  3. I'd just gotten comfy in a stand I had not sit yet this year. Button...then young doe... then her 8 point date shows up from the opposite direction. All behind me. Tons of brush. Few openings. Split second green light for a quartering away shot. Nailed it. This one is for a friends freezer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. After a short stay in the hospital, to have a tumor in my bladder removed. Been following the forum a little here and there, while coming out of the fog of surgery and meds. But I'm back, and doing much better today!! Want to thank those that sent well wishes and prayers, as no doubt they all helped. I ask that the good thoughts and prayers continue, not for myself, but for a couple of others from this forum, who are fighting a much bigger battle than I. Not sure if I'll be able to get back out to hunt this year, but I'd like to, if at all possible. I have a couple spots on our property, that I can almost drive to with my truck or wheeler, for a short sit. Hopefully my grandson will come with me and we start to make memories with the Sako! Take care all. Hold your loved ones a little closer today.

  6. I killed a good doe this morning. 115lb dressed. Try and keep this quiet but I did use a .243 and Barnes 80gr TTSX, it worked out well as it was only about 100 yards......

  9. My hunting partner just pulled some cam cards and he's making it hard for me to keep sitting in this darn easy chair! This is a blind we set up for early bow. Saw this buck a couple of times and passed on him once, as we have bigger on the property. But he is using this run daily, during daylight, and I can drive my truck to within 100 yards of this spot. He sure would make me feel better if I or my grandson could lay our hands on him! Gonna be a tough sell to the Mrs. though! Already told her, whats the difference if I sit in the chair here, or there? My buddy said just put him on the ground, and he will do the rest. Oh boy, here we go........

  14. Thanks again everyone! Got a buck making daily walks by a blind that we put in for early bow. I passed on him early in bow season. But he would really make my season now! Just a short walk from my truck to this blind. Oh boy, what to do?

  18. Last week this newbie neighbor kid comes in and sits by the creek. Shoots a small doe. Good for him. I see nothing all morning. This morning neighbors north of me come in after 7 in their orange jump suits. I watch them from a distance and hope they’ll bump something my way. I’m in well before sunrise and in a great stand in some thick stuff with good active runs. 2 separate shots not 20 min later. This sport can be frustrating. Who wants to join my pity party? 20. I wouldn't count on it..... I have hunted every single day since the 20th in three different regions 1 to 2 sets a day plus covered a few miles and have yet to see a deer. A total of 39 hrs. I did see two sneak out of the woods tonight as I was headed out after dark(5:00 pm) but have seen no sign or movement in places where they normally travel. This is the longest I have ever gone without at least seeing one. I am taking a couple of days off for a attitude adjustment, and honey do list. I hope that when I get back out things have changed. If I sit out there long enough maybe one will walk by. Good Luck.

  32. It's not a stock, it's actually a new SCR lower made by a company called Ares. It's compatible with pretty much all AR uppers and designed to comply with laws in restrictive states like NY. I like it a lot, especially since it lets me change calibers/uppers at will, but I wish it was priced a little more reasonably. My lower ran just north of $600.

  33. My best to date. Taken in the pouring rain on the second day of the 2011 gun season. He was trailing four doe, one of ran straight to me after I dropped the buck at 75 yards. Dropped the doe right at the base of my stand. Definitely a memorable day.

  35. middleguy 10 point 18" spread last day of season 2015 Dellaware County by Green County. Total fluke just walking through the open woods at 10:00. Circled around him and he walked right up to me. The locals say he's the biggest one in 20 years in my area. Not bad for a cityit. Moral of the story late season bucks do happen and don't give up until the end. I have a 9 in my area but I am taking off this weekend to let the woods cool down and next week taking off Thursday and Friday off. If it's meant to be it will be.

  40. +1 on what TCIII said. The private land I hunt used to be about 45minutes to an hour, depending on which place I stopped at to get mt drive up coffee. Even after only hunting until noon or a bit later, it was rough driving home. Now, that land is close to an hour and a half drive, and the only two times we got up there last season the fiancée only made it a few hours in the cold. So even heading home around 10:00AM both of us had a hard time staying awake. I would hunt the closer area, pressure should be letting of a bit now in most areas.
