If you don't mind me asking what's a trip like that run....and any suggestions you guys might have for a budget hunt...guided or unguided....

The range is wide. There are completely DIY hunts, there are semi guided where u get the lodging and access to private land, and then there are fully guided hunts that can go as high as $10K. Feel free to PM me if you want. I prefer smaller family run operations where I am the only hunter in camp. They are typically much cheaper in price but I've had pretty good success so far. I also look for new outfitters or ones that aren't that popular yet so again the prices are much reasonable and then I negotiate from there on cost or extra days etc. lastly, I usually book at least 2 in advance to lock in cheaper prices. For example, I paid $3K for my mt lion hunt in 2012. That same hunt is now $7,500

Sending out my deposit later this week. This will be my 2nd trip to Wyoming (2012). I will be hunting the first 4 days of October in 2014 in Northeastern Wyoming. I will be hunting Mule Deer & Antelope. My Dad will be hunting Mule Deer only. We will be hunting with a small family run operation on approx 70-80K acres of land.

Small?! That's a tenth of the size of Rhode Island. Good luck, you always seem to come back with some great stories or world class animals. Keep us posted.

anything on the ground?

Yes, will post a new thread report tomorrow sometime. Had zero cell service all week. Sitting on the runway in NY right now, just landed. Despite bad weather 2 out of 4 days, We filled all 3 tags with nice trophies; me deer and lope, dad deer.
