I think in NY State sales are difficult because most shops refuse to do the paperwork and background for sales between private parties......not sure if the shops have relaxed that attitude as of late, but when the Safe Act first passed most were sticking to that, not worth the $10.00 to be record keepers for the State.

I had a conversation with my local FFL about receiving an internet sale just the other day.

He didn't have an issue with it. SAFE act hasn't changed the process of transfer has it?

BTW: I have always paid $20 for a transfer. In the last 10 years I've purchased 4 firearms on the internet & transfered them through 2 different local FFLs.

Hey Lawdwaz

I'll speak to the gun shop fella in town tomorrow. I have people here that claim all they did when they moved here, was to have family mail their long guns to them through the regular mail. No matter how we do this it will be a nice rifle to do some Alaska hunting. Send me a PM and we can work out the details. Thanks!

PM coming in the next hour.....Thanks!

yes, private sale transfers have changed since the Safe Act...they are only allowed to charge $10.00 on face to face private transfers/sales and they must retain the record of those sales. I would guess they're might be more willing to do internet sales and transfers because that price is not dictated by NYS............there are a few shops that add certain "fees" to each face to face transaction to make it worthwhile, if you find one I would keep it quiet.
