Last night was my retirement party, at which my former crew gave me this rifle ! It was way more then necessary, but I’m honored , and almost don’t want to use it . Not the best pics I know .9 points

Shoot be decent for bow and great for gun. Will be fun bringing Natalie along more often or roughing it in lousy weather. Tough job solo but got her done and it will be worth it. Only sits about 20 yds from edge of late season food plot but also is tucked in woods where we have big oaks loaded with acorns this year.7 points

Marinated some chicken in Italian dressing, then grilled. Pasta salad and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Think it's time to go sit outside with a beer and a cigar. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk4 points

Been thinking of sending my BLR 30-06 out for some trigger repairs as it is a heavy trigger. So before spending $150 on doing that went out and shot it today. Saving the $150. It is gonna be fine.2 points

Funny thing is, this is my grandpa's favorite meal too, and he was raised on the family farm in Sinking Spring, PA about 30 miles from Lancaster. This sausage was bought fresh in Shady Maple supermarket out there, and he smoked it heavily for i think 12 or 14 hours. It's in his blood his hobby for smoking meats, and making homemade sausage, snack sticks, bacon, curing, etc. Thanks for perfected comment towards my dad by the way!2 points

I have a feeling its the tester picking up stray voltage "phantom" since the lights stay out with the switch off. Phantom power is sometimes picked up by certain testers when there is an energized wire in the same harness or box. This voltage has no power behind it and is usually low volts maybe 40- 100 volts, it will disappear as soon as a load is put on it. You might be seeing that phantom power if the switch is off and both black wires have voltage on them one 120v and one lower volts . Usually those lighted testers pick up phantom, a voltmeter most cases do not. Either way always shut off the circuit breaker when cutting wires !2 points

Ny hunter, that’s a good point,, from reading online, many say don’t shoot it ever, that they’ll go up in value . But what good is that? My kids can sell it for a bit more ? I think I’ll use it but carefully , Airedale, that’s most likely what I’d do , in a case to and from the range , shoot and handle with care .2 points

If I couldn't eat the meat I wouldn't be shooting the deer just to put them in compost just a waste. Id rather take a ticket then waste it. I think this will be our last year doing this as the land owner is putting a 8ft fence all the way around the vineyard. As is the case a couple deer might get in but he'll just shot them then call us to go get them. Instead of having to over watch the vineyard. I might say they do have a beautiful overview of lake Champlain,2 points

Check out this shed my buddies friend found while walking through the woods in a state park in long island. My buddy works for an environmental agency down there, and they do some deer culling because the population is so out of control, ive seen so many pics of HUGE bucks, ive started to think the big buck states have NOTHING on long island bucks. Look at the mass of this shed. . .this deer must be an absolute monster, (also notice the kicker off of the g3)1 point

True. I will get it out once more now that it’s sighted and see how it shoots next try. I think it will hold that 1.5 moa range which I guess is fine especially at ranges I shoot.1 point

You didn't mention the ammo used or barrel spec, but I'd say a 1.5" group at 110 yds fits that profile. Nice rig, should drop some deer!1 point

Henry makes some very nice commemorative rifles and your Fireman's model is no exception. They are a little fancy to beat up in the woods but great to bring to the range for some target and plinking fun, take her out of the case and she will draw a crowd. Congrats on your new rifle and your retirement. Al1 point

I don’t think that when you make an app purchase it’s tied to the phone. Usually it’s linked to the email associated with your phone. So if you purchase a new phone, you set it up with your email and then all of your contacts and apps will automatically download and be on your new phone. At least that how it works with my iPhone. I would assume that other phones work in the same manner.1 point

Not true at all. There are more hunters than ever here on LI. The problem is that there are many areas that are off limits to hunters, like many state parks. Then when hunters do get access to a state park like Wildwood, it is only certain parts of the park and the deer learn very quickly the areas to avoid. In addition to a very restrictive gun season here, there are many areas that act as sanctuaries letting deer reach maturity. There is also the issue of no hunting in Nassau County where the population is steadily growing and contains some of the biggest deer on LI, with bucks in the age range of 6+. Yes there are some big deer here, but most are unhuntable, and unless you can secure permission on your very own little sanctuary you will be disappointed.1 point

That seems like such a waste. They should change the program to have the meat donated to a local soup kitchen somehow if they don’t want the hunter to keep the meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I have 2 Stihl; one a commercial strait shaft that will take a saw blade and a little bent shaft homeowner type. I use the little one all the time. Just needed a primer bulb for it, first repair ever on it. Dealer said it was 17 years old and found a generic one on line for $3.1 point
