God Is Not Dead

Let me start by saying that my intention here is NOT to start a debate or argument between theists and atheists. It simply is my review of a movie I just finished watching called "God Is Not Dead".

I must say I was somewhat skeptical about watching it. But I'm really glad I chose this one over the new Adam Sandler movie Blended. Incidentally I was about to click on the Adam Sandler movie (eventhough I believe Dont Mess With the Zohan was his best), but something made me go back and select this one instead.

Not to spoil it for anyone out there who is interested in watching it but it was about an athesist professor at a university who told his class that that they can pass his philosophy class if they wrote three words: "God Is Dead" on a sheet of paper and signed it. All but one student sheepishly did it. This one student professed to him that he was a Christian and could not agree. So he took the professor's challenge to prove God's existence.

Well I won't say who won the argument. I'll let you decide for yourselves. But in this day and age with all the violence, turmoil, illness and death going on in our world, not to mention the instant gratification we all expect, materialism and hatred, this movie was very powerful. It put things into perspective and makes you stop and think why certain things happen to some people and not to others.

let me take this from a scientist review.

the professor is a total ass about his belief, in this movie quotes are used by '' scientists'' out of context to go for or against a belief. it was said that Steven hawking said that God is dead, what the context meant was we no longer need god to answer how something happened we can explain through physics everything to a point. most mainstream scientists have no strong feelings either way on if there is or is not a creator . to be frank we don't care, if there is a creator awesome I want to know how he does what he does. I don't want to be able to disprove a god if there is a god I want to be able to show through math and science exactly how awesome this creation is. what's a better story, saying god created everything or saying that this all happened through atomic particles and neutrinos and a bunch of crazy intricate methods or do we just take it on the basic level? looking into the cosmos we can tell just like in the bible we all have a common start with dust, we all started as dust from supernova. mainstream science is fully okay with a creator, we just want evidence of that the universe started with a big bang but if a creator started that bang? cool awesome, I just don't want people of faith to believe that all scientists and science advocates believe the same thing as the professor.
