  1. After 28 years as a firefighter and Lt for the City of Rochester , I’m calling it quits ! What a struggle , I still love suiting up for the game , but its taken a tole on my body and my wife is older and retired , she smoked for 40 years ( quit two years ago ) its time to travel and do things while we can I guess. I love being the old crusty guy teaching the young snot face kids ,still Iove being the first guy through the door, but I just don’t move like I used to , it’s time to leave while I’m still “ whole “ , if carpel tunnel , two bad shoulders, arthritis, bad hip ,and nerve damage means “whole “, but I still got my looks ! 2. If you’d toast the best man I’ve ever known with your next beer I’d appreciate it. Lost my mom January 18th and my Pop just now. 71 years of marriage. He died from a broken heart and now is with the love of his life again. I’m so proud he went peacefully and without pain. I love you Pop. Easter won’t be the same nor anything No comments or replies necessary just hold up your next drink to Leo. I’m blessed Samantha got to really know them both. I never met any of my grandparents. He taught me how to put others before myself , that family always comes first , to do something right if you’re going to do it , too have fun ( cmon look at the slippers he wears for Christmas, he’s touched so many peoples lives and will be deeply missed by all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. I may take my 5wt. fly rod with a minnow streamer, through the snow drifts, to a 34 degree water temperature, fast running, chocolate milk colored, hot spot. Make two or three casts, before tangling my line, on a back cast, in the nearest bush or tree. Before muttering under my breath, #@€*×¥+..., break off the line, and head home. 11. As they were traveling, they rounded a bend and saw a deer laying in the road. A small button buck, hit by a car but still alive. They stopped the tractor, and as they were pondering what to do next, a shot rang out from the nearby brush. Everyone was startled, but then noticed the button buck had stopped moving. With no obvious wounds, they were puzzled by the circumstances. "Who's there?" shouted WNYBuckhunter. Hearing a rustling in the brush, a shadowy figure emerged. It was Wolc123. It was obvious now, that the young button buck was dispatched with the patented Texas Heart Shot, a shot requiring great skill, and reserved for only the most unique circumstances. As Wolc123 approached the group, he set down his rifle and said...

  12. Just finished my third week of the archery league. First week I shot 249, second 268, tonight was a 270. I had my first 25 round, followed by my second and third. My last round was 24, so for the third game I shot a 99. Its been a lot of fun. Most of the guys are shooting recurve, which looks really cool. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  18. For many years a group of friends and I always had an opening day trout contest...Entry fee was ten bucks..We would fish from dawn until noon and then meet at someone's house settle up bets ( longest trout took all) and then play poker all afternoon.. Most of the guys who use to participate are now dead or unable to fish anymore..It just ain't the same.. I'll wait until after opening day when water conditions are favorable on some of the obscure, unstocked tributaries that I enjoy fishing.. The fish are either wild or holdovers that swim up from the main river.. I'll drift crawlers and catch some beautiful wild trout and seldom see another fisherman..I seldom kill any stream trout anymore unless they are badly hooked, which does occasionally happen when fishing bait... Later in the month when the major fly hatches start coming off, I'll fly fish the main river, but the crowds will be gone by then...

  19. I've been trout fishing all winter! But no, I won't be going out on Sunday, I'll wait until May/June when the hoards of "suddenly trout fisherman" disperse and the water warms a bit. I hate fishing on weekends as it is, too many people, fish get spooked and lock up. Good luck to you though! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  21. Four Seasons Whitetails ranch to roast the "fatted-calf". Chefhunter arrived with his butt-out tool, using it as a bore gauge to verify the "perfect" shot placement and to remove the large intestines as clean as a whistle. The undamaged tenderloins were given to FSW/RWH. He ate them raw, and immediately converted from a trophy hunter to a full-fledged meat hunter, repeating as he wandered off that "its brown-down from now on". Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

