  1. Bought it last night, pick it up tomorrow. 2018 Tundra Limited. Finally traded in my '07 Tundra. That truck gave me excellent service over 12 years and 135,000 miles with no breakdowns, no repairs except 3 brake jobs, a couple of batteries, and a few sets of tires. Couldn't consider another brand of truck with that track record. Having the new one Zeibarted today as the only thing wrong with the '07 was that rust was starting to spread. This thing has so many bells and whistles I'm going to have to take a night class or something to learn how to use everything. Now I have to get used to the new payments after having the old one paid off for years.

  7. So my buddy just calls and asks if we can come up and help with a goat problem this weekend. I say yes, then and ask what problem is. Trimming a big goats nails. Complete first for me, but when they ask me for something and I/We can do it, we are always going to help. I camp on their land, I hunt on their land, so if they need something I am always there.

  8. Just took a ride over to the field where my logger is staging my timber and saw 2 guys not involved, at a certain pile loading it...they are another logger that bought a load of firewood from my logger...well if you are following me, I drove up in my truck, the guy walks over with a smile and says hey how you doing and I respond with WTF are you doing stealing my timber! [emoji16] The look on his face from a big hello smile to my accusation was priceless! Just priceless! I haven't had a laugh this good in months. He melted when I told him I was the property owner busting his jewelry.[emoji6] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

  12. no i'm saying they could and still would. newer bows tuned and fitted definitely make doing so easier though. if you pay any attention to competitive archery you're starting to see format changes and perfect scores for rounds. didn't happen as often. still in the context of hunting they both still work. some qualities in newer bows are just better hunting though too. newer bows can have nicer backwalls and valleys that help consistency when in a weird position in a stand or blind. at the end of the day the "best" bow out there isn't going to help you if you're not doing your part.

  15. https://www.apnews.com/1da2efd20aac443096472e8a015c6c88 Some of the quotes of Governor Andrew Cuomo are: · “New York will not be intimidated by the NRA’s frivolous lawsuit to advance its dangerous gun-peddling agenda,” You will have your day in court Andy. · “If I could have put the NRA out of business, I would have done it 20 years ago.” Are you against the First and Second Amendment Cuomo, you know the ones in the Constitution that YOU took an oath to defend against all enemies foreign and domestic as a public servant? · “The NRA is an extremist organization. I urge companies in New York state to revisit any ties they have to the NRA and consider their reputations, and responsibility to the public.” Cuomo can you define what constitutes an “extremist organization” and what other organizations are on your “extremist organization” list?

  17. I used to live near the Woolrich factory, so I have LOTS of their clothing. They used to have amazing sales on surplus and "seconds". I will still wear a "Pennsylvania Tuxedo" on some days during gun season. They are heavy if walking but nice on stand.

  22. Quick update - still had ice at 50 hours when I went to sleep last night. I drank 1/2 of the water and this morning (Wednesday), the ice was gone but water still ice cold. Not bad considering I filled it Sunday at 7:30pm.

  26. Without a doubt your bow and the high enders will get the job done. A Volkswagen beetle and a Ferrari will both get you to the grocery store as well. I've never had the ability to shoot the distances I do consistently until I stepped up and got the Hoyt Carbon Element when they first came out. I had the money and shot it and it just fit. I was shooting a buddy's and with his release I was in the vitals at 40 yards consistently. And it wasn't even set up for me. The balance was amazing before during and after the shot. Open handed and it still sat on my bow hand

  27. Damn didn't even think of it tonight Rob.....I (we) were just excited to get there and it was barely sprinkling. Listen to the weather monkeys on TV and you'd think they'd be loading the Ark up for the BIG deluge. We got wet but certainly had enough time to fling a pile of arrows and even, incredibly hard to believe, lose a couple. AGAIN!! Not me this time though........ Next time hopefully we'll remember to snap some early pics.

  30. Sobering stats noted in this year's NY Hunting & Trapping Guide. Last year 6 of 12 tree stand incidents were fatal due to no harness (5) or harness not attached to the tree (1). There were (3) non-fatal injuries without a harness and (3) non-fatal injuries with unattached harness. I'd hate to see anyone here have a fall. Please use a lifeline and/or a lineman's belt when hunting from a tree stand this season. All of these accidents are preventable.

  31. Was looking for a large insulated water jug to bring out when I work at the properties or fishing in the summer. Settled on this 64oz bottle made by The Coldest Water. Haven’t had it out yet but did test it by filling with ice and then water. Left it out at my house. 24hrs later I opened it and still plenty of ice. 36 hours still some ice. And at 40hrs still some ice. Going to check at 48hrs. Probably wouldn’t do as well in 95 degree heat but this seems like a high quality insulated jug. No leaking or sweating. Should work really well for keeping water ice cold during Day trips in the heat. Just an FYI if anyone is in the market.

