The Divorce

The person who wrote this is a college student. Perhaps there is hope for us after all.

DIVORCE AGREEMENT
THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY WELL PUT AND I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT'S BY A YOUNG PERSON, A STUDENT!!! WHATEVER HE RUNS FOR, I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:
--Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

--We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.
--You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

--Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.
--We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.
--You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

--We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street.
--You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens.
--We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks.
--We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

--You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.
--You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

--We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.
--You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

--We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volt and Leaf you can find.
--You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors.
--We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

--We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem."
--I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World".

--We'll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

--Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin & Charlie Sheen, Barbara Streisand, & ( Hanoi ) Jane Fonda with you.

P.S.S. And you won't have to press 1 for English when you call our country.

Forward This Every Time You Get It ! Let's Keep This Going, Maybe Some Of It Will Start Sinking In!!

I was thinking of buying the Camo Dipping kits online to camo some of my hunting equipment but I don't want to spend too much money on the kits. I found this on Youtube where it was originated for putting swirling designs on guitars. Then I found videos of people swirling their bows. Seems pretty cheap and easy to do. Any thoughts?

Pygmy goes Pigless

I just returned last night from my Georgia pig hunt.

No one in camp even SAW a pig. We put out six bait stations ( about 200 pounds of corn) and only one was hit by pigs, and that was at night.

There was fair amount of sign around, but most of it appeared to be a couple of weeks old. I only saw half a dozen fresh pig tracks. The pigs were simply somewhere else rather than on the 1500 acre lease we were hunting on.

Fortunately, killing stuff is not necessary for us to have a good time. Except for one rainy day, the weather was nice, with temps in the 60s. We heard turkeys gobbling daily, and saw some other wildlife, including deer, a bobcat and a flock of sandhill cranes. It was nice to be out in the woods again.

While we did not damage to the pig population, we put a real HURTIN' on the fried chicken..We ate our meals at little diners in small southern towns each featuring a buffet with good down home cooking. Thier buffets offered a meal with the choice of several entrees and a drink ( lemonade or sweet tea) and dessert included. The most I paid for a meal was $7.50 and it was GOOD....

Anyone planning on doing work improving your Wild Apple Trees this spring. Did some cutting of the excess branches last year. Saw some improvement this fall. But more work is needed. Anyone using fertilzer sticks at the base? Any success. I found one good standing tree in a "field" of mine but it has alot of invasive brush and tree's growing through it. Which I plan on removing in March. I can't seem to find another one in the immediate area. Shouldn't there be more to promote growth?
PS.These tree's are so amazing. Practically dead and on the ground yet still producing apples.

We put it out about 100 or so yards and after a couple of shots made contact. It was pretty awesome what guy doesn't like a good explosion right? Well after investigating we saw it left about a 6 inch crater in the ground and a blast radias of 15 feet around. Well before we could get back and mix up some more the sheriffs showed up and said they got a call of an explosion that knocked pictures off the wall. Lol

I bought an Apex bow sight and was very happy with it, but have to say that the cheap light that came with it died in the first week. I finally found someone on Ebay selling solid brass ones and took a chance on it. I have to say it is bright, very bright. The only drawback is that it is a bit longer than the original and only came in brass finish. I was able to blue it myself with a some home bluing. Here's a look. You can find them on Ebay, search his name "hawkeyemfg"

Wild Apple Trees

Anyone planning on doing work improving your Wild Apple Trees this spring. Did some cutting of the excess branches last year. Saw some improvement this fall. But more work is needed. Anyone using fertilzer sticks at the base? Any success. These tree's are so amazing. Practically dead and on the ground yet still producing apples.

I found one good standing tree in a "field" of mine but it has alot of invasive brush and tree's growing through it. Which I plan on removing in March. I can't seem to find another one in the immediate area. Shouldn't there be more to promote growth?

Shed Hunting 2012

My Friend Charlie and I got together yesterday for a shed hunt. we started off around 7 am covering a piece of proprty by the farm we hunt where we think the deer are bedding. It was a pine area with real thick underbrush and a real tough spot to find sheds. We didnt find any there so we went to another spot close by which is a big field with ceders and pines mixed in and thats where i found the first one of the day. It was a fresh small 2 point side.

