So this year im lucky to be hunting deer to begin with, I blew out my knee earlier this year and am happy i got in the woods at all, After 4 months of nothing bigger than this guy on cam, He came by on wed. night so when he offered a quartering away shot i decided too take him, The arrow entered between the second to last rib and last rib on his left side and exited behind the shoulder on his right side, he took off on a death run and 35 yds later piled up, Im happy with him and extremely glad i own a deer cart,9 points

Had three gobblers come by the other day and was fortunate enough to get by bow drawn back and was able to run a Rage Hypodermic through the biggest bird. What a way to cap off a great 2014 turkey season!!!6 points

Took this 8 pointer this morning 15 minutes into our first hunt6 points

You could always have some fun and download a bunch of monster buck pictures and save them to an SD card and then swap it with his.maybe throw in some cougars and Bigfoot pictures too.5 points

Remove the stands support bar? That does not sound smart. The other hunter can come back after him if he climbs in and gets hurt.4 points

I took this shot the other day hiking home from the days hunt. I don't really have an eye for this sort of stuff, but this scene just popped out at me. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and glad I noticed it!3 points

Guess we should stop buying preorbital, tarsal, doe and buck urine scents. Some of the comments are pathetic in their argument and childish. While I do not like high fence hunts, deer farms get a bad rap IMO. And CDW is overblown. But lets just keep bashing the farmer who is actually out hunting right now! Arg.2 points

I never made it to the back stand...hit the woods and every 10 or so yards I'd kick up deer and get snorted...So I hit the stand in the pic with the 8pt I posted the other day..at day break a set of twins came out of the soybeans and disappeared behind me then over the ridge came 22 turkeys and they headed right to me...I stood and readied for a shot...but Mr. B. was nagging in my ear " don't you go shooting any hens"...So I stood there practicing moving with out getting picked off....15 mins later they finally feed off...there must be alot of soybeans on the ground they stayed a good while...20 mins. went by, I see 4 long beards and a jake coming in from the opposite direction...I saw them angleing toward me so stood and got ready when they went behind a pine...the biggest Tom was coming up a trail I'd cleared and about 70 yrds out stopped...I had not moved a muscle ...but he abruptly turned and lead the boys away and along the ridge line instead...he needs to go..just too smart, picking me out of the tree. I hunted in a base layer and hoodie this morning very little wind ...but NOT south west like they said N/W yes..I have remember to make sure which station for our town I look at...... we have several and it makes a huge difference in temps and wind direction and speed due to the hills and lakes.2 points

I see your point from the business end of things. Hell if I could do it I would. But I still think people that hang a deer on the wall that came from a deer farm are some cheating, sorry excuses of hunters, that would rather take the easy road and buy a rack instead of putting in the time and effort. But to each their own. Wouldn't catch me doing it.2 points

This morning was the first time I've been at a high school football game since I played back in the day. Took a ride out to Mount Sinai to watch my nephew play. He's the starting center for the Mt. Sinai Mustangs JV team. They played and beat Kings Park 9-6. It was a lot fun and it brought back a lot of memories of a much younger me. It was great to see these youngsters competing and having fun on the field. All in all it was a real good day!!1 point

I just got my license Friday. I asked the guy at the counter the same question. His answer was that it will be sometime after the 1st. It very well could be the 1st of November but the DEC like to play the cover their ass game and make the answer as clear as unclear can be1 point

Yes, the plastic wadding is supposed to stay attatched to slug. I contacted Lightfield after finding the 2nd one still locked on. They told me its to help flight control and accuracy1 point

That is great!! that is exactly what I saw this morning. A hawk swooped down and took a red squirrel right of the side of a tree as it was running down ..lol I have never seen that before.1 point

didn't you cripple and lose a deer a not too long ago? what was that one shot for, the coyotes?1 point

I too hung a stand in my thicket today. Scrapes all over just everywhere, good sized prints a few rubs .between the nearby goose hunters and farmers cutting beans along thicket ,I was quietest thing in the woods . Clouding up nice,a good rain to cleanse the spot would be the icing on the cake.1 point

Not your property., so I wouldn't touch any of it. I would let the owner know and leave it up to him how to proceed. Just my opinion, but if you touch the stand or cam, it might bite you in the backside as theft or vandalism.1 point

Hung probably one of my best sets the other day in a thicket right before the rain came down. I almost have to crawl to get in, almost lol. But it's nice in there series of runs with a little water feature in between cut corn and standing still. I did a mock scrape with a picking branch so we will see. Sign is still not picking up. But the home owner I have an easement through his driveway to get to this farm said be saw a giant crossing the field the other night. Said he can see his huge rack at 3-400 yards without the binos at first. Think the standing corn has a lot of deer sticking in there1 point

