Bear are much heavier boned than a deer. I am sure you could put one down with a 243and a perfect shot but I would not recommend using one. The last thing I would want to do is track a wounded bear into cover with a round that small. Your other two choices would be better suited.
Freedom to choose isn’t free. We must be ever vigilant to maintain our freedoms.

I like 30-06 best, never had a deer get away that was hit, ammo's cheap, and easy to find.. A lot of the younger guys seem to prefer .270.

My go to gun is my encore in 25-06. That is what I take out the door the most. I just got a 7-08 barrel for the encore, which I am starting to shoot a bit now. encore 45 muzzleloader then my model 99 300 savage that was my dads. I also have my moms model 94 3030 pre 64. I have not hunted with it yet but do shoot it occasionally. I hope to take it for a walk this fall.

The 7mm-08 is my favorite whitetail round. The .30-06 next, then the .308, .35 Rem and .30-30. Often the rifle I choose to carry that day determines what round I'll be using.
Ask me why I hunt, and I'll ask you why you don't.

when carrying a rifle for deer its either a springfiled 30-06 that was sporterized in the 50's or an 8mm of the same fate but kinda prefer the german gun
