  1. My brother tested me around 9:20 just shot big buck. He waited 30min grabbed the arrow and backed out. He said it looked a little low, it was a 28yrd shot. We met up at my dad's and waited 2hrs and headed in to start the track. We followed the trail and finally found blood, not much though, we maybe went 15yards and we jumped him so we backed right out. Lucky for us our neighbor is an expert tracker and volunteers for deer search. We gave him a call and he was headed back from two calls, both times he recovered. About 3:30 we hit the trail with his dog. My wife dropped off my 8yr old son to tag along. Dog follows trail right off the bat, found his initial bed not much blood. About 150yrds later we jumped him and he takes off fast. Now the bloods pumping and he's leaving a decent trail not that the dogs needed much. We decide to press a little further, another 100 yards or so later u can see where he would stop so we kept going. Shortly after the dog does an quick right towards a ravine. My son and I stay back. I'm thinking the buck might have dropped into the gully, then my son says dad the deers right here and points to my left and it 5yrds away just laying there with his head up unable to move so we put a quick finish on him. Looks like he clipped one lung and maybe the liver. I have no cam pics of him. He did walk my camera seconds before my bro shot him. It's the best one off our land and out of a stand location I picked! He maxed out the 200lb scale, dressed out 175.

  3. Been waiting for a nice buck I have on cam , but today a bear showed up 25 yards facing me. Had bow drawn and was waiting for him to turn ,but he spun and crashed off about 50 yards.. then it came back out at 50 yards but it was to far and to many.little no see um twigs in way . Watched it out to 85 yards .. close.but no cigar.. guess I go back to waiting on my target buck...

  4. I got this video from my last cam card pull. Probably one of the cooler videos I have gotten on cam. A flock of turkeys were coming through when a Redtail Hawk swooped down on them.

  5. Wow,what an afternoon I had. I climbed in the tree around eleven along a field edge with a bunch of oaks in the woods. Sat for a few hours, then saw some deer perpendicular to me about 100 yds away. After a really long time they worked their way over to me. Looked like an old doe and two giant fawns or maybe even last years. I knew I was going to wait for the big doe. Now the two young ones are right under my tree, but i have a bunch of branches between us,good cover. The old doe comes in and I can not get an ethical shot on her. First she quarters to,then branches in my way, then she is right under me as well, bad angle. She walks to the other side of tree,by now I must have drawn 3 times on her. Then she walks back looking around. Finally she is broadside at 12 yds,but a little tree is in the way. I am about to loose it,then a flock of turkeys comes right under my tree while the deer is right there as well. So eventually she walks of into some thick stuff without ever having given me a decent shot. Unreal, but very exciting. That is what bowhunting is all about.

  6. For what its worth, if I based activity on our cam results, I would think its pretty bad. But our sits show otherwise. We had real solid activity these past two weekends, but still not many photos. One afternoon I counted 11 deer and only one was photographed. All were within 40yds of the cam though.

  7. There is way too much Tuesday morning quarterbacking going on right now. People are telling themselves stories. Inexperienced tracker, minimal details, and he needs to get back out there in light to make a better assessment. Let's not pull the cart before the horse. The buck I killed this weekend entered the paddle and exited mid chest and about mid rib count opposite side @ 30 yards. Not a whole heck of a lot of blood due to the deer being slight quarter to and facing up a hillside. Both lungs were toast. Loud crack at impact going through paddle and ribs. We failed to find blood on first 20 minutes of looking at last light and he only went about 70 yds. Let's give this guy a chance this am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. After not picking the bow up off the hanger in 4 years. I figured last night would be a good night to break the drought. decent 2-year old 8 almost a 9 i took at 15 yards. Hit him back a touch as he started walking as I shot. The Rage Hypodermic did its job. Happy Camper. Next stop is Ohio.

  11. The real reason Republicans have a problem with Trump is because the brakes will start to come on the gravy train in Washington if Trump gets elected. They are scared to death of losing their lifetime job and Cadillac benefits. They are ok with Hillary because they really want the status quo and that's what you'll get with her.

  12. Not mine, but my best friend and partner from the farm property. We let him go overnight not sure of the hit. Only went 75 yards, but we let the young dog gain more experience.

  17. Did you hear the guys shot? Look, any quarterbacking beyond tips of where to start (from the beginning) does more damage than good at this point. I don't think anyone wants to shoot the shoulder knuckle - that's what people refer to as the "shoulder". The shoulder paddle is actually very easily pushed through by most all modern arrow and BH combos for an adult bowhunter. It's not a goal for any hunter to have to hit it but most people will kill a deer easily should the shot and deer go that way. The knuckle - it's a small area but if you hit it, odds go down big. 18. He doesn't know where he hit. No way anyone here could know either. Even with a perfect heart lung shot, there can be scant blood for several yards. Waiting for morning and more light is probably the best option for less experienced trackers.

