We're out this morning in Naples. 2 greys and a red so far. White oaks are dropping acorns like crazy. There were a lot of squirrels out this morning, but it's slowing down now. I'm proud of him, he got 3 reds and a grey yesterday. The kid's a diehard.

I generally use a shotgun the first few times out in early season..

When I get a few packages of squirrel in the freezer, I switch to a rifle..

So far this year I've taken 17 with the 16 gauge, 9 with the Ruger 10/22, and 3 with my NEA .17 MachII....

Both my squirrel rifles are scoped..I have a Burris fixed 4X compact on my 10/22 and Leupold fixed 4X on the .17 MachII...

ironically its the scope im waiting on. I could just go with my 12 gauge and call it good. It would get the job done and I have a good skinning knife. I work sun up to sun down so it limits me to the weekends. By that time the wife has my time allocated already. I need a vacation.

Or a new wife. Probably easier to get a new wife than vacation.
