Finally got to see the little pecker heads today!

Pulled a few cards last weekend. Haven't been through them all and still have a few more to swap, but got this bear about 30 yds from one of my pop-up blinds. It's a poor exposure, but looks to be a good sized one, presumably male? It was the second to last day of turkey season. I was at work that day, and I admittedly would have experienced the pucker factor if I was sitting in the blind at the time. The time is correct, so I would have probably just gotten settled in if I was out. Hope to see him in the Fall when I have a bit more than turkey loads in the gun!

Come on over for a beer and sit on my deck. That's our chicken coop and those are second year cubs. Had to shoo them away. Pic is a few years old now, but we see them semi-regularly (except for bear season of course). And people ask why I built the run out of chain link fence - works well!

Went out with my brother today to scout for an upcoming charter, took a buddy out, browns weren't playing but found some Kings and Lakers that did. Lakers were 11 and 13lb. The 13lb Laker took the line out of my brothers hands as he was peeling it off to hook in the downrigger clip, 180ft and that fish was probably 10' under the surface right behind the boat! I'd drag you along to Africa on a hunt but between the Turkey and Bear trips, I'm a bit scared after a 16 hr flight you'd jinx that hunt too!

Didn't remember to take pic of but 7 perch and one walleye today. Fishing was tough then got blown off the lake. Out with GF and Charlie. Went to lunch after in Sylvan beach for a clamwich for me and a portabella mushroom Swiss burger for her. Didn't kill the fish for sure but a good day off.

Interesting and funny story: My Dad is a retired Dentist who had an office in Newark for many years. He had someone in his chair one day when there was all of a sudden a loud hammering noise coming through the A/C system. It kind of jolted everyone in the office, but Dad stayed calm and didn't screw anything up. My Mom, the receptionist and a farm girl, went out to see what was going on and found a Pileated woodpecker hammering away at the stainless steel exhaust stack on the roof. That nutty bird came back for a couple of days before I put an owl decoy up there. Maybe he was training for the woodpecker triathlon or something? We still laugh about it.

Shoot be decent for bow and great for gun. Will be fun bringing Natalie along more often or roughing it in lousy weather. Tough job solo but got her done and it will be worth it. Only sits about 20 yds from edge of late season food plot but also is tucked in woods where we have big oaks loaded with acorns this year.

Only if you don't like $! Lol. I don't get paid a lot but I do get a lot of time off! I make enough to feed myself and the dog and cover the boat payment. The important stuff.

And people claim whitetail are tough to hunt. They seem easy by comparison to everything else I have hunted. lol

And I drove 7 hours to see nothing. lol

It comes with a precut heavy foam floor. Pretty darn quiet. So no carpet needed. And grampy thanks for the compliment but pygmy would disagree. I almost killed him and his blind when I tripped getting up. lol Definitely one of my better elephant moments.

Check out this shed my buddies friend found while walking through the woods in a state park in long island. My buddy works for an environmental agency down there, and they do some deer culling because the population is so out of control, ive seen so many pics of HUGE bucks, ive started to think the big buck states have NOTHING on long island bucks. Look at the mass of this shed. . .this deer must be an absolute monster, (also notice the kicker off of the g3)

Rob, wishing you and Miss B, a lifetime of happiness. Sorry to hear of the bad luck. But it never lasts. No doubt your marriage, will far out last the down times, we all face now and then. Any chance you can keep the van a few days longer? Mystic is a cool place. That's where we went after getting hitched. Many years ago, my old buddy (now deceased) said to me after a LONG streak of bad luck on my end "Larry, it goes like this for a while then gets worse". I chuckled of course and rolled with it. He was a good friend and was also right. I survived it and you and your new bride will too. Congrats early on the marriage!

Got out today at a pier on the south shore. Caught a bunch of big sea robins, but I wasn’t hungry enough to keep them. I did catch one 17” fluke. I don’t normally get to catch fluke so this was a nice treat. I’m hoping to get one keeper this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
