  1. Fortunately for us teal showed up after hurricane Francine hit SE Louisiana September 11. It took some time but by the second weekend of the season they were in our area. We had some real good hunts. Vegetation is good in our area with plenty for the teal to eat and stay around. I shot some video of one of the hunts with a couple of young guys that are in our club. We hunt in 3 or 4 man wood structure platform blinds we pull the boat behind to get out of and hunt. The guys know the drill and showed up to hunt with tennis shoes on. I might be spoiling them a bit too much when they come dressed like that. Also, in the video you will see the homemade spinners we use, you don’t need a duck body with wings to make it work. The teal don’t care and try to land on them sometimes. Overall, a good September teal season for us. https://youtu.be/_YHwudGAi9U

  2. Prop owner mowed right under me till 6:15, like clock work he shut the mower off and here they came, doe, button, and doe fawn, shot right under her misjudged the distance, forgot range finger. They had no clue what happened and kept feeding. They’ll be back.

  3. Been using the conventional hot seats while hunting for many years, they can become a bit uncomfortable if sitting on a cold log or wet ground for extended periods of time. I am going to try and give my Butt a break with a bit better seat this season so I picked up something different to try. Used it a couple of times Squirrel hunting and it is pretty good so far. Al

  5. For Maine its my Browning Bar 30-06 Carbine . Weighs only 6 1/2 lbs , fast as lighting on target acquisition with the Leupold VX6 1x6 Firedot scope with duplex reticle . There are only 50 of these rifles that were ordered from Browning by Performance shooting of Constable NY back in 2017. That was the Browning Bar 100 year anniversary. The serial numbers reflect that . The sequence was A100201 through A100250. I bought numbers 226 and 231. Best shooting rifle I ever used in my life. I hunt with one and the other is stored away. But I still bring my Rem 742 30-06 with me that my Grandfather gave me as backup . i usually carry it on one of the 7 days I'm up in Maine as tradition to honor him for always bringing me hunting as a little kid.

  8. Well Walz got his ass kicked almost as bad as Biden did in his debate performance, I like his taking a page out of John Kerry imitation of being a hunter playbook, that guy would sell the hunting and shooting communities out in a heartbeat. he is a Democrat and the worst kind of Democrat. For those that do not remember Al October 21, 2004 Associated Press BOARDMAN, Ohio - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said he bagged a goose on his swing-state hunting trip Thursday, but his real target was the voters who may harbor doubts about him. Kerry returned after a two-hour hunting trip wearing a camouflage jacket and carrying a 12-gauge shotgun, but someone else carried the bird he said he shot. "I'm too lazy," Kerry joked. "I'm still giddy over the Red Sox. It was hard to focus." ---------- Commentary: Hmm....he lacks the focus to carry a goose, but he isn't at all concerned about carrying and firing a shotgun. He says he's ready to handle the "hard work" of being President, but he's "too lazy" to carry the bird he supposedly shot. Although he claims to be an avid hunter, Kerry has never joined the 315-member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus. And extremist groups know his true feelings about hunting. John Kerry has a 100 percent "A" rating from radical animal "rights" groups like PETA and the Fund for Animals. UPDATE! The Drudge Report has exclusively published the Reporters Pool Report On Kerry Hunting... Not that it was staged or anything, Loftus explained: "He's going to walk down that line of corn. He'll turn down there and walk up this way. Then we will move with great dispatch up there." No questions were to be asked, we were informed. Woody, the yellow dog, was the only one who seemed to stray from stage notes. He kept running up to the man ahead carrying the fourth bird, then racing back to the four hunters, only to tag them and race back ahead. "The dog is out of position," sighed one shooter. More revelations: Kerry camo purchased just prior to photo-op; no reporters saw him fire, no reporters saw him hit; did NOT take bird as he exited our state on his private jet...

  11. Suffering a catastrophic loss; desivating. Dealing with a business that capitalizes on people's misfortunes for profit using zopholes as an excuse not to compensate, inexcusable. I always say, when the going gets tough, hunt. Great stress reliever. Great confidence builder. Nice pick me up. Here's hoping you do well, Steve D !

  12. I crack up at these big name personalities-stars and politicians scrambling about, and tossing their endorsements to the various political candidates. Like it is going to influence who I vote for-NOT!!!. My votes go to the party whose candidate and policies support "ME" and my outdoor life style. REPUBLICAN all the way down the line! Al

  13. Putting aside my .270 for the first time and will be using this golden oldie this season. Bought it last summer as you see it along with 24 rounds of ammo for a whopping $100 from an older gentleman who did not want it anymore. Don't think I ever had a greater deal in my life. Gave the man what he asked for it. It's the Savage model 99f in .300 Savage. Ammo is not easy to find anymore but was lucky enough to find 3 boxes this past Spring so it's going hunting with me this season. Shoots minute of deer all day long and it's an absolute delight to carry. Feels way better in your hands than any bolt action I ever handled. Hopefully it gets to bring something down this season.

  14. Ironic you should mention State Farm. It just so happens there are a bunch of property owners in Farmington that are complaining about All-State. It has been reported on the news and Senator Pamela Helming has been involved. https://www.whec.com/investigations/news10nbc-investigates-i-wish-i-knew-how-to-get-a-hold-of-everybody-homeowners-unite-over-allstates-handling-of-hail-storm-damage-claims-allstate-responds/ We fought for 18 months(using an attorney) just to get the amount we were entitled to for the "structure" and another 7 months in court for the contents. You are correct on the full replacement value coverage and you can't have enough documentation to support your contents value. It is not just us. I couldn't begin to tell you how many horrible insurance stories we have heard since our incident. We have been trying our best along with others to advance Senate bill S1797 & Assembly bill A7139. They have been sitting for over two years. New York is one of three states in the country that does not have "unfair claim settlement practice" laws that will help policy holders. https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2023/A7139 https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2023/S1797
