  1. I thought I lost him last night, but like a good surgeon with a sharp scalpel, I brought him back to life! This guy's right around 4ft tall. I'm trying to make this one a little more life like than my first attempt. My anxiety skyrockets with every rev of the saw,lol

  2. Wife and I stopped at bar harbor a few years ago on a New England cruise and we loved it. We decided we wanted to come back to really spend some time here . And by the way if you ever come up this way definitely stop at Kittery trading post. 3 floors of awesomeness . first few photos are at Kittery .

  3. Long story short. I have a buddy that lives in Michigan, he has access to a lot of hunting land and they do really well managing it for deer. He has killed some great bucks but never a true "giant." A couple of years ago now he got some pics of a phenomenal 2yr old (what he thought was 2) that deer would show up and disappear, show back up etc. This went on for 3 more seasons, my buddy and his neighbor who have a large chunk between them had both gotten pictures but neither had ever laid eyes on the deer. They kept their mouths shut so word wouldn't spread. Last spring my buddy found one side of his rack while shed hunting but could never find the other. That summer he showed back up larger than ever and hung around into deer season then vanished mid season which wasn't overly uncommon for this deer but oddly enough was never seen again. Noone reported killing a giant so he feared the worst. Recently he got word that the neighbors who don't hunt or allow hunting found a huge buck dead in one of their fields while brushhogging. It was him. The deer he lost sleep over for years, the deer he let other 130"+ deer walk for. I guess it's sort of poetic, a deer of giant proportions, all wild, no fences, seemingly dies of "old age." That's probably the way that deer would've wanted to go. Noone will ever have the satisfaction of walking up to him after pulling a trigger. The buck rough scored 214." Here's a few pics. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  6. What a great day we had! Put over 40 bass in the boat. Weather was perfect. And my grandson and his best buddy had me laughing, from when I picked them up, to when I dropped them off. Best day I've had in a very long time. These guys keep me young! We already made plans for the next trip. If ya haven't done it in awhile, take a kid fishing! My grandson. His best friend. One happy grampy.

  7. Deer do not become "smarter". They just become more "conditioned" by the hunters who pursue them.

  8. Muskoxen.....You pursue them with dogsled, or more likely, snow machine until they form a defensive circle, then approach them and shoot one...Chances are the temps will be well below zero...The only challenge is GETTING there, and it's too damn cold for me... Now if I had a cute little Inuit girl to guide me and snuggle in the igloo, it might make a difference, but in my experience, good looking Inuit women are MUCH more rare than B&C Muskoxen...

  9. Well I guess we wouldn't have much to talk about..... If I won the lottery I'd spend every penny on elephant hunting the best areas as often as possible starting with Nyae-Nyae in Namibia and moving to Tsholotslo in Zimbabwe. And spent last few days cleaning up multiple baboon skulls. Have zero interest in high fence deer.

  12. In that case I am guessing that it is no more than 50/50 chance that he died of natural causes... Nobody will ever know... I would guess that as big as that buck was, probably SOMEBODY other than your friends knew he was there...There are a lot of people out there suffering from ANTLER SICKNESS that would do unscrupulous deeds to get a buck like that...

  13. Dangerous game, especially elephant, is about getting in close. Like as close as a bow hunter would take a shot for a deer here, 10-25 yds. You are invading their space, trying to do it on the stealth, and hoping everything comes together. The consequences for screwing up is what makes it what it is. Its about the tracking, evaluating, making a plan, getting in for a closer look and getting out without them knowing you are there; the team work and nervous relief for all when it comes together. To be in a herd of pissed off females is amazing, chaotic, scary, thrilling, all rolled into one; and its all happening crazy fast. I been fortunate to experience that and it was a game changer for me. It all slows down, like slow motion for me, I can remember the smell, sounds of branches breaking and chest rattling trumpets. To see a whitetail still gives me a thrill.....but it will never be the same. Its not everyone's gig.

