Soybeans

Recommended Posts

Oh I never expect to have any left for hunting season...that is part of the plan...that feild will either be walked over before a heavy storm(Sunday) with turnips ...or later with clover/alfalfa....RR so I could get the weeds down before legume planting...but I'm always changing my mind...we'll see what happens Saturday...lol

Today I picked up the turnips...and went to lower section and spayed down one 140ft trail plot and a 110ft one then one small opening next to the clover plot in the cam pics I posted today...in a week I will scratch that area up with some fertalizer then toss out some turnips seeds before a good rain.

I also srayed the lower soybeans and because they are so short will throw down both PT and some TTT....... There are 3 other sections around the beans I sprayed and will rake ferilizer and PT in that...

The TTT I planted Sunday are already coming up I have another section to spray there and put more in...the upper beans need one more spraying tomorrow...I'm not sure what to do with those...the latest rains have made them real thick and knee high...I have time to think on those....

Pygmy... Dang are the deer as huge as the ones around here?...They are in the clover fields all the time and it's growing so fast in this weather, even they can't keep up...I have a pic ..I'll post later...of a doe that strolled by the house...I glanced out the window and thought there was a Jersey cow out there!..Someone is going to get some good donated venison this year....I will have snack sticks done and will make jerky....It must be the scarecrow I made...the upper bean fieldd gets walked through but not too bad...most of lower feild is 4-6 inches high...still putting on leafs though...

PS... excuse typing and spelling in above post...just too busy to fix...dang dyslexic today too...I told someone a # I call all the time, and reversed half the #'s...... they had to call back to get it again...asked how to spell tritical today and finally had to write it out I kept reversing the letters when giving the spelling verbally :fie: .....I need a vacation...

My sister leases property to the farmer and this year they planted soybean. My brother in law says deer are out back every morning eating in field. I;m going get my cams up on spots they leave the woods on backside of property, see what's going on back there. Pic is looking across soyfield, with the backside the woods.

Ya know several years ago I went to the local crop farmer...I have a lot of respect for him...one of the best looking well managed places I have seen...king of rotation...anyhow asked about soybeans I had just started planting them on our hill.... He said soybeans won't grow here...usually they are grown farther West of us...the land is just too rocky....Really I said mine are growing great! just having troubles keeping deer out and I think we had army worms that year which is why I had stopped to talk.

Well I'll be darned ...didn't he have a test planting the next year...a little more the following year...and now he is growing acres and acres of them and has a new macro nutrient sign on them this year...dark green and beautiful....Crap! the beans are the crop I used to off set farmer crops near me and draw the big boys in....he is about 2 miles away as the crow flies....that will teach me....lol

So I have a 31in. inseam and the soybeans are at the top of my thighs ....on the beans the deer and rabbits have not touched still growing and real thick...no flowers yet...but alas....lots of Japanese beetles so after this next round of rain...everything..garden -beans gets a spraying of Selven and fungicide..Grapes and hazelnuts too...they do not seem to bother the mulberry trees

Thanks I can't believe it they are flowering and STILL putting on growth like mad..Up to my waist now.....the deer are in one section of them all the time but even those are growing taller now...they are just nipping the very tops...looks like they have started not tasting as good the older they get...I stopped spraying to over seed the turnips and a weed has taken off in them...they seem to be hitting the weed harder than the beans right now...some turnips have sprouted...and some were pounded into the ground for the effort by the heavy rains......Pleased with these ag beans this year..
