Crap ! Daylight Saving Time ends this coming Sunday . That means I have to get an earlier start in the morning for any hunting for the rest of the season . I hate that !8 points

I once had an injured deer walk into my yard. After 2.5 seconds of deliberation on whether it was 'seeking help', I killed it and eventually ate it. The Disney-Brains are voters. That's the scary takeaway here. On the other hand, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. Almost as good as the woman asking to move the deer crossing signs. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=%22move+the+deer+crossing+signs...%22&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-0017 points

I watched 9 does/ button bucks feed for 2 hrs last night,4-6pm.. back and forth between my secret spot plot w turnips mix and the corn that it borders ... all within 30 yards of me the whole time.. i wasn't going to shoot any of them since doe numbers are "low" here in 8P and i was waiting on a good buck anyways but when zero bucks showed and the does stuck around until before climb down time, i figured id rather spook them by shooting one of them, than spooking them off myself.. it worked lol doe tag filled To top it off i waited for her to get in front of my browning trail cam before taking her.. hopefully got a couple good pics on there! Ill check it tonight6 points

Well just to support you die hards. I am in the kitchen making up a big old pot of venison chili And cooking up venison steak on the grill With stout mushrooms While these two wander into the back lawn to eat apples They better look out I got doe tags!4 points

Apparently these commentators know nothing about animal medicine. Had they had any knowledge they would know after a certain age in the deer they do not respond well to anesthesia. Beyond a young age when they come out of anesthesia they can literally go insane and freak out and die that way, so it's better to put them down. Sad but true. As a source I know vets who have told me that as well as a farm where I once brought my pet deer to live, yes I had a pet deer and it was awesome Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk4 points

Im Not an expert on bison and or arrow weight, but i don't think i would try an archery harvest on a 1400lb animal with what your setup is, for an ethical clean kill.. unless maybe you can quick pick up and dial in a much heavier shaft and broad head plus more draw weight to be safe..3 points

I believe he was being facetious in asking what the 'v' was. Kinetic energy will increase faster by increasing the velocity ( being that velocity is squared)versus the weight. Although kinetic energy and momentum are two different things. Do I think he could kill a buffalo with his setup? Yes, absolutely... With the right shot/distance. Wouldn't be an ideal setup but doable. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk3 points

I agree with the above posters...I ain't risking getting my mangy old butt kicked by a damn deer !! Having said that, once when I was young, dumb and bulletproof, I crawled under a junked car with a bayonet to finish off a wounded porcupine.. True story..I'll let you all guess as to whether ALCOHOL was involved in that incident... I managed to escape without getting a face full of quills, but it was touch and go there for a couple of minutes..3 points

No offense, but I want them minimizing their time on this BS. Because that is what it is when comparing a deer to their mission at hand, saving PEOPLE's lives. Look, we all want the best for the deer in that scenario. But, at the end of the day, quickly resolve the disruption and get back to saving lives. If one person died as a result of that effort to "save" the deer, that's pretty darn screwed up. Screw the "good press" component.2 points

I just went through my daughters Hunters Ed class, and when the ECO came in, he answered a question about that. He said the land owner would be perfectly within his rights to keep the deer someone else shot, that died on their property, as long as he had his license and tagged it properly. Nothing DEC can do about it. Thats precisely what the land owner did with the first buck I shot that I talked about earlier in the thread.2 points

Wow, SO much good information there, BellR and Chris B! Thanks so much. I'm printing that one out to keep!2 points

If Im there I ask the cops if they just want me to shoot it. The answer has always been yes. Saves them paperwork. They have always just turned their lights on and blocked the road so I can get it done and drag it to the shoulder. Im not going near the deer with a knife or crowbar and risking getting kicked.2 points

If deer are low in density in a certain area, its usually because the habitat cant support higher numbers. If the food is available, and they arent overhunted every year, the deer will be there. Do you have any idea how much a relocation program like that would cost?2 points

....with multiple heavy arrows while chasing them on horse back. don't think that's an option for him.2 points

Maybe we should have saved it and let the smart deer vote and strip the commenters of their rights to vote. Perhaps then we could have a POTUS with a brain!2 points

Wow these people vote, Be serious guys things like this are why we are having are rights stripped one little piece at a time, Its the uneducated people that we should be scared of.2 points

Just let me know as i have had some interest. We will not be staying in the cabin as we have a camp outside the park so whoever takes it can bring 3 or maybe even 5 other buddies with them and have at it. Party and hunt for a week works for us every year. Very cheap stay and a great place to hunt plus its the only way now to get on the park and you are good to go for the rest of the season..Not just the week of your stay. If you have a good pair of hiking boots and a good set of lungs i could hook you up with some primo spots to possibly see and take the biggest buck of your life. The work is there but the rewards can be huge!2 points

So sitting in one if my favorite stands and at 6pm I see a doe walking on the edge of a ridge/brushline. Not a minute behind he I see one of my top 5 buck I have on camera just following head up not sniffing the ground, so i try various calls and of course he's not leaving the doe, the just walk down the ridge away from me and dissappear from sight and hearing. About 615 I see a doe walking the field edge toward me just walking and she comes to within 50 yards and cuts in the woods ,right behind her is the buck just walking along he get to 50 yards and turns broadside,I am debating the shot as I practice it I know exactly how far he is and he's not allarmed. As I am doing this the doe pops out in a lane 23 yards below me and continues to walk by the stand on the way to an apple orchard. Figuring the buck will.follow her same has he has for last 15 minutes I'll have am easy shot at 23 yards .. nope he turns 180 and walks into a set of 15 year old pines and dissapears... the doe continues to orchard and it's sun set so I get down take the long way around back to the house as not to disturb her or the buck.. Why couldn't he just follow the doe ,all I can think is he got sick of her teasing and went looking for an easier woman....lol2 points

Why do we spend hard earned money on hunting gear? Why do we get out of warm beds at 4am or earlier? Why do we walk or drive in the dark to get to our spots? Why do we sit for hours in all kinds of weather, and see no deer? Why does our hearts skip a beat when a deer is spotted? Why does our hearts pound and we breath hard at the sight of a big buck? Why do we accept that sometimes it just doesn't work out? Why are we so happy when it does? Why are we happy to see young hunters, friends and family get a deer? Why are we most at peace in the deer woods? Why? Because it's who we are as hunters and sportsmen.2 points