  15. I'm afraid that I am of the age where I have to look at the level of physical energy that has to be expended. For example, there are critters in New Zealand that live on mountains that tire me out just looking at them. A lot of where Jim Shocky hunts would be impossible for me. Also, I no longer have any desire to hunt things that hunt back. I think I can happily live out the rest of my years without ever seeing a G-bear in the flesh. There was a time when I would like to have replicated Fred Bear's or Tred Barta's griz hunt with a bow. It doesn't enthuse me at all anymore. Further, I don't want to hunt anywhere that requires you to carry a snake-bite kit. I like to feel comfortable looking around at all of nature that surrounds my hunt and not having my eyes riveted on the next place I am placing my foot. Small game and deer found behind my house is just fine with me from this point on.

  16. Sad, isnt it? Many people are raising a bunch of pansies that are going to have a hard time handling life when theres no more mommy and daddy around to make all of their precious hurt feelings feel better. I honestly think its why kids shoot up schools and things like that these days.

  20. Some may doubt the above statement but this is previously not shown (other than to a few members here via a PM basis) video from a couple years ago. Although I had tons of velvet footage, I never had a single hard horned video. Rumor has it he was killed to the north west of this location, some were in Ontario County by an as of now unknown hunter. That said, he could have easily been poached by a neighbor and that wouldn't surprise me in the least...... Hopefully this works:

  21. Some superb trophies taken by our recent hunters, we worked really hard but just could not connect with the right bushbuck ram thus preventing us from completing the spiral slam on this trip , one more reason for a return trip . And then some more great trophies taken on the side

  23. OK I will raise my hand as the newest member of the I can't read properly club!! What I WOULD NOT hunt.... Elephant, apes, giraffe, cats..... pretty much anything I would not eat. Besides yotes and chipmunks I am pretty adamant about that. And pretty much anything I would consider shooting not hunting. For each it is a lot of personal input on your answers and how and where you were raised. I have nothing against any legal, ethical hunting on sustainable animals. Just my choices.

  25. One thing I will hand the Yankees is they really know how to develop their players. Other than Torres, none of their core was every that highly regarded coming out of the minors. I don't think any of them ever broke top 20 prospects list at their time of reaching the majors.

  27. When there's no more mommy or daddy around to protect their feelings, they will petition the government to become their surrogate parent, or more accurately their Big Brother, to beat up all the people they see as bullies. That will be anyone that disagrees with their beliefs. Group think and collectivist thought will dictate what is acceptable and what is not. Brave New World folks.

  28. Everything today seems to be focused on "shock value". Whoever can come up with the most disgusting ways to attract attention to themselves seem to be the happiest. That is true of body modifications and also the ways people portray themselves in personalities, and actions and attitudes. For me the piercing thing is disgusting and gives me the willies anytime I see it. I can't even imagine what kind of mentality ever got that nonsense going. But then, I am an old fart that doesn't get a lot of the crazy crap that goes on these days ....... lol.

  34. Glad it is of interest to you. This arm, and hand it 6 yrs old. The white glove pictured is the inner glove, a seperate glove goes over top of that white glove. I fell on this hand during the winter from ice, heard a snap, and sheared some guides, gears, and other interior parts within the hand. You are a good judge, this hand seems very primitive, and old school compared to other high tech hands on the market. However, where this hand excells, and in my opinion outdoes all the others is exactly what you mentioned. I can make this hand open, and close so slowly, that you can see it barely move, to the point you can hear the gears meshing inside. The hand will move smoothly at speeds where it hardly moves....other hands, including the most popular bebionic, and iLimb hands cannot move this slow, the computers inside cannot recognize the low muscle signals, resulting in the hand moving in spurts. Pretty amazing. I started an Instagram about 2 weeks ago where I post mini videos, and such showing my life, and how I use my prosthetics.

  39. Ok I had the Zweigle's and its a good dog but sorry my western buddies not the best. The Wardynski jalapeño cheddar dogs were definitely real good but I feel it is unfair to rate a specialty dog against a straight up dog. The Hoffman coneys are certainly good if you like coneys, and I do. For me my Glaziers still hold my top spot for a straight up real casing dog. I will find some Sahlen's though and give them a shot. Don't get me wrong I would have any of these dogs and a beer with ya all! We all have our own tastes and I would hate for you all to buy up my Glaziers and cause a shortage or price increase!!