At that point we searched around for the match but couldnt find it so we went to a different piece which was antother big overgrown field. Walking the edge Charlie saw a dead deer and it turned out to be a road kill with a weird rack

It was about 10:30 and he had to leave so we walked back to house and i decided to hit a new spot by myself. It was a thick overgrown field with a small pond and real thick briars. About 20 min in i decided to get into the thick briars and i came across my second antler of the day a small 3 point side.

After taking some pics and picking it up i began to search for the other side and about 2 min later i found a bigger one it was a 4 point side with a nice kicker off the g2

Now i was real pumped to have found 3 in one day so i searched around the pond some more and it lead me to a spot where i couldnt cross to get back to the car so i had to go back the way i came. I decided to give the spot another look for the match to the big one and about 50 yards from where i found it i found the match.

At this point it was about 1:30 and it was getting warm and i kept pulling ticks off my pants so i decided to call it a day and head home. It was a great day out in the woods and after about 10 times out alteady im glad to finally have some antlers in my possession. Going back out this weekend so hopefully ill have something else to post when i get back. Good luck to everyone who is going out!!
Oh here is the pic of them safe in my home lol.

Sweatin' to the oldies..

Well, since ML season ended Tuesday, that meant to me that opening day of shed season began Wednesday!
I start out looking for dead/unrecovered deer and also like to poke around areas I shed hunted last season, but never got to do a thorough search hoping to find a few antlers I may have missed.

So Wednesday 12-21-11 I find my first antler of the new season. A little oldie 3pt along a browse edge in the creekbottom.

12-22-11
Headto higher ground and searched some blowdowns and briar thickets where the dead deer like to run and die. No deadheads in here, but I did find antler #2.., another oldie 2pt.
The weather has been ideal for some early shedding hikes. It almost feels like spring out there now...well, except for not many freshies laying around out there yet.

Near the end of my hike, I stumbled upon the first dead buck of the year. Unfortunately someone else had beat me to him and stole his hat before I could. Tomorrow we do it all over again. Good post season entertainment until some freshies start hitting the ground.

I went and checked my cam thats been sitting on a pile of deer parts from butchering and a couple of road kills I put there for a couple of weeks. I got a few good pics, but no fox or coyotes this year yet, just crows, some deer and a couple of hawks. This is a different spot than I had put a pile last year, and so far Im a little disappointed. I shot my only yote of the year there last year, and so far this year, not even a track down there. We will see what ends up coming around, but here are the first ones...

New Toy! Marlin 795 .22LR

When I went to the Appleseed shoot, most used clip fed .22s to keep ammo expenses down, and safe muzzle direction when reloading during timed shoots. Most used 1022s, and after I ran out of SKS ammo, I was able to borrow one to keep shooting. Felt great in hand, like a full size rifle. The bolt lock/no last shot hold open was awkward to me, and I found the mag release operation PIA too.. I know these features are 'fixable' with kits & cash, but paying $210+ for a rifle, then the mods, then optics/mounts are adding up to way more than I want to spend on 22 plinking gun..

I began to look at options, and the M795 filled the bill. Yes, it's butt ugly, but has last shot hold open, easy tab bolt & mag releases, sling studs installed, and a decent trigger out of the box. It's essentially a clip fed model 60. Most Model 60's are tanks, and hopefully this shouldn't be any different.

Dicks has them $139, and marlin is offering $25 mail in rebates on blued ones. I had $30 Dicks gift card, so after rebate, it will be $84 out of pocket. Shopping now for mount & optics.

Just a heads up if the mild season continues
spread your lime and start turning over the ground.
lime works 3 to 6 months after being spread.Great
for new plots. So if you spread lime now in june through
august when your plots are most attractive the lime
is working at its most effective.Remember your plots
must produce their highest protein levels from early

Help a Child with Cancer

The daughter of very good friend, who is going to St. John Fisher College is participatinging in the Teddi Dance at Camp Good Times for children with cancer. If you have a child with cancer in your life, you know this place is run by angels. Any donation big or small will help. Here is a link to Mary's page and a paragraph on the history of Camp Good Days. I told her she set her goal way to low, i would love to see her go way past the $100 feel free to give it a bump after you read it
http://www.events.ca...D=6314&frid=168

