Buffalo area wild life

Ha, buddy shot a big buck on Wednesday, a doe Thursday, a doe Saturday and his 2 brothers small bucks on Sunday.

Brother had turkeys kee kee running in his yard Wednesday, saw a sharpshinned hawk peel a cardinal off his bird feeder.

Upon shoveling out my folks each birdhouse (about 6-7 of them) was holding a sparrow. One flew out an inch from my head as I roof raked.

I've noticed birds hankering in hedgerows and pines.

All the snow is gone now and hitting the bird feeders hard.

Deer will hunker down in cedar and pine swamps if they're close by. Since a good portion of it melted they may move from the area.

On the tughill they'll typically migrate off the hill. I know my cabin had 3-4 feet last week and its way , way down now. I'll let you know if any deer stuck it out.

Rabbits and others can get on top of the snow easier than the cloven hoofed creatures. Birds, well, they just fly off to where the food is

Look for "wild life" concentrations around the local watering holes when Buffalo weather takes a turn for the worse.

Many creatures diets consist of only liquids at these times. :drinks:

It's not uncommon to see the predator-prey roles reversed during the long battles with old man winter. Young bucks often come out in force to feast on the old cougars that are attracted to the neon lights!

All the snow melted a few days after it came. Hit 63 degrees Thankfully our basement didn't take water as creeks hit all time highs. All back to normal as Buffalo weather is concerned Bucks were tending to lose horns early as they were stressed. Buddy shot a big one two days into storm. Over 200 pounds and 19" spread. Stupid thing was looking for acorns under 7 feet of snow. Sucked dragging it he said. Well ya