Love pics reflecting off the water like that. My dad took one like that years ago which you can flip upside down and barely tell you've flipped it. Great fall colors in this one. IMO you should print and frame this one.1 point

Maybe this guy will make it another year or 2 ..Lol..he already snuck past my buddy( who is itching for some venison) and only sitting a few hundred yds away..1 point

To me, if you cannot find your way through the woods without polluting the place with tape, maybe you really shouldn't be there. Down our way, the mountain bikers can't seem to follow a rutted up dirt trail without painting trees all the way along with some nice bright paint. Perhaps they should take a long a guide as well .... lol. It seems that everyone needs some sort of visual pollution as soon as they step away from the highway.1 point

The whole it's profitable argument doesn't sit well with me. Anytime there is money to be made it leads to corruption on both sides of the fence. Just because these hunts sell out doesn't make it right. It just tells me that more and more people don't want to work for what they want, which we already know because we see it in all other aspects of life. If your making money off of it, then good for you, but that's a poor argument for ethics. Keeping animals in a fence has been creating problems for years, its not natural and goes against mother nature. Disease is her way of fixing problems, so it only makes sense to me that the more we fence in animals the more disease we will see.1 point

I see they have upped the wind speed for tonight and tomorrow with gust up to 25mph in 8h. Man weekend weather has been awful this year.1 point

I actually moved the stand back and into a much bigger tree. That is the double rail stand I put up this year. I am looking right up into the bedding area 30 yards away. It is on an incline so when they come out of the thick stuff we are eye to eye. The does were picking me right up. After the last hunt I moved it to a much bigger tree and my outline will not be visible, just tree in the background not sky. Yes I did more trimming. Will hunt the stand last two days of bow and then gun.1 point

Wish I was out there. Good luck fellas. BTW did you see the forecast for next weekend, cold, cold,cold!1 point

It was mentioned... Astorino said he would appeal it and the Libertarian candidate also said either it was bad or it should be repealed. You are right - it wasn't discussed. I actually think that is a good thing. Astorino said he would work to repeal the "unsafe" act. That told us folk "in the know" what we needed to know. If the topic was discussed, that gives Cuomo an opportunity to make a "it's for the kids" speech. Hard to counter with uninformed masses. Argue against that and you might be viewed as a "baby killer." In a true debate it might make sense. In a "you have 60 seconds to respond" format with no rebuttal allowed, some topics are better left alone.1 point

They have guns that have been passed around the community , bought and sold with out nics checks .Kind of like what happens in the community , stays in the community . I have had my place for 15 yrs, I guess I'll have to accept the fact that they take deer pretty much all year long. I'll have to make my 175 acres , a deer haven , so they don't have to wander off.1 point

I'm surprised he hasn't come in yet to defend the farms. I guess he's either repelling down into Letchworth or milking his bucks. Probably prime time to be doing that right now.1 point

I feel that hunting animals that are not free range is not hunting. I also think breeding deer for large racks is cheating. The whole system to me is based on people spending money to compensate for a lack of skill or work ethic. But, these are just my opinions.1 point

Right. You know that hunters using buckshot dont sight in their guns? If someone doesnt sight in their gun, I have a surprise for you...it aint the gun or the projectile that is the problem. Its the hunter.I have a secret for you, those idiots shooting remington sluggers at 150-200 yds after only sighting in at 50 and doing a SWAG holdover are crazy and should be burned at the stake. That foster that zipped by my head was just as dangerous as your story of two buckshot pellets. Youre letting fear and emotion rule over logic.1 point

Nice 10 pt. (like the stickers) early this am at the zip-tied overhanging branch...he was one of five bucks (spikes and forks) that hit it this am. Sorry for the poor quality, but there was a dense fog this am here. Later it cleared and a small eight pt. came in.1 point

First time I had it was with a couple of friends on a lunch break during a canoe hunt in 1979. Heart slices skewered on willow sticks over a campfire. We even remembered the salt & pepper, lol. We paddled back in the dark that night with three guys and two deer in a Coleman canoe showing about an inch of free-board.1 point

9 point I took on state land in southern 9P on 10/16. Sitting in the middle of a bunch of oaks, he came out with two minutes left before sunset. Saw a total of 8 deer and a bear that day. First bear I've seen with my own eyes, awesome night. Barred owls talking like crazy as the day came to a close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
