Saw this big guy about 3 miles from my house this morning. He actually let me turn around and come back and snap a few pics before he took off. I zoomed in and cropped these pics. He was about 125 yards away.3 points

They were in the yard this morning but the doe stayed in the brush watching them. She likes to eat the wild apples off the tree in the front yard. She stands on her hind legs and plucks them from the tree only 15 feet from my front door. I stood on my rear deck taking these pictures in full view of the fawn and they had no concern.2 points

Died today at 81. I was never a huge fan, but the guy could definitely sing and play. I don't think there was a radio station in the country during the '70's that went an hour without playing "Wichita Lineman" or "Rhinestone Cowboy". A tip of the hat to an American legend.2 points

I'm off all 16 days of VT rifle season. I will take 5-7 days off during bow season, and work half days around weather fronts. If the freezer isn't full, I will take off days during muzzleloader/ late archery. Self-employed. All the benefits and and all the headaches of being your own boss.2 points

Clover/chicory plots are doing pretty well where I mowed them. I'm kinda surprised it came in this well for a frost seeding and pretty hard competition from grasses early on. Ended up riding over to my neighbors house while moving a couple cams this morning. Long story short he ended up coming over with a big heavy transport disc to till my field up that I planned on working on this weekend. He ran over the whole thing a few times in one direction and cut it deep. Since it wasn't sprayed the grass needs a couple days to start dying off now. He said he will be back this weekend to disc it the other direction and depending on how it looks maybe come back again in a few more days to really have it looking perfect. He tells me he likes to do it this way to avoid using chemicals and this way has worked for him for 50 years. I can't wait for it to be done so I can get some seed in the ground asap!2 points

I'm not talking about leftist media here. I'm talking about things that were actually done to the military knowing full well they weren't improvements. These things were done by Democrats in spite of huge GOP and public opposition. Much like today's push for gun control comes from Dems. All the hatred of police was pushed by the Dems as well. This is the transformation of America Obama spoke of. Too bad nobody demanded details when he spoke of it during his campaign.2 points

I'm fortunate to have two separate properties in the same general area, (seven miles apart). For the most part one is usually better for daytime movement than the other. One heats up, the other slows down. After a few years you kinda figure out when, to be where. Very rarely are they both showing the same action, at the same time. And sometimes they are both slow. That's when I'll hit some close by state land. Nice to have options!2 points

Exactly! That's how I grip it at least. Mathews has a red stripe going through the center of the grip to help with consistency.2 points

Shot bow again tonight. 3rd career day shooting. Shot from 8:05pm - 820pm so pretty low light for eastern NY. Took 9 shots at 15yds. The first 3 weren't great. Think I was thinking about the arm slap and it did happen again, which means my form is off. Then my next 6 shots were better. Then I adjusted the sight and tried 3 shots at 20yds but it was 820pm and nearly dark, so although not great still not horrible. The last one I really took my time and it was the best one. So 12 shots in total, now up to 51 shots for my career. All shots would have killed a deer, but still a lot of work to be done on my form and consistency. No fun bruising arm and then it becomes mental. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Final 3 of the night from 40, tonight was more of a workout. I moved a bunch of firewood rounds then went right onto shooting. Gave me a good workout and it's a good thing I don't have to move firewood before shooting a deer.2 points

Fished out of oswego Sunday night and Monday blew pretty good Sunday settled down for Monday. Had awesome trip with few coho and steelies. 500 foot of water down 120 plus. First time out there went in another guys boat that was his first time out too. Boat handled it awesome couldn't have asked for it to be any better in the conditions. All and all for 2 rookies out on the big lake in less than ideal conditions we had a great time. Trolled Owasco Sunday am before headed up few lakers....picked up this nice bass on a flasher fly combo tho never had that happen so was cool. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk2 points

Gentle On My Mind, was always my favorite song from Glen. I remember years ago, working a gig somewhere and playing that song. I looked out to see my Mom smiling and moving to the music. A good memory. Thanks Glen. RIP.2 points

In the name of science and huntingny.com I canceled going out on Canandaigua Lake to conduct this experiment , well truth be told the old lady had her DR. Appt days mixed up . Look I get it anyone can post any sort of stage pics. So maybe one day Moog can stop by and video this. Measured height 14 feet at foot level ( see orange tape on ground ) distance 18 yards . These were my first shots since killing my buck early Nov. my shoulder was hurting a lot ( benched an hour before ) First three arrows bend at waist all a couple inches high, second three drop bow hand and it felt weird to be honest two arrows were better then bend at waist . You'll notice as well the orange fletch in the drop bow arm is off a bit I messed up the shot almost sending it who knows where . Also two, different arrows and fletching two are three inch three fletch one is four four inch as well as differant brands of arrows . ill be happy to have anyone video me repeating this, till then fire away I got my big boy pants on today !2 points

not sure if it was mentioned already but last year sucked for soft mast trees like apples and hard mast was ok. this year trees seem to be loaded. if we get another wet spring going into next year, next year could be even better.2 points

1 hr · The issue with the old foundation was caused by poor drainage which I hopefully have taken care of with this drain tile. Three 1/2" cables installed in the loft should hold things together for a long time. Gotta admit to being a little nervous installing these. We used chains and a come along to pull everything tight and those chains had a serious load on them. Next steps are renting a manlift and getting the painting done, then the landscaping. Before that happens....a week of R&R in Florida golfing with family and friends!2 points

It's nice to see people willing to commit time, money and energy into rehabbing the old structures. Too many people just tear them down and put up tin-clad eyesores for the sake of expedience. You have something to be proud of.1 point

Checked main trail cam and got yotes, turkey, deer. 1 or 2 yotes have mange it appears. I now moved this camera to the spot in front my blind where acorns are I planted seeds which definitely grew. This is where I got most buck pics last year. Hopefully in a few weeks Ill have some pics of bucks. Deer prints everywhere in here coming for new seed growth I guess. Found this feather on the way out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
