    DEC regions?

not so normal for up here! haha. Wild boar with rifle and shotgun(now that I use a bow I am hoping to get a hog with one). Alligator with a huge treble hook on a rope, iguanas, marlin, sailfish, rattle snakes.

    DEC regions?

When I do make it to NY it will be private land. I've hunted in NJ with some success and Florida(some not so normal targets). I am sure I will have more questions some not so smart. I am new to the deer game, especially bow.

    DEC regions?

I should have made this clear prior, I have not hunted in NY before. I hunt in NJ. Here, we have regulation sets 1- 8 and they are broken down even further in 70 zones. I am asking this question not to make sure what I am doing is correct but prior to getting my license. So thank you for your help and advice Treeguy and accman.

    DEC regions?

I see guys posting 4N, 7...., etc. Are these DEC regions found on this? http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45415.html Is this basically for public land? I have only known northern, southern, suffolk and westchester. If I hunt private land do these affect me?
  5. I am new to hunting. IS it normal to see him in the am AND pm? Does that make him tough to pattern?
  6. 160 - 170. Well thats what I would tell every one!

    which stand

I just sold my big, heavy API Grand Slam. In the market for another climber. My 3 choices are the Lone Wolf Hand Climber, Summit Open Shot, and the Summit Specialist. I don't like bars in front of me. I like the size of the Lone Wolf platform. Like the seat of the specialist and the price of the Open Shot. Decisions decisions. They are all within a couple of pounds of each other, the heaviest being 17 lbs. Going from the 27 lb API, either should be fine in weight. The Lone Wolf has the biggest platform, but weighs more and is WAY more expensive.
  9. Great read. However I would disagree with the last one being too fancy. I work at a country club and have tried some really cool recipes. Home made teriyaki sauce wrapped in bacon, brandy au poivre cream sauce etc....
  10. Decoy'd? Why do you say it is a good spot for it? And how do I do it?
  11. I have only been hunting for 3 years. I hunt in between a golf course and all farmland. Every night around 5:00, like clock work deer leave the farms, walk across the street, into the woods and then onto my golf course. Every time within a 200 yd section. They cross a creek and an open patch of the woods. I built a food plot of alfalfa and clover. Its only about 5000 sq ft. My trail camera has video of 3 different bucks and a bunch of does and fawns. My question is should I be using any kind of scents? Buck urine, doe urine? Tarsal gland gel? Rack rub gel? Doe is estrous? I know the deer are there. I've never seen any scraps or rubs but then again, people in the past have had to point them out to me in other areas(not sure what I'm looking for I guess). Some people say the deer are already there so no need. I'm trying to shrink that 200 yd window to close to my food plot. Maybe scent trails? Thanks guys for helping a beginner.
