  1. I planned a Sunday and Monday hunt on public land for my sons, and we didn't even need to stay until Monday! The doe was shot around 10 AM, the buck, about 5:30 PM. Couldn't have asked for a much better first hunt with my boys.

  7. Shoved off for the Pittsford - Mendon area at 5 am . Was in the stand by 6 am after cutting a few weeds and some low hanging branches . Just before 8 am I saw some deer way across the field . There were 4 anterless and a few minutes later I saw a deer with a small rack . The buck went into the gulley but the does with fawns eased along the edge of the field heading my way . I was in a box blind that I had gotten a few deer out of over the years . As they got closer I stood up and held my bow out over the rail ( learned from a previous mistake to do this ) . Drew back , leaned and let go . Got one of the doe at about 20 yards . I thought they were going to turn into the thick stuff a couple times and didn't want to take a chance on no shot . At least there is one tag that I won't be eating this year !

  8. well saturday morning I was out doing a little scouting around on my property and let my guard down,I was busy looking at some huge fresh rubs that were brand new instead of looking were I was walking, dumb amateur move but I couldn't believe the size of the trees that he was beating up (some 8-10 in diameter I never saw anything even close to this) when I got near a big brush pile I heard some movement in the leaves I looked up In time to watch the biggest 10 pointer I ever saw (and I have a 140 class taken in tomkins county hanging in the cabin) trying to sneak away but I got a pretty good look at him. All I can say I at least I didn't scare the daylights out of him so I think I may have a chance to take him In November since nobody bow hunts in the area!!! I haven't been this excited In a long time , I put out 4 trail cams and set up some licking branches and mock scrapes along the side of his rub line to piss him off I cant wait, now I just have to give him a lot of space and keep my fingers crossed!!!!

  10. Way to go boys. Congrats and keep up the good work. I am always happy to see kids out there hunting and not on x-box or some other video game stupidity

  11. I won't contradict Sogaard's answer, but the question does seem interesting. If you "assist" in any way with the hunt, you are considered "hunting." That is why you both need a hunting license. So, two hunters go out to hunt deer. Both "assist" each other in the hunt. Both have a license and a valid tag. Maybe one is driving the deer. Does it matter which one pulled the trigger? According to the rules, they both were "hunting" - and hunting the same deer which is being tagged. Seems that either hunter's tag should be legitimate in that situation. Again, I am not contradicting the answer given. Just wondering about the application of the term "hunting" in the context of tags and licenses.

  13. I got a deer this morning. My 6yr old son loves to help me after I get one. I had him walk in front of me while I dragged it out. He said dad can I kiss ur treestand for good luck. I said sure. Next I saw him doing this. But a smile on my face. Makes me so proud. If my 3yr old son wasn't sick he would be right there with us. I can't wait for the day the both can hunt with me. 15. The lil woman got home, we ate dinner, then she says, "I forgot my phone in my truck. Can you grab it for me?". After a bit of "Woman!.......", I went to get the phone. I opened the door and there was a brand new Mossy Oak hunting coat in there for me. I love my babe! She don't care what I do as long as I keep the health issues in check. She always has by back!

  21. My new camera and lens finally arrived so I took them to the stand this morning. I took it with me this evening too, but forgot to put a memory card in it. Man, did I ever miss out. The last two shots are just fillers from my old camera. More to come soon!

  22. Picked up this little gem today for her. She likes the fit and feel. Going to hit some targets with it tomorrow. I hope it shoots nice for her. It's a savage axis youth muddy girl 7m 08. No accutrigger but I don't think that matters for the way it will be shot. Shots should be within 100 yards.

  23. Who has been out west Elk hunting? I'm looking into going out next year (preferably Montana) or Utah or Colorado. Looking for a good outfitter that wont break the bank but is good and has a good success rate. Or even if you know of good places for public land hunting.

  25. Just a typo guys, wow! Not a scam as I referred you to my website and have been in business over 20 years, now in my 3rd Indoor range location. Look me up David McCarthy Pembroke,Rockland,HIngham Mass. I also ran a rock climbing excursion in st thomas back in 08,09 lots of new yorkers came down for that one. Yes a recent flyover survey showing 40per sq mile and most folks have or know someone who has lyme disease including my dad who still bow hunts here with us at 82. We dont use stands cause theres not much for trees, plus its a pain when you fly with extra gear to bring.Cost is $895 for the 6 day trip min/ max is 4. 2 guests one room (2 twins) , 2 guests in the other room with 4 bunks. I'ts a 3 bedroom house in a great area called madeket anyone familiar with Nantucket knows this area. Ive been hunting here me and dad since I was 23. I am know 48. I can take you where the deer are (bucks) and not many other bow hunters its a great time Alot of land is posted! if you dont know someone with private land you must use the land bank properties. Thats where we can help. No guarantee for a kill thats on you! We move around all day and brush a bit, coffee mid morning and lunch at the local sub shop. You need money for that but I take care of breakfast and dinner at the house. This is not a party either so only serious Bow hunters need respond. The doe permits have never sold out for zone 14 and the limit is now 4 deer per day (up from 2). Doe permits are $5 and we check deer online. Sound good? Amenities? yes flights from Hyannis both ways small engine aircraft on cape air. New rented jeeps or suvs with a driver. Hot breakfast, hot dinner included, but lunch and coffee on the fly(you pay) depends whats happening. House has a deck in the sun grill, tv cable internet great space hot shower lots of room. In the bush you pick out your own spots, trim a few twigs if needed and take a seat for the morning and afternoon post. We show you which way deer are traveling and recommend a position but this is not tv bow hunting. We figure you have a little concept of Bow Hunting to even consider this trip. First timers are welcome thats what a guide is for! Just plan on full days and make sure your bow is sighted in gear is ready and we go out rain or shine. If you want easy guaranteed kills go hunt on a farm.

  26. I purchased Hornady Custom Lite .308 loads for my fourteen year old twins' Savage 11/111s. Both got deer this past Sunday. Both shots were about 75 yards. One deer dropped straight down, the other ran about 10 yards before falling dead.

  27. No mocking my 20.00 brand new garage sale couch!!! It fit just about perfect in the space, was literally brand new, and only 20.00!!! Comfy also. Talk about a score.. I had her shoot my 30-06 a few times before (very few) and it kicked her pretty good. It kicks me pretty good and I would rather have a 7mm 08. I dont need the power of that beast. Thinking of getting lighter recoil loads for me and maybe her. Im going to open a new topic for that.

  38. Garcia what??>>>>I was under the impression that you smoked CIGARS….LOL!!!
    1 point
  39. Yea, I know I should order from JR but then I'd probably smoke more of the rotten things. And I'm only buying the Garcia Vega English Coronas so they're not a big ticket item. Another couple weeks and I may spurge for a little better smoke in anticipation of opening day gun season.

  40. Nope. I have been a Bills fan since I was 10. I am loyal, and even though I once called "Rich Stadium" ( remember those days? ), and got through to the security booth and demanded, "I want the Bills arrested for impersonating a football team!", I am still loyal. I got a visit from my local Fuzz for that one, and had to explain it was just a joke.....That's actually very true. I don't BS. I have no need to.
