Oh so they go in live into the water? Makes sense. I just put a big chef knife through the head right before grilling.

If you kill them before they go in how are they supposed to give that last tail flip and splash boiling water on your face?? That's all part of the experience!

People must be really bored to bring this one up again. Might I suggest going fishing or catching mud-bugs on your own? 

 i brought the topic back to life.  I caught a bunch today with my son. i got a nice little spot in a clear stream.  ate them last year but was just wondering if they were the same as from down south.   teachers got the life ( in the summers at least).

Nice diplomat019. I used to catch then all the time as a kid and cook them up.

There's a you tube channel called Joe and Zack Survival, he catches them in Minnesota and Louisiana and says they taste the same more or less.
