  1. My 42 year old son had a Stroke last Monday night . He was unresponsive and luckily someone was at his apartment when he collapsed . His boyfriend , who is an RN was able to get to his apartment in about 10 minutes and an ambulance arrived quickly . At the local hospital , 2 doctors debated whether to give him a shot as they didn't have permission . My son's boyfriend said to give him the shot and he would sign anything necessary and take full responsibility . My son became responsive within 20 minutes and was moved from the hospital in Jersey City to St Barnabus in Livingston NJ . My wife and I were in NJ from Tuesday afternoon and got home Friday evening . Our son had a Angiogram and a MRI . They found a restriction in his left Carotid Artery with a slight tear . We drove back to Livingston , NJ Sunday after church and stayed until this am . He had another Angiogram and MRI yesterday . He was released from the hospital last night and we took him to his home in Jersey City . So far no therapy is required but he has several medical follow ups to do . If worse comes to worse , after a follow up in 3 months , they may have to install a stent in the artery . Our church , family and friends were praying for our son . They worked !

  2. Pulled cards last weekend and got a few shots of this guy on two different cams over two days. He's with a doe in each shot, but following the doe in the other pics. I'm assuming it's a January rut? Found a new rub and two freshened scrapes on my way to this cam. His rack is in decent shape for this late. He's obviously a lover and not a fighter.

  5. Since I began this thread, My son in law have been out there three more times... Last Sunday we finally put one in the bag... a big fat grey. I missed one and so did he, but its the first one we have ever bagged. We did a lot of exploring and found an area where the nuts on the ground are super thick, nicknamed it "nut city". We have yet to see a squirrel in that area. We did find another area with much less mast on the ground... and squirrels. Going out there again this Sunday. Hopefully we will do better than one. Having a great time exploring this place. Last Saturday I had nine doe walk right past me. I think I will do late season muzzle loading at this place.

  6. I guess this is part of the slippery slope that Doc has raised numerous times. I really have no objection to full inclusion of the crossbow so that more people can hunt the season. But this is beyond that to me for some reason I can't properly articulate. I agree that it really has no practical differences from a crossbow in its use but it bothers me having this weapon in archery season. Perhaps its the history of crossbows being like bows in that its a limbed weapon. Don't know but I think adding crossbows is enough and we should stop there without adding no-limb propulsion weapons.

  8. Pretty simple really. If it doesn't have a string and limbs, it's NOT a bow. Therefore, it should not be included in any BOW season.

  9. Why go with one of those stocks, when you just go with a fixed mag system? They are darn near just as fast to reload, feel better to shoot than the weird stocks, and still look good. Ive shot a couple different "compliant" stocks as well as the thumb tab thingy, and none of them felt right.

  24. I find that I think about deer hunting year round. Especially when the woods is open and the foliage is off the trees and you can see deep in the woods and across the fields. Maybe in the summer I might not think as much but I'm still in the thinkin' about deer huntin' mode now.

  25. Threw out the last of my Copenhagen, all spitters are gone from the car and the various stash spots in the house. Been chewing since I’m 16 or so with intermittent stops. Not sure what drove me to stop this time but feeling pretty committed although today was not easy. I figure if I just don’t buy a tin I’m good. Crazy how much I thought about buying a tin today-addiction (regardless of to what) is a strange and powerful thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. First off you should be grateful you have property like that to hunt, I pretty much gave up turkey hunting because of land access. Why don't you join a youth mentor group and help some kids kill a bird if you're overrun with them? Better yet why don't you invite a few of us members to hunt in the spring? I wish I had your problem and you're complaining about it!? Why is it you WANT to kill 5 gobblers? The turkey breasts?? The beards? The kill count factor? If you and your neighbors started shooting 10 birds each every year you wouldn't have your current problem very long I don't think... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  29. Nope. Not a bow. It has a straight, fixed barrel. The manufacturer is slapping "bow" on the name for profitable branding, and it's a misnomer. A bow bends, like the curve on a ship's bow, or a courteous bow out of respect. Nothing "bow" about this rifle. Archery requires a bow and an arrow, not a rifle and an arrow. That's not subjective, that's definitive. I'm going to create a tank with a barrel that shoots an arrow and call it tankbow...

  30. Shoots an arrow it's an archery implement. I want it in archery season just as much as I want XBows in archery season. In my opinion anything fired by a trigger that is permanently attached to the weapon doesn't belong in archery season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. I also have no objection to crossbow inclusion, but I know exactly why the "airbow" goes over the line for me. It isnt a bow, plain and simple. Bows have limbs and strings, guns of any type, do not. The "airbow" is an airgun. Now I have no issues with opening up airguns, but I do not feel that they belong in archery season, no matter what type of projectile they fire.

  34. I was impressed with the last survivors on the show Alone. It really does show how hard it is to live off the land. Last year the runner up was forced to leave due to body weight loss. I am reasonably confident that I would become pretty darn miserable without a readily available food source. Heck, I get grumpy when dinner is ready too late.

  36. Yeah the season ends mid December. We get to go out on the Island the month of January with shotgun. You realize how great it is when your in those woods. Most headgear is gone but it doesn't matter. We went out twice season ends today.

  37. Nope bows exist and guns exist. Air guns are just as deadly as a regular gun and offer multiple shots.

  38. I have never seen them claim to be living off the grid, or to be isolated and in deep wilderness. They make no effort to hide the fact that they have a lot of nearby neighbors that help them out whenever they need it. They make no secrets that they have individually lived in other places and done other things, and even had other spouses and kids off the homestead, so I'm not sure what is Fake nonsense. Certainly they didn't find those excavators, bulldozers, tractors and tools and other construction equipment or that huge ship out in the wild. There is no doubt that there is a pile of money in the family. Atz has a net worth of somewhere around 7 million, and I'm sure that Jewel ha a big pile of money. So these people are not to be confused with those on The Last Alaskans, or the people on Life Below Zero, nor have they ever claimed to be in that kind of wilderness, self-sufficient, lifestyle. The lifestyle they live is what they have chosen, and I think it is quite genuinely portrayed.

  40. Short answer on Nasty Pelosi: Botox injections in the face eventually leach into the brain. It doesn't help when you start out being a Socialist Democrat. Trump's speech: He hit it outta the park, again!!!

  41. I neither indicated nor suggested that my speech was "non-peaceful". In one case I was trying to rally people to join in a local 'Walk For Life' event to benefit cancer patients and survivors. I was told by the police that I needed permission (a permit) from the local government to do that. You made a very bold assumption about me. You were wrong.

  42. If you are using it for hunting only, get the lightest setup you can. 1. There is no recoil on a 223/556. 2. The amount of shots you will be taking are less than 5 at a time. 3. When you bring it in the woods, the extra 2 pounds makes a difference for carrying it around. 4. With the amount of good barrels around, they are a dime dozen if you are going to make if a DIY project. 5. The major investment should be in the glass going on top of it. Just my opinions. 43. Build one the way you want it, I would build it light weight, bull barrels are too heavy to haul around in the woods, I know
