  1. The world and certainly this forum, would be pretty boring if we all thought the same. I try to respect ALL opinions. Even if I don't agree with some of them. It definitely keeps things interesting, that's for sure! As I previously stated, I'm all in for keeping the coyote numbers in check. And would even like to see, no closed season on them. But how each hunter goes about taking em out is up to them! If I could afford it, I'd go with one of those real expensive thermal imaging scopes on an AR platform. Now THAT would be cool to me.

  2. She came home today and said after the tournament she wants to go up a grade in her bow. I picked up this Hoyt Ignite from a buddy of mine last year in hope she would shoot it when strong enough. Still need Jeff from Niagara Outdoors to go through it but she handled it good.

  5. Spin and glows or peanuts behind flashers (cowbells really) and bouncing the cannonball has taken tons of lakers on our boat. We usually limit it to two lines because its gets tough keeping with the hits with more.

  6. How does hunting with no seasons, no limits on game whose numbers are so large you can not put a dent in them? Best part of all using an 55 dollar assault weapon with ammo that costs literally small fractions of a cent per shot! Enter the 'Bug A Salt" an air powered mini shotgun pistol that uses table salt for ammo. A friend told me about these things and he was so enthusiastic on how well it worked and the fun he had eliminating flies I had to try one. Depending where you purchase they go in the $55 range, Amazon will not ship these to NY so I purchased mine direct. As instructed I patterned the gun on a sheet of aluminum foil using regular table salt. Once I got the pattern's point of impact figured out I was knocking off various creepy crawlers while relaxing last evening on my deck at close to the three feet maximum range this thing is supposed to have. So all and all while not quite as excited as my friend the Bug A Salt works as advertised and is a heck of a lot more fun than a conventional fly swatter. Al

  7. It's a long story but I intended to fish Honeoye with my boat today but when I got down, I didn't feel so hot and the wind was picking up so I bagged it....the boat has been down in that area since last fall so its not like I dragged it down today. I decided instead to go drown so night crawlers in Canadice from shore. As most know I have a long history in that area and I just find it so relaxing. A few panfish and one dandy smallmouth were my total catch. Sorry pic is sidesaddle.....

  9. I honestly despise stealing.... Drives into a rage like you can't believe... I've seen so many trail cameras, tree stands etc in the woods and the idea of taking them NEVER crosses my mind... As I am sure 99.99% of you feel the same.. I honestly hope it is never stolen from you.. Very nice of your son for sure...

  10. I always leave the hitch on my truck, never had one stolen. I get a kick out of each new shade of paint I find on it. Id much rather have the idiots bump into that than the rear bumper.

  15. It was around that age when I found that old drawshave up in my Dad's shop and built my first hickory longbow, and went up in the hayloft of the barn and started shooting pigeons. Archery became a huge thing in my life at that time, and it thrills me to see kids getting into it. Yeah, the equipment is a lot different and way more sophisticated, but the challenge, discipline, and fulfillment are the same. And it is a hobby that can provide a lifetime of enjoyment. And look at that shooting form .......perfect!

  18. I really try not to rub this stuff in in a casual conversation. Most people have no idea what it's like to operate heavy machinery or even farm machinery. I give them this look: I'm suspicious of your motives. I've been there and done that.

Before tossing out more stones from your glass house ....Let me ask, these anti -hunter fodder post you inference would also include your little ditty which: 1. started this off pretty well 2. lets be reminded you say killing them ALL was in reference to the slaughter of newborn fawns So your deer damage is more important than anyone else coyote damage ? Rhetorical question just pointing out that you might want to step down from that soap box....

  28. Speaking of Fido.... Ever seen this in person? It's pretty wild. This will really screw up some moral compasses on here. Watching a pack of Fidos run that yote down and rip it to pieces. So a rapid, yet asuumeingly painful dismembering by dogs is cool, but a quick death by explosion is a no no? I guess I will never understand these moral grey areas...anyone have a map?

  29. I guess it all depends on how you react under pressure. "Haste" should not be part of the situation. But I do understand that sometimes bad things happen even with the best intentions. But watching all the videos of people running in blind terror like a flock of sheep fleeing a pack of coyotes kind of made me a bit ill, as it is blatantly displayed that we don't have the slightest idea how to protect ourselves against today's evil. Just once I would like to see one of these terrorists have someone turn around and put a bullet between their eyes. I think that conceal and carry privileges require a certain level of thought and responsibility and perhaps even mandatory training programs. But there is something disgusting about the fact that our current manner of protecting ourselves amounts to simply running like panicked animals or cowering in a corner waiting to be found and shot.

  30. I think the big problem that some have with shooting, trapping and other control methods of coyotes is that they look too much like Fido. To them it is "dog killing". They get as emotional as the most dyed-in-the-wool anti-hunter. It is Bambi-ism simply transferred to any animal that looks like their family pet. What they fail to realize is that as noted above, they sit at the top of the food chain around here and obviously, these people with the anti-hunting/trapping mentality can't seem to understand what happens when any species is allowed to multiply in an uncontrolled fashion. But it would be useful for people to understand that coyotes are not pet canines any more than Bambi was really a talking deer.

  34. I bet! Getting stuff stuck is never fun. Today while chopping hay we had a dump truck delivering gravel for a wet hole between 2 fields. He had to drive out across a hay field to dump where we needed it. He clearly didn't have much experience driving off the road. After needing us to pull him with the chopper twice because he wouldn't avoid the low spots we just left him hooked to the chopper and towed him where he needed to go. 38. Wish i had a 5 acre field to play with, the things I would do with (1) 5 acre field lol. I like mixing those clovers and chicory right in with your Winter Wheat planting, or into your PTT. Great to use as a cover crop to clovers.. Left over seed, i hope you get good germination from it, Ive heard keeping it frozen in a sealed bag is best for good germination the following year. Post some pics before during and after, those are always neat! Some sort of walls or fruit or hard mast trees would look nice out in that field too! lol

  42. With my kicker I have to use 24" bags to go that slow. I hate going that slow because I'm stuck using only 3 rods "2 riggers and a thumper" but it is more effective than anything else. Usually after we catch 10-15 "doesn't take long after you find them" we will switch to a spoon/ flasher meat program so we can run coppers and dipseys and hope for a salmon. 43. Small field that is up against powerlines. Suburbia on one side and state land on the other. Mostly clover. Have been doing turnips and radish also with some rape seed mixed in. Last year they touched the turnips and radish some after years of planting. I think I want to do more oats or rye instead this year.

  45. It was fun Grampy. We didn't even have to cast. Just drop the hook/worm 4 feet from the bank and watch them swarm. Hardest part was hooking them as they had very small mouths. Lol. Ana wasn't casting much further but did hook 2 large mouth. Joel caught one bigger one in the whopper plopper. Boat still not in. I hope the water drops soon but everyone is complaining about the June lull out of Rochester anyways.
