  1. we are #1 worst state for a lot of things but it is a beautiful state. If we got some representatives that would actually represent us we might actually be #1 at something positive.

  2. I really think schools are attempting to train our future adults to be afraid of, and hate, guns. If they get enough people thinking that way, it makes it that much easier to ban guns down the road. Im not a conspiracy guy, but given these irrational decisions, made by schools, it makes me think. Last week a 6 year old little girl was suspended for having an "L" shaped piece of paper that her teacher said looked like a gun. I think it was in Philly.

  3. So no more playing coyboys and indians with finger guns at recess? Oops, I said "indian" and that's not PC. Guess I will be expelled for the finger guns and in home detention for the derrogatory term. Yes, they have all lost their minds and trying to take a page out of Obama's play book of brain washing and indoctrination.

  4. This is a sad statement for our country ! We have a group of children that can't read, write, spell, entertain themselves or make change from a dollar bill without a computer and we worry about CRAP like this as a viable threat...... We need to let the teachers be teachers and parents disciplin their kids as PARENTS should and these problems will end. When I grew up guns were tools around the house like my father's hammer and saw. You didn't touch them or risked the wrath. You learned how to work, and had to earn things you wanted in life. You learned that life wasn't fair, there were bullies, bad people and you were expected, NO taught, to make good decisions or there were consiquences......I hope we see those days again for our children.......there are not bad guns, there are BAD people.....a second grader playing with a pop tract hardly counts....I grew up playing "war" and mock military games in the woods with friends..when old enough we hunted, fished and traped together..we respected life, wildlife, other's lands and waters....we were afraid of doing wrong, we worked all summer at early ages to earn a gun for deer season or a bicycle we wanted. We then took great care of those items because they didn't come easily, we earned them.....

  5. Had a recent experience with my pistol permit that I've decided to share. It goes on for a bit but please jump to the lessons learned/thoughts at the end if you get bored. I'm hoping that more gun owners will be inspired to contact their legislators to end the silliness. I’d possessed an unrestricted pistol permit for 23 years. On August 28, while getting my permit amended, the county clerk added hunt and target restrictions to my permit. Schenectady County has a procedure set up that may allow a person to obtain an unrestricted permit, however the course is $200, requires one to bring 4 boxes of ammo ($100 for my 45) and some particular holsters. I didn’t like the expense and I figured my case was unique so I wrote the issuing agent a letter requesting the restrictions be removed. To demonstrate proper cause (or at least show that I know which end of a handgun the bullet comes out of), I noted: I had an unrestricted permit for approximately 23 years (obtained fall of 1989 in Herkimer County and later transferred to Schenectady County). I have hunted responsibly since the age of 14 including successfully hunting deer with a handgun. I am a NYS Hunter Education Instructor. I am qualified by the NRA as an Instructor for Certified Home Firearm Safety, Certified Pistol and Personal Protection in the Home. The judge’s secretary called to tell me the judge questioned whether my permit was unrestricted in Herkimer County and asked me to prove such. If I did he would consider removing the restrictions. I talked to the pistol permit clerk from Herkimer County and she sent a letter stating that my permit was unrestricted as the judge at the time of issuance and transfer didn’t put restrictions on permits. I forwarded the letter to the Schenectady County judge and he stated that he was inclined to remove the restrictions but I must first submit an amendment form to the County for his approval. So I made an appointment and stopped down to sign the form on October 16th. On October 23rd I received a notice from the clerk that my request for an unrestricted permit had been granted and I picked it up today. Lessons Learned/Thoughts; 1. I asked the Clerk why the restriction was added now. She stated that my permit came up on the system as restricted. (Note: This is after 19 years in Schenectady County.) This baffles me as you’d think this would have come up a long time ago. I’ve made several address changes and amendments over the years. 2. I asked if there was a procedure for removing the restrictions when this happened. I was handed directions to the County’s website to take the course. I chose to write a letter to the decision maker instead, which I sent directly to him. If I’d had my permit for a shorter period, I likely would be stuck taking the course. The time and money spent on the course is no guarantee of restriction removal. 3. Why should we have to pay additional fees (application fees, finger print fees, course fees, etc.) to have your 2nd amendment rights unjustly restricted? We already pay taxes. Why aren’t these services provided with the tax money that we already pay? 4. This just isn’t right. Please contact your Legislators regarding NY’s pistol permit system. In my opinion, at a minimum, it should be: a. shall issue. The Supreme Court has ruled that the right to bear arms is an individual constitutional right. b. consistent from area to area with no restrictions and no special city ordinances (i.e. Albany, Buffalo, etc. and yes, NYC in particular.) Would anyone find it acceptable to have their 1st Amendment rights vary state by state, let alone within their own state? c. up to the individual to carry open or concealed. d. protected from FOIL. Permit holder information should not be a matter of public record. The NY pistol permit system really should be abolished as a whole. Vermont seems to be doing just fine without a pistol permit system, not to mention a few others states out there.

  7. They just released a safe act on pop tarts. 7 plot arts per box capacity, 10 is illegal... I mean c'mon, these people are seriously losing it! The boy had ADHD and plainly said he was in no way trying to make a gun. These anti gun liberals think they are so level headed but in reality they are complete idiots making our society even more scary knowing these types of people walk amongst us. I'll tell you, I'd rather a world full of good guys wih guns mixed with some bad guys with guns then to have a world with limitations on our guns and having people like these teachers and various anti's breeding amongst us. These people are a whole new breed and they seem to be multiplying. Scary...

  11. The limited availability of huntable habitat and its' access to the general public is already coming into play. If you take this current situation and play it forward you can foresee it exponentially getting worse with each passing generation. Logging & development of prime habitat, the large farms being parceled off and the neighborhood mentality of allowing unlimited access will eventually disappear and will contribute to the European hunting style of strictly limited, purchased hunts in our future. Those older civilizations stripped their forests and then were forced to venture westward across the Atlantic in search of new resources. North America has already done the same type of habitat devastation in the original colonial areas (and others). Just a matter of time before we destroy what's left. Unfortunately we're too greedy &/or near-sighted to see what we're doing to our future generations and any hunting opportunities we might will them. Also with the reduced habitat, think everyone can imagine what's in store for the wildlife. Okay - Venting is complete, time to take my soapbox & go home!

  12. My predictions: 1). Antler Affliction will continue to grow, most areas will have AR in place. 2). More & more private property will be posted up, and leasing or joining a hunting club will become more prevalent, unless you want to hunt public land. 3). Bow hunting will become as popular or more popular than hunting with a rifle or shotgun 4). Predator hunting, trapping & small game hunting will make a small comeback, for those who can't afford the price of leasing or joining a hunt club 5). There will be a huntable wild hog population throughout much of the country

  17. It's that old story of voters simply following whatever their family traditionally voted. Record and idealogy be damned. It's a whole lot easier to just walk into the voting booth and vote for the same party year after year. Why confuse yourself with actual issues and voting records and all that other painful stuff. There can be no other way of explaining it.

  18. Even Obama should be embarrassed by this by this absolute CLOWN!!!!! Remember...If someone is breaking into your home, go out onto your balcony and fire two warning shots, into the air, out of your double barrel shot gun. He may as well start wearing a red rubber nose and big floppy shoes.