  19. If it was a solid shoulder hit, you might not see much blood, especially if it's high with no exit. Should be some hair around on the ground where you hit it. Are you certain you were looking at the exact spot where it was standing when hit? Maybe you just missed the blood and hair in the dark? It happens, trust me...

  20. Not to make you feel bad, but you owe it to that animal to get back out there and look for that deer! Looking for 45 min in the dark does not constitute giving up. Either get a good light and a buddy and go back out tonight OR go back out in the morning. Weather is on your side... no rain and cold temps! Look up the # for Deer Search and see if they have anyone in your area.

  21. I'd be going back out in the morning, perhaps it was just out of your search area. Best of luck.

  24. Climate change is in fact happening and has happened continuously since long before humans entered the equation. Blaming it on humans is politics at it's worst rather than real science. The ultimate goal of AGW believers is to crush the U.S. economy so that the Nation can be brought heel amidst the Global rise of Socialism. The whole belief that "everyone must suffer equally" has always been a sickening concept to me.

  31. The one thing I worry about with the youth hunt is the ease of finding the bigger bucks and setting unrealistic goals of hunting for thier life. I mean there's a reason gun season isn't in October and a reason why it seems more good ones taken with a bow. Patterned bucks can become dangerous to the sport by getting kids lifetime deer early and their passion may die....again can. Also would be more than pumped to see any kid take any deer. Hopefully a big one but I also hope they are allowed to make the call on what to shoot. Not dad. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

  32. Tonight I'm go a try to do a little rattlin. We'll see how that goes. Haven't seen any bucks yet this season but my trail cam says otherwise. Pretty quiet out so the sound ought to travel well I think.

  34. Good luck Bionic. Greater knowledge will yield better results in my opinion. Good for you on learning new tricks even after 20 years. If you can up the odds by knowing where deer typically bed and travel based on topography, you are halfway there.

  35. Well you dont know me. It'd be upset if they missed. Let me explain something. A thief expects to be robbed, a cheater to be cheated on n a guy who cares if a little kid shoots "his" deer expects us all to feel the same. That deer doesn't matter, the little kid freaking out with his/her dad does. You don't get it well I can't explain better

  37. Sure hope you are feeling better soon! Nice time to get some hunting in when you are up to it! I'd leave out the salted nuts with your cold beer, for a little while. Huge props for checking in 20 min. after recovery! Hope your healing is swift and as pain free as possible.

  38. saddles are lower areas between two ridges (like the shape of a saddle viewed from the side), but not typically the valley. Shelves are flat areas on the sides of ridges - usually good bedding Ridge line is the top of the ridge - Dan suggests looking at the 1/3 from the top on the leaward side (non predominant wind side) of a ridge since that is where thermals and predominant wind meet making it easy for a deer to scent both sides. Valleys can be very productive but tough to hunt due to swirling winds. Draws leading out of valleys can also be very good (thinking of tight pinch where two ridges meet on higher ground - the V leading up to the top between the ridges is the draw. Hope that helps with terminology.

  39. I guess you missed the point, it WAS what Bill did and HOW Hillary treated those woman publically over their disclosures of Billy Boys wrongdoing. She made derogatory and false comments against VICTIMS of sexual assault, pure and simple. Bill made those woman victims any way you look at it. Trump got caught make stupid sexist "locker room" comments....He was wrong, dead wrong, but most of his stupidity was taped during the Howard Stern Show....that's like watching Jerry Springer and not expecting a chick fight.... How is either candidate going to make American strong and safe again ????

  40. Tough to say what happened, the shoulder is the last place any one wants to hit a deer, but it happens. Id def go grid search the whole area, now that many of hours have passed. Kind of sounds like a shoulder or leg hit if he came off the ground like that.. No blood can mean a number of different things depending on the hit location. Ive busted through several shoulder "blades" as i call them and have killed each one. But also have had a big buck take an arrow at 7 yards in that shoulder "knuckle/joint" along with a lung, arrow went in half way and broke, and the deer lived. Saw him the following weekend, limping along on 3 legs with the one shoulder/leg creased up and bound right tight to his chest. Couldnt mistake him.. and missed in the same exact spot the weekend before. Best of luck to you, Hope you find him, keep us posted. We live and learn.. its sad, but its the reality of hunting. We owe it to the game we pursue

  44. I am excited to report my harvest of a doe. So excited that I didn't take a picture until I was skinning her. You will have to excuse that,it was getting dark when I found her and then I had to rush to pick up my wife.

  45. Shot her at 2 on opening day and hit her back due to my arrow hitting the blind window and I let her lay for a couple hours and recovered her around 6.
