.......and he has been out during daylight hours . Time on pics is off by 1 hour . also had several pics of a doe bedded down in front of camera at night . She knew that there was a camera there .5 points

Well it's been a long season to say the least but I finally got it done.5 points

As you know we had a great opening day. I said all those bucks shot were never captured on our cams. I was wrong about mine. My brother went through some pictures of late summer and there he is in full velvet. i think that is pretty cool…...4 points

Give some to the dog ,they say dogs won't eat rotten meat ... but i have seen a rottweiler eat a TV remote and swallow the batteries and not miss a beat ,so second thought , don't give it to the dog as a test.4 points

I see a bunch of venison. The smaller cuts are most likely the flank meat (from the neck) and then some of the boneless roasts from the hind quarters cut up into boneless chops or steaks. Save yourself $80 and watch a youtube video on doing it yourself. It is much more rewarding and you cut it into what "you" want, not what someone else wants to do. I learned from my FIL and then taught a few of my buddies. If I see another deer this year and get a shot, I will make a video and post it up.4 points

Opening morning 8pt. Was chasing does behind some blowdowns before he followed one out about 120yrds heading toward the swamp. This was a buck I had never had on camera until i checked them that day he was on both from the week prior.4 points

It's silly to say the rut is over....It is a dynamic event, starting about the beginning of October and ending perhaps in early January in New York. Of course there are peak periods when the most estrous does are available, usually in early to mid November, but some does come in earlier, some later, and some do not get bred in their first heat and come back in about a month later. Whenever a doe comes into heat, there are always bucks willing to accommodate her. Kinda reminds of MYSELF when I was younger...<<smile>>..4 points

Thanks. I feel alot better about it after the wife's approval and then eating it. Just ordered a foodsaver gamesaver. Going to repack all the meat. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk3 points

Wife says go, you go! Not to make light of it but the sniff test is the deciding factor. Just don't overcook any of it, as that's a sure way to make it inedible. Medium rare at most. Congratulations on your deer.3 points

A ten and a twelve. Two different bucks. And absolutely beautiful slob bucks! Ya gotta get a tag on one! Best of luck!3 points

He would have gotten a "different" opinion had he been the guy that killed the biggest buck of his life in that area and saw numerous doe... the writer's opinion is based on his experience which is a valid opinion based on "his" experience. There are many factors involved in why hunters are or are not seeing deer. All opinions are strictly relative to any hunters personal experience in the woods. I'll bet you could find many hunters that would claim the opposite as the writer based on their hunting experience thus far. I'm not saying you're overrun with deer... but I'll bet it isn't as bleak as some might think3 points

My opening day double. Took these two out of 9 does that walked out into our food plot at 8am. Let my son track the big doe 150 yards to where she piled up in the brush.3 points

Not too often that I get up in the trees anymore, either. So glad you had an enjoyable ,last hunt of the year. Some of my best and most memorable hunts, didn't involve killing a deer! By the way, I think the hat and beard look pretty cool! Happy hibernating papabear!2 points

Ok, I have three days I picked up a really nice buck(s) on one of my cams. I am really struggling to tell if this is one buck or two different ones at this point. Pics are in 3 groups, 10/31, 11/21 and 11/22. 10/31 11/21 11/222 points

As long as he uses his bow I believe he doesn't need one....only if planning on using xbow or BP does he need it Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk2 points

I don't mind a couple fresh inches ( watch it !) , good for picking out movement in the thick stuff and tracks tell a tale we can learn from. Very good for those marginal shots no one here ever makes, to follow the sparse blood trail . For those of us that drag deer out snow is good !2 points

lucky you! I know what it said, I was excited but the employees clarified it was just their generic stuff. Poor advertising in my opinion. I actually bought the vx3 off optics planet yesterday. They had it marked down plus another 11% off and free shipping. When I did the math with rebate I paid only $5 more than the cabelas price because I didn't pay tax. $340 I think?2 points

Not only have we not have any snow, we haven't had a really cold spell during gun season. May get cold for a day or 2 but then we are back up the 50's2 points

Bill, Your advocacy to maintain the status quo on fall turkey hunting is different. The DEC does NOT require legislative approval to close or shorten a season. However, to reinstate or establish a season, the State Legislature and the Governor needs to give the DEC the green light. Since anti-hunters in NY are capable of reaching policy makers with 8,000 letters in forty days, and hunters generally do not engage at all, other than voicing their opinions among themselves, it is indeed is a challenge. Another way these matters differ, is that the wild turkey strategy is a biological issue. The mourning dove issue is purely a social issue. While anti-hunters try to sound scientific by mis-characterization or embellishment of biological principles into their mourning dove narrative - to create the illusion of a scientific debate, it is not, it is merely a political debate.2 points

The New World Order: one enormous communist government ruling the planet. That's the goal. Mr. Obama is in Paris pushing hard for it as we type, under the guise of 'climate change' talks. He would like to be the king, and George Soros would like to see him seated in that position. Some of the politicians may want to give away our sovereignty, but I'm hopeful that the citizens of this country will wake up and fight back. It's not too late. It's time for new leadership in the US.2 points

The "typical stuff" is #1…Dress in layers. but do it right. remember that you want a base layer and then a layer on top of that to suck the sweat away. 1 or 2 layers of under armor with cotton or polyester over that. Then your heavy hunting clothes.. Wool socks as the first layer with cotton socks over them to suck the sweat away from the wool. And keep your neck warm….Wear a warm knit hat and a neck gator or scarf.. a warm head and neck make a huge difference...2 points

This one could not be more true. I almost flipped when I heard my daughter, then six tell me what she learned in school, how hunters are hurting mother nature. I was so pissed!!!! Instead of causing a scene at school, I explained how hunting helps the animals people love to see in the wild and she went back to school to tell all her friends. Teach them what they need to know not your opinions!!!!2 points

Many states, some of the best for whitetail hunting, have firearms seasons well after the rut. This season's opening date wasn't arbitrary, its just the calendar layout for the same opening date formula that has been used since we moved to Saturday opener (and even before with the Monday opener, just switch to the Saturday logic).2 points

You are better off hunting food sources close to very thick cover. Than waiting for a second rut after December first. JMO2 points

It only took 8 weeks but I was finally able to connect. Sat in my ground blind tonight. She came out at 3:20 walking through the tall grass. Was at 10 yards at one point but I had no shot. She finally cleared and turned broadside at 36 yards. The Obsession bow and Rage broadhead did the rest. She ran about 40 yards and piled up from the double lung shot. Glad to finally get one on the ground! Let's hope it's all down hill from here. She dressed out at 105 lbs.2 points

You wont see many trucks, but each piece gets driven 2 - 3 times a week by different groups in the area. During bow its quiet, but come gun season its the opposite.1 point
