In the woods. Missed a nice doe yday. What a bummer. At the range is one thing. Shooting at 5.30pm when is so dark in the woods is another thing. Day is young. Fingers crossed

I do Boat canvas for a living so this was easy.

I made this "Deer Body Bag" to drag deer out of the woods. It slides really well and protects the deer carcass while transporting on the hitch rack or inside a car to protect the interior from blood or ticks. Then is easy to wash.

Where in the Catskills are u I had the same view this morning on my way to the stand?

In my stand hunting with my two boys on the property. One outgrew the youth, but he enjoys bow hunting. Two does and two fawns. Came so fast. Cought me off guard. Only stopped when they were behind me. I could not turn without being made. They left in a somewhat hurry. No tail up. Hopefully they'll be back

Somehow he got a head shot. She dropped right there. Then he got the finishing shot in the heart.

Thank you all. We've been hunting through rain and cold all day sit. He was getting a bit discouraged. He did not see anything till today. He's happy now.

Finally. After four days of hunting my son got his first doe.

Just had a baby and a big one in front. The big one was behind a tree. No shot. Something spooked them and took off. The big one was at 25 yd. Was waiting to come out from behind the tree. I drew. I could not hold it anymore. I was waiting for the doe to come out. She was stomping. I think she made me. She took off not too fast. Kinda like something is not right. Been here in the woods since opener. 4 of us on the property. Nothing till today. One more morning sit tomorrow then back to reality.

Dead in 4R. Saw a little one in the morning. It is calling for rain by 2.30. I sit till legal.

I've been on the sidelines all this year enjoying everyone's posts. I'm keeping the thread alive. I'm in my stand in Long island hunting. I hunted Catskills one week at the beginning of bow season then Columbus Day weekend. Then opening gun and anothe week before Thanksgiving. All and all my buddy got a button buck. I don't want to surrender. So I'll hunt Long island as long as I can.

As an update DEC got back to my friend. Apparently the ungs looking like that is the result from shock or trauma from the gunshot. The State biologisy said the meat is good to eat. They get this a lot from other hunters