CAMP GOOD DAYS AND SPECIAL TIMES, INC.
In 1979, Elizabeth "Teddi" Mervis was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of nine. Her father, Gary Mervis, traveled across the country to major medical centers seeking the best possible treatment for his daughter. He returned home without the answers he had been looking for and realized that it was not the craniotomy, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy that was causing Teddi the most pain, but it was the loneliness of being the only child in her school and neighborhood dealing with cancer.
With the help and support of many friends and community members in Greater Rochester, New York, Gary founded Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc., a 501©3 not-for-profit organization, to provide Teddi and other children with cancer the opportunity to come together in a residential camping experience, to be with the only ones who could truly understand what they were going through – other children with cancer.
Camp Good Days was the fourth organization of its kind in the United States and the first to be started by a lay person. Since its inception, Camp Good Days has served more than 42,000 campers from 22 states and 25 foreign countries. Camp Good Days maintains accreditation from the American Camp Association;and has been inducted into the Safety 1st Hall of Fame by Markel Insurance Company.

To my surprise....

Took the T/C Pro Hunter out to start finding the factory 180 grain ammo that groups best with my 30-06 barrel... Currently for deer I use Ferdal Fusion 150 grain ammo... So, I bought Fusion 180 gr, Remington Corelok 180 gr. and Winchester 180 gr. First rounds out of the gun had basically the same point of impact as my 150 grain loads?? Wondering how that is really possible.... they all shot 1-2" high at 100 yards... Makes it nice I don't have to move my scope much once I choose the load BUT... Still odd don't you think, that 30 grain heavy slug flies to almost the same point of impact as my 150 grain load?? By the way... For me.. the choice is down to the Federal and the Remington... Both shot well... Need to bring both out again and move it out to 150 to really seperate the two...

Which sign is more informative?

Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are lands that are supposed to be managed for wildlife; wildlife study; and wildlife-related recreation. Wildlife-related recreation is hunting, trapping, and bird watching. WMAs have different rules & more restrictions than other "state lands". Many states include the language "public hunting area" and/or "open to licensed hunters & trappers". Which sinage do you think is more informative? I like the green signs and detest the yellow ones. I want the DEC to use the green signs. What are your opinions?

My wife and I spent the weekend in Rochester and I saw this place online. Walking with Whitetails is a game farm with about 40 whitetail deer. She has a couple of whiteface piebald does, and several 160"+ with one that scorred near 300". The tour was great and well worth going. It's kinda awkward though, when you expect deer to bolt away from you and these guys just come right up to the fence. I guess the slices of apples in my hand had something to do with it. Anyway, its a great place to go and drool over giant bucks and have some fun.

Syracuse.com - Figura writing about banding ducks and coyote hunting (Feb. 24, 26)

Have an interesting outdoors-related story idea for March? I'm all ears. Both of this week's stories came from readers. Send your suggestions to me at dfigura@syracuse.com or call me at 470-6066.

Man, this winter is sure moving fast. It'll be March before you know it.

I had planned on doing a story this winter on snowmobile poker runs, but the lack of snow ruined those plans.

However, I've been running a notice in the Outdoors Calendar recently about the Toad Hollow Trailriders 10th Annual Poker Run, set for this Saturday. The entry notes: "In case of no snow, participants can get from place to place by whatever means necessary." The event flyer says, “Come by sled, truck, car or horse....”

Anyway, here's what's on tap for this week on The Post-Standard's Outdoors pages:

Dennis Nett Jeff Brown and his friend, Vince Fusco, went coyote hunting Monday morning in rural land just outside of Cazenovia.

FRIDAY:
Main piece:
We go black and mallard duck banding with a small contingent of volunteers on the western shore of Cayuga Lake. The outing is being coordinated by the DEC and Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge folks.

Column: I update folks on the recent Lean2Rescue group outings in the Adirondacks and other developments.

SUNDAY
Main piece: So, you want to go coyote hunting? What's the story? (I went out Monday with a couple of guys who used a radio-controlled, predator calling device). What other techniques are being used out there by CNY coyote hunters?

Column: I give the highlights from the annual State of the Lake Ontario meeting Wednesday up in Mexico.

ANYTHING ELSE READERS OF THIS REPORT WOULD LIKE TO SEE ME WRITE ABOUT?
The effectiveness of this report is two-fold. First it lets readers know what's coming up story-wise. It also allows readers a chance to affect coverage and provide sources for upcoming stories. Bottom line: Keep in touch and give input. You could make a difference as to what appears week to week on the outdoors page! Email me at dfigura@syracuse.com or call 470-6066.