  23. I don't expect to quit hunting for some time . As soon as deer season is over , I am anxious for the next season . I remember when I had a partial knee surgery that the surgeon said no more ladders . I said " how in hell do you think I am going to get in my stands without a ladder" ? He just shook his head . I have given a lot of my hunting surplus to my sons that hunt . I was thinking of selling some of my other surplus on CraigsList to local folks . I just have to get rid of the obsession of buying hunting gear just because it's on sale or clearance . My father in law got me started deer hunting in 1965 . We hunted together for about 5 years and he quit . I hunted a couple more years and stopped . My sister in law bought property in Geneseo and asked if I wanted to hunt with her so I got back into it . My son in law hunted with me for a couple years and he quit deer hunting . I got use to hunting alone My oldest son started deer hunting after he graduated from college and had some time and then we got my youngest son into it . I retired in 1998 and have put in a lot of hours every season . Since I have all that time , I hunt alone a lot . I still find myself capable of dragging a deer . It just takes more time !

  25. Governor Cuomo is truly incompetent. Think about the following: * A violent sociopath murders children and teachers at a school in Sandy Hook, CT. In 30 days Cuomo gets the SAFE Act that has not made a difference in reducing or eliminating gun violence in the middle of the night. He is a nation hero to the gun control advocacy even though the SAFE Act did not make schools safer or anyone else. * A violent sociopath murders children and teachers at a school in Florida. In 30 days Cuomo plays dead at a PRO-gun control protest. He is a nation hero to the gun control advocacy even though Cuomo playing dead did not make schools safer or anyone . In times of crisis real leaders rise to the occasion, NOT by playing dead like Cuomo. The GUN FREE ZONE at schools never worked. When will see real school security at all schools? When will the politicians mandate that every school have an armed guard, all staff have a medical alert type panic button to communicate with law enforcement, entrances will be harden and staff who are legally qualified and trained can volunteer to be armed? All I see is more useless gun control proposals with more useless GUN FREE ZONE signs that never scare off killers. Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results. That statement defines the thought process of the gun control advocacy.

  27. I am excited about this. Bought an 07 prairie 360 4x4 this afternoon. Stupid clean, barely used, it was my dad's neighbor. We know it was barely used, since we can see his house from my dads. They are like brothers, so everyone wins. He plowed his driveway about 3x. I plan to use it at home, and at our camp upstate. My current 220 Bayou, ois obviously too small, but did its job. This machine I plan to bring to northern Maine in August to explore the trails. I have been going to Maine for about 12 yrs npw, and never had a machine decent enough for trails that get remote. There is honestly not much point in this thread, other than to share my excitement. This is not me on the quad by the way. I will bring it home one night this week.

  32. everyone has different stuff they like to bring but many bring the same. resurfaced targets can make an arrow pull hard, same if you're shooting a setup that really drives them into the foam. someone should have an arrow puller in your group. also some like to bring arrow lube to make it easier to remove them. for arrows many i know bring around half dozen. depends on how far and how good of a shot you are but other shooters sometimes hit your arrows. if you miss or hit something that pulled out within the foam your field point might get deformed. i bring a few extra nocks and points for those reasons but never use them. most bring some kind of hip quiver to keep stuff in. mine is a nicer one and hypothetically could hold an open beer in the big center pocket. otherwise a decent pair of binoculars is nice to see where the scoring rings are. for 3D, bullseyes are on the target face not like real life where you're shooting with path of penetration in mind. i also have a small towel attached to my quiver for drying off light precipitation, my sweat, etc.

  36. As Biz pondered this new development, he felt a little queasy at the thought of his pending fate at the hands of Mr. B. He decided to make a break for it. Running through the leaf blown trails, he spotted River's stand. He climbed up and hunkered down. He knew he was at least temporarily safe, as no one would think to look for Biz in a tree-stand. After all, he was certainly no cheater! As he hid in the stand, he heard a noise approaching. Kind of like an ATV, but he also heard voices. As the noise crept closer and closer, he spotted a new side by side, and finally recognized the voice as a radio broadcast of an Alex Jones show. Hoping this was his lucky break, he jumped out of the stand, and ran up to greet the driver of the side by side. "Papist" Biz gratefully shouted and he jumped in the passenger side. The driver turned his head to face him and...

