  1. I am proud to say that I became the proud grandfather of two beautiful twin girls on Dec. 18, 2016... they were born 2 months early and they will have to spend some time in the hospital until they put on some weight, but they are doing well... and so another chapter in life begins.

  2. This handsome guy is my neighbors dog. He's the very definition of a rescue, a DEC officer found him abandoned in the woods on Long Island. The vet thinks he was out there at least three weeks, he was all bones and his ears were frostbit. He lived with some officers for a couple weeks and they named him Bill but they couldn't keep him so I drove down and got him for my neighbor. He's an awesome dog. They asked the vet why he was so docile at first and the vet said "because he's grateful". Anyway I'm watching him this weekend so I posted him up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. There was one buck that I was hoping to see when I put my cams back out the last day of muzzleloader season. I was pretty surprised to see "Hooks" had shown up several times in the past week!!! I would love to snag his sheds. Hopefully, he is more visible this summer. Not the greatest genetics but a pretty cool buck!

  9. To me, one of the best parts of running trailcams is the opportunity to follow individual bucks over multiple years.. You never know which deer will be the one you end up developing a history with (hardly ever the ones that you want to see grow up). I first noted this buck back in the summer of 2014 as a 2 year old 6-point. Digging through pics from a few months prior, I realized that he had showed up on the farm in January as a broken racked yearling . It was apparent that he wasn't ever going to be a high scorer but had some really cool character to his rack. I was happy to see him show backup on cam during post season scouting. Unfortunately, he was already shed out and appeared to have been wounded during season. With the all the deep snow/frigid weather we had through Feb and March, I was certain he wouldn't make the winter. He proved me wrong and I was shocked to see him in a bachelor group in late June! It took another month before he showed up on one of my cams. You could see the scar above his shoulders from his close call the previous fall. I got some good pics of him on scrapes during bow season and then he disappeared, but once again showed up in late December but only one time. I did have several sightings of him in a neighboring beanfield carrying his antlers into late February and was excited to see what he would over the summer. The drought that we experienced in the Finger Lakes Region really affected the deer's patterns and he never showed up on any of my cams over the summer and left me wondering what he turned in to...

  11. I remember when I first started my sister and I walked in at stewart to meet my dad there was a group of hunters including my dad and when we said morning .The others were like girls. They wanted to know where we would be hunting so they would be farther away from us . My father was so proud of us . He said they are my girls and they most likely shoot better then you and will sit longer and respect people better then you. Hi girls .

  14. I am a lone hunter...I liked camp for a day or two but before we had these home lands I staggered my hunting to go with when camp was empty. Being the only bow hunter, before teaching the kids I had the place to myself...and the same with Turkey...I hunt a bit harder than the guys, always have...I don't use the 4wheelers unless dragging is needed,go in and leave usually after dark . Use scent control, calls, scout, and plan. Also stand sets, I have many many many more sets than they would ever have and ground blinds. The woman I've met seem to enjoy being lone hunters as well....not as crazed as me,but independent.

  25. I find it laughable the leftist anarchists suddenly have no problem with the so called "separation of church and state" when churches want to help criminals evade prosecution. The hypocrisy is predictable.

  30. Here's the gateway drug goose from last year. The guides had me pose with my duck stamp, they got a huge kick that I was using my own stamp on my first waterfowl hunt. Only the top goose is mine; the others are from the good shooting from the rest of the group. Foolishly I didn't think to test the nontoxic shells I was using that day in my shotgun, and my gun didn't like to eject them properly and jammed after the first shot. I will still tickled as could be to have been there honestly so I wasn't even mad! CRCS is who sponsored my hunt and I am very thankful. This was in Allegany.

  32. I am beginning to wonder if Obama is slipping over the edge a bit. Some of his most recent moves seem to be designed to deliberately sabotage the trump presidency with an attitude of "the country be damned". This Russian payback fiasco which may turn out to be an Obama pipe dream. And now the Obama orchestrated Jewish blind-side of the UN vote on their homeland settlement issue. What is going on with this guy. Has he lost it because his worthless legacy is likely going to be shown as trash? Or perhaps he is just holding his breath, laying on the floor and kicking his feet because Trump is getting more news attention than he is. He kind of indicated that that sort of bothers him with his "There can only be one President" remark. Is he going off the deep end because he presided over a most disastrous political loss in the recent election, the blame for which lies right on his doorstep. And now he is throwing Hillary under the bus stating that if he had been running instead of that clown Clinton they would have won the election. What more is a crazed lame duck president capable of? The possibilities are very scary. He is in a position of doing some real damage to the Trump presidency and the country, and lately it doesn't seem to bother him a whole bunch that his little hissy fits over his failed presidency is stirring up a lot of headaches for this country. Nothing compared to the damage done in his two terms, but reckless and irresponsible nonetheless. I won't be breathing easy until this guy is stripped of all political power and vacant from the political scene and a more mentally stable Trump finally takes over.

  34. Those Springfields ARE heavy....My 03A3 sporter weighs nearly as much as my M1 Garand....Of course they can be lightened, but removing that extra weight cost $$$... I did a little search on the .35 Krag....Even dies need to be custom made...COOL , but not too practical, at least for a poor old white boy like me...

  38. Pyg I thought of you today. I was up in kittery and they had a 1903 in 35 krag and it was a carbine! Didn't want much money for it either. It was tempting being a 35 but man was that bugger heavy! I have read about them before but this is the first time I have saw one. I guess it was a somewhat popular wildcat for shot out barrels. 39. Little tip. Slather poultry with mayo before smoking. It's all fat and allows rub to adhere better. All for juiciness factor. Girls got me a cookbook for Christmas. Smoked desserts , bloody Mary's , manhattens , deviled eggs etc. Ought to be fun

  41. I was waiting for a box wine comment ! Well that daughter had a big going away party at Mendon Ponds park, prior to her brief move to NYC, and that is left over , she bought it . Pygmy thanks she is pretty and smart graduated college Suma Cum Laude. My thought is that my Mailman must be very smart and good looking ! She's back here again working at Strong hospital , and recently boyfriend less , hiker , hunter, camper . Fellas must be over 5' 11" though she's currently holding tryouts , dating her does not get one immediate access to my hunting land either ......

  42. Sounds like something one of the ISIS people would say doesn't it. Sentiments that any extreme enemy of the country would say....... or just an idiot.........or both! Is this guy really expecting any credibility? He just sounds like some kind of raving jihadist, make a complete jackass of himself on a daily basis....lol. Talk about an uneducated, a-hole, clown, complete moron, and idiot ..................... What else can you really say about a guy that would wish "complete chaos and failure" on his own country and the people within it.

  43. But I have to admit, in the recent years, I have thought about getting a crossbow. Started with the long bow and recurve in the 1970s and 80's compound in the 90's...85% let off in the new century. The bow, in whatever shape and form has allowed me to successfully hunt deer during archery season. And I am very thankful for that. Isn't adapting to change one of the fundamental hunting strategies? I blew out my shoulder and now learned to shoot lefty. When I can't draw a bow any longer, I hope I can still tote an x-bow up into the stand to still be out there in that magical time of the rut...hunting. I will always remember what Roger Rothhaar, one of the pioneers of modern bowhunting told me once, "Crossbows killed bow hunting hunting in Ohio." To paraphrase.