-Folks I'd like to get in contact with for future stories/columns:
- Individuals who fish offshore at the power plant in Lansing on Cayuga Lake
- Those who hunt snow geese
- Someone who hunts crows.
- Anyone who's getting out in boats and fishing for perch, either on Oneida or any of the Finger Lakes.
- Individuals with outdoor passions who would make an interesting feature story.
- Someone who's saving big bucks by reloading their own ammunition.

A BIG THANKS:
Friday's story about the duck banding was suggested by a member of The Post-Standard's Outdoors group; the coyote article was pitched by reader who's on The Post-Standard's Facebook page (PS Outdoors). See links below about how to join either one.

A great fish

This is a true story that happen back in the late 60's. I have fished the West Branch Delaware for years, long before word got out about what a great trout fishery the west branch was and is today. I was single them and not a care in the world. All I ever thought of back then was hunting and fishing. When one season would end, I couldn't wait until the next one started.I was big into trout fishing and loved every min. of it. As I sit here writing this ,I can look up at a beautiful river run 31"in brown trout that my son caught 6 years ago out of the same hole where the great fish called home. Back then I would get out of work at 3:30pm and head for the river every day and all weekends. I was a trout fishing nut. The only other people fishing it back then were all locals, no out of towner like today. Most days I had the river to myself. I never had to buy bait because I knew someone who had horses and put all there horse manure in a pile behind the barn and in 5min. I could drig all the worms I wanted. Small red worms were my go to bait back then. The hole that I fished alot back then ran for 70 to 80 yards long with it being 4 to 5 ft. deep. I have caught many trout in that hole with many in the 5 to 6 lbs. class back then and still do to this day. Back then I would never know what the flow was doing because there was no way to find out if they were lettiing water out or not. Some days I would find the river unfishable and on others you could walk across with no worries. Most days I find away to fish it. This hole that I was fishing was and still is wide and at the top of the hole there was a big rock half in the water and it was on the far side and hard to reach with lite fishing tackle that I used.I had good fishing every time I fished there and caught many trout there every time that I fished. The fishing was like that every day until 7:00 am. and them there would be a big splash like a beaver slapping his tail on the water over by the big rock and all the fish would shut off and no more catching any fish after that for the evening. It was like they all got lock jaw at the same time. It was time for the great fish to go on his feed.and all the other fish knew it. I mean this happen every evening at 7:00am and you could set your watch by it.This went on for weeks. One day I got down to the river to find that the water was prefect to make my attack to catch the great fish. I fished like I alway had and just waited for the splash that would tell me the great one was on the hunt. Right on time there was the splash that I had been waiting for all this time. Praying that the fishing gods were with me, I worked my way up and across to were I wanted to be to show him my offering. I had picked out a nice fat juicy red worm that I knew that it would take to get him. On my first cast I put it right in the honey hole and under the big rock it went. I felt him suck it in and I counted to ten and set the hook and the hole under the rock exploded to life. He ran the full 80 yards of the hole in seconds. and just rolled like all big browns do. I had the great fish and now all I had to do would be to land him and he would be mine. I fought him for a good 5 min. all the time standing in the same spot from were I first hooked him.He then make his move and make a run right at me. I had all I could do to pick up the line with him coming fast.. Within seconds there he was three feet in front of me. A river brown trout of a life time. We spotted each other at the same time and he was as surprised as I was, he turned on a dime and was gone with my hook ,line and fat juicy red worm never to be seen again. I knew the second that it happen that I should have gotten on shore the second I hooked him and maybe he would have been mine. Sitting here now and looking at the 31"in. brown that my son took out of the same hole I wonder if maybe some where back down the line they could be connected and like father to son ,we both have seem the great fish.

February bass

The weather today was pretty warm so I figured I'd try the local pond for catch and release pickerel.

I had one small pickerel chase a soft plastic, but didn't take it. I then decided to try slow rolling a spinner bait thru some heavy cover and in short order caught a largemouth bass the measured 18 inches. I released it and moved a few feet down and caught and released a 19 inch bass. Both bass were very fat which surprised me and really fought hard.

I have never caught largemouth in February so it was a great surprise.

I was going to take pictures, but I didn't want to keep them out of the water that long and wanted to release them quickly so I didn't take pictures.

I have not been to Cranberry in a few years and never remember seeing that spot ( I think it might be County land).
Tim, his father, and some new friends from the area, pulled other fish from Meacham Lake, but the boy's pike was the highlight of the day, the father said.

