I also have a Sako 375 H&H. Mine is a left hand deluxe model.......I killed one PA buck with it and also took it to Alaska for a bear hunt.

Hopefully it goes to Africa someday because like you, that's why I bought it![/

It's a great at accurate gun. I've got one and 300 Win mag that I use all the time as well

Got a .475 Turnbull custom 1886 on order, does that count?

It's a 50-110 case shortened and necked down to .475.  Puts out 400 grain barnes at about 2100fps.

For our local buffalo, lions and such.

Was hot for one of his Ruger #1's in 475 for a spell....

Done some color case and bluing for me on a few projects over the years.

Nice guy to talk with.

A six pound .416 ??

You couldn't PAY me to shoot that beast..!!

If a bear was trying to eat me, I think I'd throw the rifle away and take my chances with my KUNG FU skills on the bear...<<grin>>...

With a scope and a few rounds/ sling it'd be in the 7's....

Just sayin'. LOL

I always wanted to touch one off with it but didn't want to "break the seal"................as in knock the new off it!

Probably would be a teeth rattler for sure but I ain't skeerd............. :)

Saw on the NAHC a bit on the 338 fedral, any one one shoot this round or hunt with it......It has my interest I must say........been around for for 5 years now so I don"t think it is going away.Any thoughts.....

check out the september 24, 2014 thread on "are there any 338 Fed shooters out there?"

Also a recent thread on 338 brush gun scopes.

I shoot and hunt with it with 200 grain bullets.  It seems to be a finiky round, but if you get it dialed in, it's powerful, relatively flat for NY hunting and relatively easy on the shoulder.

  • 1 month later...

A couple that I had and have let go are the 404 Jeffrey

And the 416 rigby. Last yr. I got the big bore bug again and picked up a 450 marlin.

I have everything for a 404 Jeff build sitting here, smith I was going to use got out of the game with ATF headaches.....Win 70 action, NECG sights,Lothar Walther barrel.

When funds allow I will find another to start work on it.

On the 8 Rem Mag......I'd still like a 300 Jarrett,  parent case is 8 Mag in 30 cal. Similar ballistics to 300RUM. No particular reason......just for something different.

Either s 1873 or a 1892 Winchester in a easy to find caliber.  Probably 38 special because it's cheap to shoot.  I just like a old or reproduction old Winchester lever.

Sailing....That's just the " John Wayne" in you coming out..

I would love a Savage 99 chambered in 300 Savage. I had one years ago but sold it. Classic rifle and a great deer cartridge.

would be nice to find one that came with the interchangeable .410 barrel.........a friend of mine had one, and believe it or not lost the .410 barrel...what a shame that was.
