  3. It seems like only yesterday when I started counting down. I can't believe that Oct 1st will be here before we know it. Got most of my stuff done around the house and I reseeded my lawn yesterday - Oy my aching back! Now I can concentrate on shooting my bow and perfecting my form every evening.

  6. Covert pics look good. Maybe 2 cams at different angles are in order in some situations. Ah next invention to hit the market, rotational cam?

  7. Jets and Giants, that's my real dream.... Remember that Yankees Mets subway series??? I know there is a slim chance of that but it would be so cool, especially when they play at home...

  8. Could be a good tactic if you step on a twig during a stalk.... take out a turkey call and do a couple of soft yelps. I don't know if that would work, but it might be worth a try and maybe relax the deer a bit. Anybody ever do that to see what the deer's reaction is?

  9. My Army unit is headquartered there on east molloy rd, and I see massive deer every day I drive through the marines land. Too bad it is high fenced and has razor wire at the top. Plus gate entrances are locked. I've talked to people about hunting it and no one has a problem with it but haven't talked to the right person yet with access to the gate and authority.

  25. We used to have some targets set up on company property at work where a bunch of us guys would go out at noon and practice shooting the bows. I had the bow set for around 70# back then. One of the guys from work spotted us and decided to come over and watch. I asked him if he wanted to try a couple shots. This guy was a huge guy with a pretty muscular build so I really didn't think there would be a problem. Yeah, you guessed it. He couldn't get the bow drawn, even after several tries. I on the other hand could shoot the thing for hours even though I am rather average in terms of build. The point is that there are very unique and specialized muscles used in drawing and holding a bow. Frankly, I don't think there are any simulation exercises that can beat simple repetitive practice using your bow as an exercise tool.

  26. Give the deer superman's genetics, I don't care. A 1.5 is still influenced more by birth date, food/water, and environment. To even reference genetics when talking about the relative size of free range 1.5s is doing so not based on sound management science or principles - it's just plain silly.

  27. if it satisfies your reason for hunting, shoot it, if not, don't.............

  28. Bow = the one you are most comfortable with and can hold at full draw for at least a minute ( or more ). Tree stand = one that is sturdy and does not woble when you move around and one that has a swivel seat. ( buy extra 1" 0 load biders to make it more secure. And by all means buy a good safety harness and strap.

  29. I was just shooting my bow last weekend. First time ever even shooting a compound. I bought a Fred bear element used This was my best group at 20 yards. It's a little low and right but I am still working out the bugs to get it dialed in. It's at the shop now getting tuned up

  32. This is the bag I use. While it's listed as more than you're willing to pay, I actually paid under $50 for it. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3676707&ppp=34&cp=4406646.4413993.4414427.4414468 Every summer, hunting gear usually goes on sale as they make room for their new inventory. You may have already missed the big sales or it might be coming up in the next week or so. As far as what backpack is good for you, I have to agree with NFA-ADK. I spend all day in the field so I usually carry drinks, food, first-aid kit, compass/maps, fire starter, GPS with extra batteries, extra clothing layer, and some field dressing stuff and game calls if I'm hunting and not scouting. Yes, some light trips, the bag is bigger than I need it to be but I rather have it empty during light treks than have to have multiple bags for different occasions. As far as which bag is best for you, to me, bags are like clothes. You have to try them on and see how they feel on your back. Each individual is different. If I'm going to have something strapped to my back all day like several miles, I want it to be comfortable, hugs my back, and holds it's weight well. Heavy duty waist straps are makes a huge difference.

  33. I have a 5 arrow quiver . I take 3 broadheads ( 3 blade Rage ) and 2 field tips . When I get bored , I will pick a clump of weeds , whatever and shoot one of the arrows at it just to make sure everything is working . I leave the Remote at home .......