  34. WD40 is a poor lubrication. Before you sacrifice me to the dogs, and call me bad names , hear me out. WD40 is NOT intended to be a lubricant as all it actually does is displace moisture. It does however have a slight lubricity to it. However, PB blaster lubricant is a better choice IMO or anything silicone based. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

  36. I would make sure you buy a scope where parallax is 50 and beyond. Not 100 to infinity like most rifle scopes. There are several scopes made for .22 rimfire with such a parallax. I have a Vortex on mine. But leupold would be great.

  38. Depends, I have dragged miles and carried hundreds of yards. I would rather drag but I think I have carried more out. My kill kit is simple 8’x8’ piece of tyveck house wrap ironed and vacuum sealed into a bag that fits in my pocket, 2 garbage bags also vacuumed sealed and a packable pack that’s made of parachute material that fits in a cargo pocket. I should have bought 10 of these packs when I bought mine because I have never found another and would love a spare. It’s not comfortable to carry but is plenty big enough to put 4 quarters and back straps in. I can’t stand carrying a big pack while still hunting/tracking and this is what I have found works best for me. I like to be as light as possible with nothing more than a small fanny pack. 39. When I find a proven winner I tend to stick with it and wool hunting clothes have always performed well for me. They do have to be cleaned properly and they are heavier than some of the modern stuff but their overall performance has not caused me to switch when the weather is cold even though at almost 70 years old, wool still does not weigh me down. I have the heavy weight red plaid Woolrich outfit and a lighter Bean camo outfit, wool sweaters and a vest along with various brands of good wool socks for my feet topped off by a Stormy Kromer and Bean wool hat. As for boots I have a couple of pair of Bean hunting boots that I like but I do not wear them exclusively. Al

  40. One should actually shoot as many different bows as they can, and choose based on what feels and shoots better. Not just what brand name is stamped on it. Elites are great bows, but not for everyone. I shot a couple of them when I was shopping, the Hoyt was a better fit for me.

  41. I recently went to a local archery shop to "look" at a sight I was looking to buy. They didn't have what I was looking for but he showed me a comparable one at the price of $200.00. After looking at the sight he says "and I also have the perfect bow to put it on". He showed me the Mathews Triax and let me shoot it. I must say it is a very nice shooting bow, super smooth and zero vibration at the price of $899.00. I explained that I was current shooting a Mathews Solocam and was pretty pleased with it. He proceeded to educate me on the advantages of the Triax blah, blah, blah. So when I asked if he would consider a trade in on my Solocam he balked and stated as a rule they don't take trade ins. So basically he wanted me to drop $1100 on a bow and sight and would also have to purchase everything else such as arrows, quiver, rest, etc. Easily $1500. I would rather be like Cochise and go carve a new one, have the squaw chew me a string for it, than drop that kind of change. Absolutely crazy.

  42. Buddy and I had a money spot last year that was blocked by a down tree during the season. It is a small area that was routinely accessed by one trail-ideal situation until a massive tree fell on the path (or so we thought!) With no time for removal or desire to overscent the area my buddy decided to hunt it as it is. Sure enough he watched a beauty of an 8 pointer slowly shimmy, poke through, limbo under and get around the down tree to end up right where he would have been without the tree bing down. Now he hangs on the wall. He couldn’t believe the areas this deer navigated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  43. It's not so much about the hunting or camping. That's a bonus for me. But, friends help each other, so even if I didn't hunt or camp up there, I would still go help out. I have no idea what I'm in for with a big buck male goat, and trying to clip it's nails, I'm sure it will be interesting.

  47. Ok, I haven't shared this with anyone yet, but everyone here on the forum has been a great source of hunting info for me and I feel compelled to give back. Here's the thing: All of those ADK hikes that I've been doing weren't just to become an ADK 46'R. In fact, I have been quietly developing a first of its kind electronic squatch caller...AND IT WORKS! That was no moose that I heard while camping, it was a real SQUATCH coming in to my calls!!! While I may be somewhat conflicted over harvesting an ADK Bigfoot, there is no question my one of a kind eFoot caller works! You guys are the first ones that I am offering these to, but act fast! As soon as the first hunter calls in and drops a Squatch, there is no way that I'll be able to keep up with demand!! I'm going to make a special offer just to the forum members here: $99.95 (+8% NY sales tax) for the soon to be famous eFoot caller! PM me right now with your credit card info or Paypal while supplies last!!!
