  1. The thing is, Wooly is a hunter/naturalist, while the rest of you are hunter/killers. Most here seem to need food plots, game cams, 100 treestands, etc. in order to kill a deer, while Wooly can find deer and any other sort of living critter just by casually strolling thru the woods. That's a HUGE difference in my book. His superb nature photographs are all the proof I need to put him miles ahead of most anyone on this forum. He knows nature and wildlife and respects it. This is something that I admire more than those who only post pictures of their kills.

  4. Sorry, I get a little annoyed when I see guys holding turtles by their tails for hero shots. Most of the time those turtles never needed to be handled in the first place, so lifting all their weight by the end of their spine doesn't exactly do anything to make their day any better. If you absolutely HAVE TO handle a snapper for it's own safety (or if you just enjoy handling any snappers you find like I do), be sure to support them under their shell where they can't do any damage to you, and you wont do any damage to them. If your just handling them incorrectly to impress somebody with how "brave" you are by holding them by the tail.... you still look like a wuss to those who know better and should probably just avoid handling them in the first place.

  5. One good volcanic eruption releases more co2 into the atmosphere than all we have done since the industrial revolution... Co2 is not the problem.. Of it was we would of seen a drastic climate change with the deforestation of North America during the industrial revolution .. Every thing was burning wood and coal.. And take into account t several volcanic eruptions during the same time period sw Asia.. The big change has occured since plastics have been created.. There are plastic islands that act like giant pool covers in our oceans gyers. They superheat and strengthen currents and they effect the jet stream... Also why the North pole is melting (from warm currents under ice) and the South pole is freezing.. Why not solve the plastic problem or even address it? No money in it.. Solar.and batteries.. Open out mining for lithium and silica.produce far more enviromental dangers than co2 that is absorbed by every blade of grass and green plant in the world...

  6. The projected cost to U.S. taxpayers over the next 15 years is something close to 3 trillion dollars, and our domestic job loss is only a part of that. I find it astounding that you would consider that 'chump change' as implied by your previous post. I do my homework on issues I write and comment about. I stake my positions on the facts gathered therein. You're asking me to do the homework I've already done, and asking me to dismiss that homework because you happen to disagree with it. I've been following this for almost forty years and my conclusion is that Anthropogenic Global Warming/Cooling is a hoax. I've spoken with computer specialists and programmers from the IPCC who were told directly that they needed to produce code that would give the results they were looking for. It's an economic scam from start to finish.

  8. Late this afternoon I was in the vicinity of Gander Mountain and thought I'd drop in. The wife and I browsed for 20 minutes and once again, the place just boggles my mind. I'd like to know who the genius is that designed the firearms counter/handgun display?? Black interior of the handgun cases and SALE tags over the freaking hang tags make it a real guessing game. Granted I do know a bit about handguns but there are so many different variants these days it's hard to know the players let alone the teams. Oh and don't rush out for those sale prices just yet.................maybe come January.

  9. I scouted today down in 7M and decided to toss out a few trail cams earlier than usual. On the way in I saw a buck sporting about 3" of velvet, first of the year for me. Among my travels (in a real thick evergreen growth) I stumbled across my first fawn of the year also, I saw it about 8' from me tucked under a tree. I snapped a few pics and let it be. I would've loved to spend an hour getting shots of it but I didn't want to spook it or make it too uneasy. No matter how many times you find them they're always just as cool. About an hour later I was sitting on a log in the sun taking a break and a coyote came by, hopefully he doesn't find what I did. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  10. Hit a couple of gun stores yesterday. Didn't find what I was looking for (CZ 75D PCR or a RAMI), but did walk out with a Walther PPS M2 in 9MM. Cute little bugger, and with their current rebate, will set me back only $369. Not half bad.

  15. Guess I'm a google eyed fan of wooly's too. The guy has forgotten more woodsmanship than I'll know. Although I think nothing personal was directed to ya Grizz. I do understand defending yourself if you feel like you've been dis'd.

  16. It was you that took the tone first... I now know not to pick them up by the tail, info from you.... I won't do it again... I was told that is how you do it... So now I've learned the proper way.. but once again you take a "Mightier than though" attitude that gets you ZERO respect from me. When you learn to properly instruct people in the right way to do things, then and only then will you receive the respect back.. But every turtle from this point on will either be left alone or picked up by the belly... So I guess there's the win from this.

  17. Yeah- I suppose as long as it's not a deer nobody here really gives a crap. God forbid some of you could learn something from someone who knows a little more about a subject without taking offense to it. Just keep patting yourself on the back and pretending you actually give a darn about anything else and continue going about things the way you always have with no desire to learn something new.

  20. I firmly believe it is NOT a mountain lion but it looked strange by the angle.... I hate YOTES !!!

  21. Yup, that be a coyote. After enlarging the pic, you can make out the pointy ears. But it "could" be a mountain lion! We haven't had one of those threads in awhile!

  27. I bought a threepack of p-14 last black Friday for $150. Most reliable camera out out of the five models I have. Simple not fancy at all but clear pictures cheap and reliable. I just bought a new Bushnell trophy cam E3. Like death from above said so far the big plus is camera and time lapse pictures at the same time.

  28. Theyve really got a crappy fishing section. Dicks was worse. Im going to have to take a ride to Auburn for my Cayuga lake visit this weekend. Also if you've got lead bullet weights for Texas rigging plastics hang on to them like grim death! The tungsten they have now are $9.99 for THREE!

  30. Honestly Grizz, when I read Wooly's post I didn't read any attitude into it. I guess that is the problem with the written word in a setting like this. We all hear what we want to hear or expect to hear, no necessarily how it was meant. I've seen more than one blow up on here over things like this.

  31. You commented before I posted my edit. I'd suggest looking at the 800,000 year EPICA data and see the cycles of not only temps but CO2 ,NO and Methane levels. They about mirror depending on the core locations. It also ties about perfectly to the ice ages that have taken place. With more abrupt cycles than we are currently in.

  37. Amazing feat. Know more about mountaineering than climbing and there Rhinehold Messner is a wonder as a free style alpine climber. All 14 8000 Meter peaks without oxygen; cross Antarctica without dogs or snowmobiles, solo across Gobi Desert....... In the late 60's(almost 50 years ago) he was doing free solo (no ropes) in the Dolomites..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVYDVUbHlK4

  39. There is a swamp on my property that has some behemoth snappers in it. I witness this every year when I am out turkey hunting during the month of May. They come into my plowed fields to lay their eggs. Below is a youtube video showing up close how they do it. valoroutdoors.com

  41. Why do you get so worked up when people don't respond to your threads as fast as you think they should? Not trying to tick you off, just curious. Many threads posted on this forum that you can't bothered to reply too. So if people do not reply to you ASAP, maybe they have more important issues going on. Like me, take a look at the news about what's going on my area. As for picking up throw away trash or garbage on the side of the road, out my way people don't toss anything of use. Most find a way to use it or post their garbage on CraigsList. Sometimes they host flea markets or yard/garage sales to get rid of crap.
