    Eclipse

I was in the path of totality for an eclipse in 2017 - it was definitely not 100% dark, but very dusk-like. Birds quit chirping, night-time insects started making their noises, etc. It was a cool experience.
  2. I'd think not - no hair / tissue remnants and too much discoloration (green) to be from this year, IMO.
  3. I run a bunch of cameras in the fall (25 or so) but only keep 2 of them out all year. Those 2 cameras are cell cameras that are strategically placed to monitor my property for trespassers, etc. So more of a security use case in the off-season.
  4. Appears so to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The muscle mass decreases just as rapidly as it increased before and during the rut due to swings in testosterone production, I would think. I'm not a biologist, though - this is just an (un)educated guess.
  6. Totally agree - I can't do that, either. But there are certainly those that can - maybe fewer and fewer as time goes on, but they are still out there. I have a neighbor to the south of one of the properties I hunt that does just that.
  7. I think lack of access to hunting ground is one of the biggest issues for the future of hunting. Several folks here have already taken new hunters out with them, but for that to persist and expand, that new hunter needs to take new hunters as well. Eventually that original landowner’s property would get overcrowded, thus the need for more access. I think some tax incentive for landowners to open up their ground for hunting, like is done in several other states, might be a way to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Do you happen to have a link to this? I'm always looking for better ways to sharpen my knives, etc. I've been using the KME sharpening system for the past several years. https://grizzlystik.com/grizzlystik-sharpening-kit-from-kme-sharpeners.html
  9. Is that a recently passed law as mentioned above? Does anyone have a link to it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Since when? The September 2023 law mentioned above? I wasn’t aware of this - guess I need to educate myself on it! I’ve previously had muzzleloaders shipped directly to my door, but that was several years back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Why do you think it was shed -vs- broke off? My son found an antler this past weekend with part of the skull attached to it. It's amazing what kind of force these deer can endure to literally snap off a piece of their skull and then move around seemingly like nothing has happened. Unfortunately, this deer is likely going to die from a brain abscess unless someone is able to take him before the end of season.
  12. Dang - there’s a very reasonably priced parcel that I am interested in purchasing, but there is no legal access. There is public land on the north side, so I could access through there, but that would be a heck of a hike. The current owner hasn’t been to the property in several decades, so access was not important to him. I guess I’ll have to do some cold calling to adjacent landowners to gauge their appetite for an easement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