  37. When I was 18 yo I very quickly learned just about everything involved with framing houses. I worked on hundreds of them. It was my job and I'm a fast learner. But I quickly realized that I knew nothing about being an actual house builder. That took many, many more years of seeing how all of the different trades and disciplines interacted and how they needed to be coordinated. Kids don't understand that complexity. They think that all one needs to build a house is a saw and a hammer, without understanding the complexity behind it. Fine for a fort in the woods, I guess, but not so great as a basis for governance. It's not just the kids either. I'd be willing to bet not many of their parents have any knowledge of The Constitution. I'm not an "angry old man". I've just been around long enough to know how to look at bigger pictures when confronted with big problems. Now, get the he!! off my lawn. ;-]

  39. I have a Marlin in 30-30 and a Winchester model 94 in 44 Mag. Love them both but for all around I would go with a 35 if the weight does not bother you. For me the model 94 in 44 Mag is like a BB gun and is the perfect fit for tracking, stalking and up close hunting and long hikes, no sling needed.

  40. I think the reason people attack these kids personally, has to do with the fact they have ordained themselves 2nd Amendment experts, which adult anti-gun fanatics support, when it is very obvious they don't know the first thing about it, individual rights, or any of the Constitution for that matter. I can understand their initial desire to speak out, but after you've been factually schooled on how little you understand, and they have been, if you persist, you earn personal attacks. Nobody wants the galactically stupid influencing an individual right they choose to responsibly exercise.

  41. Agent Biz and Agent Grow pulled up in the Grand Marquis. Everyone wondered if Agent Grow was there to issue Wolc a ticket for shooting the button buck out of season, but she opened the trunk and pulled out a stack of cardboard. She grabbed Biz by the arm and dragged him toward the woods with the cardboard, a stapler and duct tape in the other hand and told him sternly "Come on little man, were building us a new love nest.....I mean ground blind for deer season this year!"...

Went 1 for 3 this morning and landed this spawned out hen, how I landed her is beyond me, I knew I was fishing a risky spot due to being in between 2 logs but I don't worry about landing them until I hook up. She took it and went around on the inside of the log and went screaming downstream, long story short, 10 minutes later and wading out into 4' of rapids I was able to work her back. Always tell him i will be glad to come help even though I am 2 hours away. But he is stubborn and brings them out. I would be too i am sure. But being stubborn still gets him out there. 45. After a health issue last year, I asked myself this same question. The answer I found, in the eyes of my grandson and my lifelong hunting partner. As long as they hunt, so will I. I'm still acquiring hunting "stuff" at 61. Most all of it will be passed down or given away, to complete the circle for me. Though I've lost a step, and slowed down a bit in the woods, I don't consider that a bad thing. As now I savor each hunt and experience, much more than I did in my prime. As long as I can roll out of bed, to put on my boots, I'll be heading out. Even if it's just to sit there and smile.

  46. “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” When one understands proper English, it becomes obvious the the words "shall not be infringed", refer to possession of arms. The founders were not concerned with anyone who possessed arms, they were only concerned about criminal activity. They wrote laws to punish criminals, people who abused their freedom to hurt others or trample on the rights of others. They understood prosecution of criminal activity was needed to protect freedom. The entire Constitution was written to prevent the Federal government from having the ability to evolve into an entity employing organized crime. It was granted little power over much of anything by the founders, so it could never be a tool for tyrants. The founders warned future generations that freedom needed to be understood, earned and guarded on a daily basis, as there would always be insidious encroachment by men of zeal, who possess no understanding of the consequences. The America people have been allowing their freedoms to slip away for decades now, lulled into a sense of false security by the siren of big government. Recently, the taking of rights has become intentional though. Many in government seek to retain power in spite of the Constitution's prohibition of their conduct. Time is always on the side of traitors. They never lose sight of their goals. Free people, on the other hand, are often in denial, when it comes to their rights and freedoms being attacked. Unless Americans start learning the purpose of the Constitution and what their rights are, they will soon be saying they live in a free country, where you are free to do whatever the government let's you do.
