  1. No heat other than the wood stove. The wood stove is a 55 Gallon drum stove kit. It holds enough wood to keep the whole cabin more than wam enough all night long. We restock it before we leave for the woods and the house is warm when we get back. There is no indoor plumbing. There is a bathroom petitioned off and there is a sink and shower that drain out to the ground outside. We use a camping portable hot shower to warm the water and a camp potty. There is a kitchen sink that also drains to the ground outside. we bring water in from a public well 3 miles away.
  2. Everything is negotiable. If you interested in finding out where we are finishing PM me.
  3. My hunting partner and I have decided to sell our camp to buy a larger one. We have for sale our hunting camp. It's a cabin with Xlarge living room, Xlarge kitchen and Xlarge loft. We sleep 6 in the loft with room for at least 2-4 more in the living room. The cabin has all new board and batting siding, new windows, new front door, new roof and re-enforced footings. All work was completed in the spring of 2013. This is a dry cabin with 220 electrical service. Heat is supplied by a wood burning stove. Included is an electric stove for cooking and a fridge. We may be even leaving some of the furniture behind if the buyer would be interested. The cabin sits on 5 acres of land adjacent to 500 acres of NYC Public Land. Over the last 3 years we have taken a 6 pointer, 2 bear and numerous doe off of the adjacent DEP property. We have spotted 2 additional bear after harvesting the first 2. All interested parties should reply to this post or send me a personal message.
  4. First Bow morning of the season for me. So glad I braved the weather forecast. Turned in to a decent morning. A little breezy but no rain.
  5. Thanks! After hunting for 30 years, this was, by far, my most memorable experience. Even more exciting than my own first harvest.
  6. My son shot this bear last week. I got to watch the whole thing from my tree stand. While he was on the ground 20 feet away. I was very proud. He is only 15 years old and this was his first big game kill. He took the time to wait to make sure it was alone and then the bear winded him and bolted. He hit the bear with the first shot while it was on a full run. He is going to be a great hunter.
  7. Living in Long Island and working and doing business in NYC I can tell you that most law enforcement agents have the same mentality that I posted earlier. They issue summonses that they are either unsure of or they know are unwarranted. In the long run it is cheaper and not worth the cost of losing a days pay to fight tickets and summonses even though we know we can beat them. The dabbling in grey areas is being done by the ENCON officers.
  8. There is no reason to re-write game laws that have been in place and have worked for many years. The ENCON officers need to stop making assumptions about "intent", they need to stop abusing their authority. I was once told by a DEC officer that i could either plead guilty and pay my fine or plead not guilty and get a lawyer to fight my case. They realize that it is cheaper and easier for us to pay our fines than to fight them.....By the way I met the court justice who handled my case the following weekend while in the woods hunting....He apoligized for issuing the fine. He said he knew the DEC had a bogus case but if he does not hand out the fines he gets complaints from the DEC. The fine was for hunting over bait and salt on leased land. We had tresspassig issues and had no idea this stuff was there. This was opening morning. Apparantly, some tresspassers were planning on hunting during the week as we were pretty much weekend warriors at the time.
