The 2012 spring turkey season is almost upon us, and we have decided to have our first turkey hunting contest, The HuntingNY 2012 Spring Turkey Classic! This will be our first team contest, and should be great fun! You can sign up for the contest by replying to this thread, sign up starts now and will end at Midnight on April 20, 2012. Teams will consist of 2 members each, and will be randomly drawn and posted on Saturday, April 21st. Entries should be posted in the 2012 Spring Turkey Classic section. Contest entries must be submitted by Midnight on June 4, 2012.

Contest Rules

-The Bird must be taken in NY during the 2012 spring turkey season (May 1 - May 31)
-2012 Youth turkey season kills are NOT eligible
-There must be photos of the bird(s) included in the post(s), they must clearly show the beard and spur length measured with a ruler, this year's turkey tag attached to the bird as well as a contest card (details below)
-Entries will be submitted by 2 person teams
-Each hunter can submit 2 bearded birds for a total of 4 possible birds per team

Scoring system

-Each bird will earn 10 points
-Beard length will be rounded to nearest inch and will earn 1 point per inch
-If bird is double bearded, only longest beard will count
-Spurs will be rounded to nearest half inch and will earn 1 point per half inch
-Total score of each team will be added up at the end of the contest, highest total score wins

Contest Card

We will provide a contest card file for each team, which has to be printed and filled out upon harvesting of the bird. The card will show team name, date and location of kill and website logo. The card must be clearly visible in 1 photo of bird.

Thats 100% my fault. I run this site for fun, I've been slammed with work, family and other issues. I try to keep things going here. I'll be weeding out the invalid entires and posting the voting thread shortly and follow that up with an email to everyone to vote. We never will not produce what we promise, I've just been overwhelmed with real life stuff to get done. None the less WNY is running this one for us, so i'm sure it will go smoother then with me at the helm.

Many of us our thankful to have sites like this and for that measure run by someone with some integrity. Your response is first rate.

I know how things can get and I am not trying to communicate what others think, but for me personally the issue was more with the lack of knowing than the actual delay.

With this said, if you need any additional help I would be willing to volunteer in the future to support what the site offers. I am sure others would help too. Just don't sign me up as a judge in the 200 Yard Archery Shooting contest!!!

I am in sign me up if anyone will partner with me. I may even be willing to have my partner to my place to hunt if willing. I will have the first week of may off to hunt.
Hunt from your heart and enjoy the outdoors for what it means to you. Don't let other dictate how you should do it and what you should shoot.

But if you ask on here, everyone will tell you how to hunt, including me. So take your chances

The partners are selected randomly right? Chances of hunting together would diminish although it would be nice to meet new hunting buddies.

I know it is not mandatory, I threw it out if possible my partner can come to my place and we can hunt a day or two. Just a friendly gesture.
