  11. I think there is an absolutely legal way to do this Dom without a dealer. Not sure if your father or mother is alive but a rifle or shotgun can pass between parents and children/step-children without any check or paperwork. from you to your father or mother and then to your sister/brother and then to your nephew. all with no checks or paperwork. 100% legal.

  20. As much as it sucks do it the legal way. You both go to a licensed dealer he gets a background check and then legally owns the gun. I think the most a dealer can charge for this service is $15. Make an evening out of it and stop of coffee or hot chocolate afterwords to celebrate .

  21. Looks like the blade is on backwards. If it isn't on properly the collar will not screw on all the way which may be causing it to fall off. Also the two ears on the plate need to set in the corresponding notches in the housing so they will not move when the retaining cover is screwed on over it

  22. I'm looking forward to some ice fishing this year. I am a little particular about the ice though. I wanna see 6" of good ice before I venture out. For some reason fish seem to taste better when taken through the ice.

  23. You're entitled to that opinion. But I for one am not a big fan of making knee-jerk laws on the coat tails of tragedy. As stated before, do you think any of these "accidents" would've played out any different if the law was different? Nope. They wouldn't. If it makes you feel better to think it would've then so be it. You're putting blame on the wrong thing, it's on the person that pulled the trigger, not their watch. 24. Guess I'm just an old fart. I do not pick and choose what laws to obey. As much as I detest these stupid NY regs, I will comply with them until they change. It would be just my luck to be the one hunter checked and have illegal equipment confiscated. No thanks.

  28. Needed to get better at off hand for a hunt in October and shot a pile of 22 at 2" steel targets at ranges of 25 to 75 yds during the summer. 5 to 20 shots a day and 5 as fast as possible reloading and hitting a 50 yard target. (1.5-5 power scope at 1.5 both eyes open) I'll be curious to your results as we are opposite of physical build. I tend to really pull a gun tight to shoulder to roll with the shot as I'm shooting typical heavier kickers (30 magnums and in this case 375HH and 458 win mag). Wrap my sling into my support arm and choke up on my grip as I like a muzzle heavy feel, keep my weight forward on front foot to allow for recoil. Equipment wise my triggers are light and crisp which I think makes off hand easier; use the tip of finger on trigger. Shot the most ever offhand on hunt, and made a nice 150yd snap shot at a smaller animal with confidence.

  38. Ive heard of guys doing it, but I dont know first hand of any. Doe tags, sure. In fact, my daughter signed hers over to me once she was done bow hunting, in case I needed them, which I didnt. I also dont know any women that buy a license and dont hunt, or let their husbands use their buck/either sex tags. Other than news stories, I dont listen to much on facebook as far as those stories go. People are worse on there with made up stuff than a bunch of little old ladies in a sewing circle.

  41. Shorter seasons IMO create a sense of urgency in hunters. Participation rates in shorter seasons are higher per day average, hence the minimal drop off of harvest numbers compared to lengthy seasons. Cut the season by two thirds or so and you still get 90% of the harvest totals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  42. Was with a buddy on 81 one time in the winter and there was an accident ahead and we stuck there for 3 hours with 6 other people in a passenger van . Everyone was making calls home etc to let people know where they were. Well my buddy and I were going on a winter trip on the weekend with some other guys to my camp to play cards and drink and BS. Well his important call was to his brother to tell him what to bring. He leaves a message..... " You need to bring enough bacon for 7 people for 3 days" and he hangs up. The van is silent..... They all thought he was ordering bacon for us for 3 days cause we were stranded. And we're wondering who was the person that wasn't getting bacon. But his brother brought 10 lbs of bacon and I cooked it all and yes we ate it. Cause it's bacon.