Blackout pics

Finally getting around to loading a few pics from my new cam.
Not very often I'm impressed with an IR cam for several of the obvious reasons but this Blackout deal seems to be on a whole different level.

Flash range is exceptional reaching right out to 50ft and beyond with all 60 LED's on. This thing is virtually unnoticeable to my eyes even knowing exactly where it is when it triggers at night. Only a VERY low glow can be detected and ONLY if you are looking for it Very closely. Daytime color is true and the quick shutter speed (1/750ss) should freeze daytime action in it's tracks. Seemed to do well on some in flight jays anyhow. Nightime is pretty typical at 1/30ss with some motion blurr on moving subjects, but nothing I would consider unacceptable for an IR cam.

Out of 246 pics last night, only 5 shots had deer looking at the cam. Maybe they were looking past it as I had it set pretty close to the road, but overall impression is that the Blackouts flash does not alert deer whatsoever. Of course I'll have to experiment with video mode to see any reactions more clearly so this is just my initial observations over approximately 1000 pics so far.
I was also impressed with the burst mode. Walking perpendicular to the cams sensor @ 15ft, quickly triggered the cam in normal detection setting and captured 3 shots of me passing by at a pretty decent clip. One entering the frame, one centered in the frame, and one leaving the frame. That's nice! Nightime burst was a little sluggish and took approximately 6 second to record 3 consecutive shots.

Anyhow, here's a few pics. Sorry no horns here and I'll have to work on some daytime pics and vid clips soon.
Local wildlife photographer Bob Asanoma sent me these amazing photos of snowy owls and the following email.
"This snowy owl was taken on Jan 26 on the rail at the FedEx Terminal at
Syracuse Hancock International Airport. I would call it a female but some birders might call it an immature male. I'm not sure who's right.
"The other one was taken on Feb 2 on a snow bank on the north side of the
terminal across from the road accessed by the North Construction Gate. It
is definitely a male because it is almost totally white."
Im joining Golds gym with my buddy, planet Fitness by myself just do do cardio every morning and i also started training MMA (Brazilian Jujitsu & Muay Thai) im so pumped! Since my diet i lost 10 lbs (prob water weight) but its a start. I was 180lbs down to 170 @ 5' 7"... i have been training with my buddy who is 6' @ 290lbs. Him and i go live 3 minute rounds on the mats, I deff come home with new bruises every time LOL. i love it tho. im amazed how good i hold up with him even tho he has 110 lbs on me. he has also been training for 4 years on and off and i am only 3 weeks in... i like rolling around being the under dog, makes me push myself.

But in any event my goal is 160-165 at around 7-8% body fat. Its a big goal as i never really have been lean enough to have been cut up the way i want to but this year is different! Hope everyone trying to get in shape is doing good and stick with it! good luck

The two caught their share of walley from the shore this fall, and through the ice this winter.
Submitted photoFrancis Hardy with a nice winter walleye.I met Francis Hardy last weekend at the CNY Boat Show at the state fairgrounds and got into talking about fishing Oneida Lake. He sent me these two photos: one of himself, the other of his grandson, Keagan Borasky.

In the top photo, Hardy holds a nice walleye he caught recently while ice fishing with his grandson on Sylvan Beach over 18 foot of water in the middle of the day.
"We caught our limit between 2 & 2:30 pm," he said. "We were using another one of my favorite lures a gold and red Kastmaster 3/8 oz tipped with minnows jigging the bottom."
The bottom photo is an impressive walleye young Keagan caught this fall.
"We were fall fishing Oneida Lake at South Bay off shore at night," the grandfather said. "He was using my favorite lure which was a Junior Thunder Stick Storm perch color (original) you can't buy any more. That night we both caught our limit."

As a NY resident, If you had $30K to spend on land, what would you buy and where, and why?

Out of state like CT or NJ where you can bait and hunt more bucks, their seasons are different than NY.

PA where they have different seasons, but only allowed 1 more buck?

In-state, NY but its almost like whats the point if you already have access to good hunting land?

spend it on multiple huntings trips?

buy far away land in another state, but then how do you manage it?

Thoughts?????????????????????

