  1. I woke up Sunday (yesterday) to find that this old neighborhood doe had jumped the fence in my back yard and given birth. She was with her "son", a buck born last year but soon chased him off. These two went from wobbly legged walking yesterday to running today. They lay in the ivy and wisteria and you wouldn't know they were there. Mom comes and goes to nurse them but doesn't stick around so that predators are not attracted. I will have to leave a gate open eventually so these guys can get out of my yard but for now they are pretty safe.

  2. Good day on Oneida. Caught 9 walleyes culled to the 3 best. Biggest was 20 ". Filleted and frozen! Made the right call today to fish instead of chase turkeys.

  3. THE best fishing trip I've ever had. Wasn't about the size or quantity of fish, or the weather, or that the boat ran good (cause that was all against us). It was the fact that I was able to get my son on his first king salmon. We ended up 6/8. All on video. My son did awesome. Had to use two hands to crank after awhile but he absolutely loved it. I'm one proud dad. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

  4. Beer and an omelette after fishing. Also a little sample of walleye. Cheeks! When I used to catch and fish a lot more I would keep putting them away til I had a good size container frozen. They are like a scallop. Would sauté them in butter, garlic and pepper and put over angel hair for a seafood pasta. Excellent.

  5. Ok. I suffer through a couple wine tours and tastings and my wife signing up for a beer club and my reward is good beer. This porter is called Death and Taxes. Very tasty. Moonlight Brewing in Santa Rosa CA. Beer saves me again...

  15. Thanks guys, I greatly appreciate it! My sister bought me lunch at Reid's in Lockport today, I had a taste for a nice cheeseburger, a hot dog and large fry with vinegar and ketchup and a large pop. They took care of business for me and I left very satisfied and full!

  18. If my dad knew how much it was he wouldn't have gone; but I had to give my mom paperwork with airlines etc. I was at there place doing a gut/remodel job on their master bath, and dropped it on them to start packing last day when finishing up. Maybe 4 months out or so. My dad tried for weeks to cancel, but cruise line wouldn't let him because of my card being used and my mother hiding the paperwork. LOL I'll say this; cruise lines was awesome. Special dinner at captains table,Cake, Champagne, Flowers for mom when boarding, Photographer/prints all complimentary because I told them why I was booking and packaged all the excursions, air, hotels with them. congrats on 56 years.

  22. I've actually been to 1 place they have had on the show. Its was a couple years ago, and I can remember the name of the place. I know it was in Stockbridge MA. Or maybe that was Man, fire, food.??? I'm a BBQ, smoker connoisseur. I really enjoy the smoking of foods. Particularly whole hog. Enjoy the feedback I get from clients. This is the last one I did last fall. Few booked for the last part of this summer. One client wants a 175# er.,.. thats going to be a tight fit. Lol

  29. I couldn't find the old mushroom hunting thread so I'm kicking off a new one. I went out this morning and got drenched, but perseverance paid off. I walked out of the woods with 54 nice Morels and probably 10lbs of Dryad's Saddle. They are now all nicely put up in the freezer(besides the sampler platter the wife and I enjoyed with dinner). 30. I’ve had the sponge candy ice cream and it’s better than sex. Although being married the sex thing doesn’t happen in forever so I still have ice cream to look forward to a few times a year Next up is Paula’s glazed donut ice cream.

  33. What I am doing when I dunk it three times is blindly listening to a wise woman who could make bluefish edible! I have no idea why though- do not change the water- just dunk, remove, dunk remove, dunk remove; dunk and leave....makes no sense to me either but comes right every time! 34. Just go with the AR Mag-loc and keep the pistol grip and any other features youd want. Caliber wise, if you go 308, 7mm-08, 260 Rem, you are building an AR10. Not that that is a bad thing, but components will run you a little more. If you want to stick with an AR15, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, 458 SOCOM, 50 Beowulf or 450 Bushmaster would all fit the bill.

  36. Sorry for the late posts-chasing mushrooms, turkeys and baseballs this weekend with little service. I follow a process (more than a recipe) from an old Italian Grandma: Boil a large pot of water. Dunk and remove octopus 3 times then leave it boil for 25 minutes-remove from heat but leave in water for an hour. Cut to pieces to grill(quarter it or so) coat with extra virgin olive oil. Grill on high (HIGH) heat for 3-4 minute per side. Cut to sizes you want to serve- Throw hot octopus right into a mixture of EVOO, juice of lemon, finely chopped cloves of garlic, a sprinkle of crushed red pepper if you chose (which you should!), salt & fresh ground(that’s a must) pepper. Serve hot (or cold but better hot) over and arugula salad tossed with the same oil/lemon mixture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  37. Informative thread, thanks. Mrs. & I are doing the Alaska cruise this summer (first week in August) for our 25th anniversary. I've never seen this part of the country before, closest I've gotten until now was Seattle. Looking forward to it, even if it's a little "touristy" for my taste. I DO have a day of fishing planned in Ketchikan, but I found my own guide, the trips being offered by the cruise line look weak.

  38. This is the real reason the NRA has abandoned NY... NY gun owners alone could have voted Cuomo out of office, but instead apathy prevailed. Based on some of the negative NRA comments here and gun owner voting records in NY it is easy to see that the NRA is not the problem... ignorant, apathetic, cry baby, do nothing gun owners are.
