Fruit Id?

wondering what this is. found em when I was out scouting. trying to figure out if its worth setting up where I found em.

 

funny thing was I couldn't exactly pick out what tree they were falling from. plan on going back with my binos and trying to figure it out. but they were riiiight near my cam.

What does the inside look like?

 

 

good questions, don't know what I was thinking. picked it up. took a pick dropped it to the ground. if I get a chance to head back this weekend will cut one open and take a pic

hey vince1, not a fruit. its called a Gall. in your case a red oak gall, pictured below. its a type of insect parasite, casued by wasps. it causes little to no harm to the tree however.

thanks for  the info,  and good read. glad I didn't slice into it. but now im kinda curious about whats inside. good to know they are harmless
