Why are there so many idiots out there faking cougar sightings?? I mean I have actually seen a few around Highland Forest, in Onondaga Co., and I even killed one once on my front porch with my pocket knife (photos got destroyed in a mud slide), but why lie about it.7 points

Wow; bullets flying by the standers head, shooting and hitting a skylined buck, running with loaded guns and trying to shoot a deer in a herd that is running. Awesome.... I'll be passing on buying that DVD thank you.6 points

Welcome Zach! So glad you decided to join us. ( I didn't know he did, until after he signed himself up.) There are some really great people and hunters here. They are always willing to help with any hunting and outdoors questions. I have learned a lot from them myself! Just pull up a seat and join in anytime! You are the best hunting buddy a grampy could ever ask for. I too, Iook forward to this hunting season with you and all the hunting seasons we will have together. I love the time we spend together. Your enthusiasm and always being there, keeps me young. I'm so proud of you and love you very much. Thanks for the nice comments. You guy's are awesome!6 points

My son and I built two today in the rain. Used nothing but what the woods provided. My 13 yr old said, "Dad this is cool". Good times Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk4 points

I had a similar problem with a stand. I knew who owned the stand, mailed him a note with a deadline to remove it if it was his. It was gone by the deadline. Damaging the wall and cutting a road for his ATV is beyond the pale.3 points

Not my style of driving, but fun to watch. Except for the shot uphill with rifle where the hunter couldn't tell what was over the crest of the hill... that wasn't cool.2 points

I feel it's all about the parents or mentors in just about anything. Take driving a car for instance. What is a young person going to learn from a poor or reckless driver? So many things, good and bad, are learned from what a young person observes. We can't lump all the responsible parents and mentors, with the few wingnuts out there who know little more than the one's they are mentoring.2 points

At bottom of a REPLY, go to MORE REPLY OPTIONS at bottom right. ATTACH FILES will appear at bottom of new screen. On your PC, simply find the locations, the photos and choose them. Not sure how this is accomplished when logged-in on a phone. Must be a very similar process though.2 points

I've shot a pile of deer on drives. But now that we're "managed" that's out on the farm . We always had the watchers 1/2 mile or more from the drivers . You post up where the deer are going to generally for us across a large field to the next patch of cover. By the time they get there they often stop and stare before committing to entering it, that makes it easy to drop 1,2 . We had exact trees and bushes they run to every time . " you stay behind this bush and don't move, they'll pop,out of that little dip in the field" I miss that .2 points

Agreed, most guys have a very hard time aging a deer that still has his "summer body". Once that deer starts to get a little testosterone in him people will swear he's older than 5.5. Definitely a beautiful deer that goes a long way to show what time can do. Genetics and nutrition are great but the #1 factor is age.2 points

Shooting off the bench with the lead sled is one thing for me. I can get 1 inch groups from my cheap savage too. But like you, shooting freehand is another whole ballgame, and a six inch group is pretty darned good! I have never been what I consider a great shot. Lots of guy's can and do outshoot me at the range. But I very rarely miss a deer.2 points

No thanks.... I will do a 2 or three man "still hunt/push" but that's only late season.. and they aren't running... we still hunt an area and see if we can either sneak up on deer or gently move them out of cover into range of the other person..1 point

It was in my parents yard on Lake road in Webster near Bay road. Dad said his back outside motion light kept going off .... We Found some really big " deer tracks" in his garden that was a little weird I'll tell you !!!! It was later spotted bedded down in a backyard / field two houses away . I would only be guessing on how long ago that was, but it was on the news.1 point

The soap came in 2 packs and i believe she got them for a nickel a pack. I know it was damn near free after the coupons.. so it was pretty cheap compared to the price of a hot fence.1 point

Years ago, I invested in a multi-fletcher. I make and maintain all my own arrows. Have done so for decades. I suppose you can just "stick" it back on, but you may be setting yourself up for sending a few more arrows through the fence gap ..... lol. Also, I don't know how much helix or offset you have on your fletching, but vanes really want to stay straight unless being held with a jig-clamp. It may not be as easy as you are thinking to get that vane stuck back on and actually get it to stay there. Also, the old glue should be completely removed, and the shaft cleaned before trying to glue on a new vane.1 point

I have to say though, that it is the PARENTS that allow the over involvement in things like sports. I can't begin to tell you how many parents I see with kids in multiple sports that are winter, summer, fall, travel this and competition that. they honestly believe little Suzie or Timmy has the talent and "really has a shot" In almost every case the ones that I know are delusional and are trying to relive their youth in their kids.1 point

Funny i see many of these sights on Letchworth every opening day. And i dont believe people are putting drives on? How many have shot a buck after it was jumped or shot at by someone else first. Not much diff...1 point

Parents should decide, after all, they know their kids best. Personally, I probably wouldnt have let my daughter pull a trigger on an animal before she was 9. I dont think she was quite ready before that.1 point

That buck is not 2.5, hes not a 3.5 either. Forget the rack, look at the body. Belly sag, shoulders and quarters evenly sized, legs look proportionate, bottom of neck connects fairly low on the chest. 4.5 minimum, but Id say 5.5, possibly older. Those pic angles are tricky, but if you look, you'll see what I mean.1 point
