  1. First time for me trying to engrave glass with my Dremel. I have NO clue what I'm doing, but I think it turned out alright for making it up as I go. It looks better the further away you stand from it,lol Anyone else here ever try this before?

  5. We were back out this morning, brushing in ground blinds. These two have been very productive over the years. Both are in the hemlocks with natural funnels bringing deer through the area. The last pic is a box blind overlooking a field we let grow over. The field borders a very thick swamp. A great gun spot. Being out, doing stuff like this with my grandson, passing the torch to young capable hands, is almost as much fun as hunting !

  7. Anyone else as excited as me for crow season to open? Last year was the first year I had crow hunted much at all but I am hooked I will not duck/goose hunt once this year because I have way more fun crow hunting. No limits and a target rich environment leads to sore shoulders and big smiles. If any of you have never tried it and live nearby I would love to have someone join in on the fun. I'm about an hr north of Albany. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I screw up a lot, but since I'm not much of a perfectionist, and don't do this for a living, I just try to correct them as best I can and make some adjustments on my next piece. For me all this stuff just occupies my mind and I get more satisfaction out of the patience training than anything else. That's been the most valuable benefit for me lately. If I only showed off perfection, I would never have anything to share.

  13. Sweeeeeeeet is only word I can come up with. Great work as always. Do you ever scrap any attempts and not show us or simply ace every one ? Crazy as every new style or medium you use looks like you've been doing it for years.

  14. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that your first glass etching would come out beautiful!!! Man, the art you create with your endless talent is tuly remarkable. Seems like anything you put your paws on, comes out so cool. If by chance I'm lucky enough to kill a deer this year, or my grandson kills his first. I'll take a bunch of pictures, send them to you, and have you etch one for us. I'll be honored to have such a keepsake. Whatever $ you charge will be more than worth it! It would be like geting two trophies! Your artwork, and mine or my grandsons deer. I've had so many people comment on the antler cross my friend. Wear it every day. It's still putting out and receiving the good vibes, more than ever.

  15. Suffolk Archers is hosting the Hunter's Rendezvous this year on August 20th at 9 AM. This is all about deer hunting. We have speakers on shot placement, tracking, calling, blood tracking, scent control and area's open to the public for hunting deer. We often get experienced hunters to come down to these events and tell about experiences they have had while tracking or calling etc. This is a great time to share stories and help out new hunters, teaching about deer and just have a great time sharing experiences. ATBuckHunter and myself did the shot placement last year with Charley and I was able to do some calling before the group was onto another demonstration. Should be a great time and is open to the public. We have breakfast and lunch served. Come on down it's a great time with some great people who love the outdoors! We had a few members from the site come last year and it was great meeting all of you, hope some more can make it this year!!!

  16. Speaking only for myself, NYC has nothing that appeals to me more, than sitting in my own woods on Thanksgiving morning, hoping a deer comes by. And thinking of all the wonderful smells that will greet me when I get home. Sharing the warmth of a fire with family, before and after the wonderful dinner. Though I have enjoyed watching the parade on TV a time or two, when I was tagged out by then! I've been to NYC many, many times for many different things. But was always more than happy to leave the hustle and bustle, to head home to my quiet rural home. I just know, I would wither and die if I lived in ANY city.

  19. The atmosphere and people are great. I have been there countless times and have always found it to be a good time. Numerous restaurants offer a TG themed dinner. I would go through a website like hotels.com in order to find something that is close to the subway which can bring you right to the parade route. If I can help you as it gets closer, please PM me and I will provide you with any information I can. There is so much to see and do in the city that time of year.

  20. Friends of mine have visited NYC and would never return. They thought it would be fun, but was not worth the hassel. Based on their experience, I would not get within 100 miles of NYC.

  21. Our grandson turns 2 today..How time flys...Thank God, I'm not getting any younger and want to have some hunts with him! Growing like a weed in 5Ts already! He now picks up my 5# weights in each hand and walks around with them like they were nothing.

  23. This post made me think of some crow hunts so I looked at my "crow file" and I found this photo of a crow hunt sometime ago. I think that I was using an Olt regular crow call as well as the Olt perfect crow call..I still use the same decoys

  31. I was a crow killing sumbitch when I was a young feller......Me and a buddy or two killed 50 plus in a day a number of times... Anymore I generally limit my killing to things that I eat or things that are directly being a PITA to me, like woodchucks burrowing under my buildings or porcupines eating my treestands. However, being a wingshooter at heart, I would LOVE to get in on another good crow shoot or two before I kick the bucket....Hehehehehe...

  34. The people who have an all-consuming and passionate hatred for President Trump, and there are many, wake up every morning saying to themselves that he absolutely must have done something untoward or illegal to be elected. They've convinced themselves that it's their job to find out what that is. It's just inconceivable to them that the coastal elites, Ivy League professors and their former students, professional politicians, pedestal pundits and pollsters, etc. are wrong about the will of the American people. It's irrational and obsessive but it consumes nearly 100% of MSM coverage today. Quite honestly, it's painful to watch their fall.

  35. And just what crimes would those be? I follow this stuff very, very closely and I have yet to hear of any formal accusation regarding Trump. Mueller's team is not looking for prosecutorial evidence, they're on a fishing expedition. Nothing more, nothing less.

  37. We went salmon fishing out of Port Ontario Pulaski yesterday and had a great day on the water. Boated 11 fish all together, with about 6 strikes that we missed out on. Pictured are 8 of the largest fish, but all fish were processed and are in the freezer. Looking forward to smoking one of those giant filets soon!

  38. I like short barrels because they are easier to move through the woods and most of my shots are closer range. But I always thought I was sacrificing accuracy. Maybe not: https://www.google.com/amp/www.wideopenspaces.com/the-truth-about-barrel-length-muzzle-velocity-and-accuracy/amp/

  44. I enjoy hunting them and carry crow calls with me when I go to certain areas just to call them and tick them off... I don't hunt as much any more, but do manage a couple of days to hunt crows and squirrels.( I also still enjoy calling red foxes) I bought my first crow call in 1965 and I think that I have about 25 mouth calls now. I have my favorites, but frankly, from what I've seen they don't care as much as I do. I carry 3 to 5 calls whenever I go. I also use predator calls for them when they don't respond to the crow calls.. I don't waterfowl anymore, but when I did I preferred crows also. I've gone in Sept., but the ticks can be annoying, so I wait until later. I do call them ALOT when I fish in my kayak . Have you been on the Crow Busters website ? Some years ago I got a tape from Bob Ahronson, who is an amazing crow hunter, and a member of crow busters. My numbers increased after his tape taught me their language. Until that time I just made greeting and fighting calls.... Do you use mouth calls ?? Have you tried predator distress calling ? Good luck, I hope that you post photos and a story when you go.