HEY how about a CROSSBOW topic section???

we have sections for trailcams, taxidermy, muzzle loaders, and even game recipes/cooking???

crossbows are now a legal tool to harvest deer with in NY state and i think we should have a section for them that hunters can go to just to talk crossbows.

everytime we start any kind of crossbow discussion it isnt long before the likes of DOC, and GROWSALOT not to mention others comes in with their opinions and hijacks the thread with their reasons why crossbows are evil and will kill pewople or whatever the heck, and the bashing begins???

it seems to me there is a genuine interest in crossbow education on this site and i see hunters wanting to know and gain knowledge on how to safely handle a crossbow.

i mean we have guys asking on how to cock a crossbow in a treestand?? so maybe before some poor hunter ends up castrating himself 20 ft up a tree we should have a forum dedicted to the use and shooting, tuning, arrow types, broadheads, etc, etc....

i would be more than happy to assist in answering questions regarding crossbows and have a couple years of experiance hunting deer with a crossbow already in PA under my belt.

maybe the mods could even make an effort to keep and eye on this section in regards to keeping on topic and preventing a bashing fest from ensuing...

mother of 6

A biker's greatest achievement was his brood of six kids. He was so proud
that he continually called his wife: Mother of Six, which pissed her off a
lot. But he kept referring to her as Mother of Six no matter where they
went.

At end of a poker run, he shouted across the bar, "Hey, Mother of Six, you
ready to go home?"

His irritated wife screamed back: "Anytime you're ready, Father of Four!"

Grilled Venison Slider Burgers

Venison burgers are a favorite around my house, especially in the summer on Sunday afternoons around the pool. We like to use pure venison, no added fat. This recipe is the same as I would use for big full size deer burgers, but for this cook we cut them down to slider burger size.
What you'll need:
Ground vension ( a 1 pound package will make about 6 sliders)
Egg whites, about 3 per 1 pound of ground venison
Plain oatmeal
Old WoodFire Grill's KK's 10 BBQ Rub
Montreal steak seasoning
Olive Oil or grill spray
Hickory, pecan or mesquite wood or chunks
In a large bowl, combine the ground venison and the egg whites and fold until thoroughly mixed. Add oatmeal, a little at a time, and continue to fold until the mixture has a sticky consistency. This will make them hold together well without using added fat. Pat the meat out into small burgers and place on a cookie sheet. Season with Old WoodFire Grill's KK's 10 BBQ Rub and Montreal steak seasoning. Place in the refrigerator for about an hour prior to cooking. This will also help to soildify the burgers and prevent them from coming apart.

Start your grill by buiding a medium to hot fire, around 350-400 degrees. For this cook I used the Weber Kettle, and I used a large chimney full of lump charcoal, fully lit. Bank the charcoal on one side, to create a hot side and a cool side. Throw a chunk of wood on the coals to give it a little smoke flavor. I really like mesquite for my burgers, but in my opinion hickory and pecan are good choices also. When the coals are burning good and the flames have died down, carefully coat the cooking grate with olive oil and place the burgers on the grate, directly over the coals. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes, then flip and repeat. Once they have finished on the hot side, move them to the cool side and place a half slice of cheese on each one, close the lid and let it melt.

Once the cheese has melted, remove the slider burgers from the grill and place a few buns on the cool side to toast. Serve them up with Old WoodFire Grill's Beer Battered Fries.

Lower the legal shooting distance for bow????

500 feet = 166.66 yards. I believe that most people don't realize that the regs are the same for bow as does for gun. Thus less complaints. I see lots of bow targets that are in neighborhoods with less than 1 acre lots??? ??? I also think that it could increase the "hunting opportunity" in many areas.
How does everyone feel about this? Pros/cons? Please share...

New Self Filmed Hunting Vids - "Posted Boys"

Hi all,

My hunting buddy and I started filming our adventures so we could come back home and show the family what we actually went through. They turned out funny so we started cutting them down to smaller videos and decided to post them on youtube.

No acting, just raw footage of our craziness and shows really that it ain't easy. Hope you enjoy it for what it is and it reminds you of your outings.

Warning: There is no language filter on them so do not watch in front of anyone that should not be hearing it

Hope you enjoy or just get a good laugh out of it.

PS: Do not expect to see a lot of wildlife and monster bucks. We filmed exactly what went down. The point was to show the Wives that we MUST spend a lot of time going out because it is not easy. They thought it was easy because they are used to watching those cable shows where in 3 mins a monster buck is down.
