  1. Got it done during yesterday’s PM hunt in 9H with my buddy. Both deer dropped in their tracks at 120 yards! Shout out to Wolcott Guns for help with my new Vortex 4x scope! Good luck today! Dino sorry about sideways Picts.

  5. I just wanted to share a little something that I aquired from my dad tonight. I don’t post much about smoking meats, and processing etc. partly due to the fact that my father, and I use venison for making homemade smoked snack sticks, home made smoked sausage, etc and how we both are not successful huntersas far as harvesting goes. Anyways, my grandpa grew up in PA near Lancaster, and was raised on the farm making home smoked, and cured meats, pickled foods, scrapple, and so on. These meat hooks were my dad’s great grandparents, and they used them to hang meat in their smokers. My dad has used a few of them over the years as well, and he gave me a couple that he used, in addition to a few he has not used. These may not look like much, but these are unbelievably meaningful, and I cannot be happier to display them in my home. I just wanted to share, dad says they have to be over a hundred years old.

  6. I remember an article where the guy suggested you count the piles of deer poop on your property and spray paint them. Then do the same thing three days later so you know which ones are new. He had some calculation for how many times a deer poops a day or something so you could do the math and get a count. It was maybe the dumbest thing I ever read in my life. And now you’re all dumber for having heard about it and for that I apologize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  10. Found him trapped in a big pine log so I grabbed the chainsaw and set him free! I'll clean him up today and give him a quick grooming before he gets his hair and nails done.

  11. Sitting with my 10 yr old. The plan was to be in my shadow hunter blind with a heater available and good windows but he decided to be afraid to climb the ladder today. So we are in a half ass ground blind that has no heat or windows. I hope he can hold out for a while.

  12. Well, I couldn’t get it done this season. Here’s my recipie: 1 Cup of Tinks 69 3 Cups of Kids 1/2 Cup of Pregnant Wife 1/2 Cup of Work 2 Tbsp of OT Work 2 Tbsp of Family Activities in the off Season 1 Tbsp of Soccer 1 Tsp of The Unexpected Combine ingredients in large pot with unused big game tags. Simmer on low heat for 6 weeks, stirring occasionally. Garnish with a touch of disappointment and serve lukewarm.

  13. My friends and family know if I’m later than the time I said I’d arrive there’s something seriously wrong. A trait my dad taught me. Don’t think I’ve ever been late to work in 30 years.

  16. Wishing a very, very warm 'Thank you!' to TF for this awesome beer mail assortment. After a long week, this was a real pleasure to unwrap. It's like the 12 Days of Beer Christmas all in one! All brews are new to me so this should be fun. The Westbrook Mexican Cake is one I've been trying to find locally with no success.

  17. The rule is if your happy with buck you can shoot it. Dont compliance if someone shoots something bigger. I have one guy that use to shoot 1st legal buck he saw, after 5 or 6 years of that he decided to wait for a 2 year old. He took one.. he now waits for 3 year old and older.. it's a natural evolution. I also have an elderly hunter who always waited for nice buck. He now Shoots 1st legal buck he has chance at in gun..as it maybe last one he ever takes..though he still is picky in bow season.. they are happy makes me happy seeing people happy. It's a fun layed back. Camp and the comroderie is a lot of fun. I should of also added 1 bear and 2 coyotes this year as well 1st time ever with 2 coyotes..

  18. I'm heading out now. Not really sure why. I guess it's just part of who I am. Season is coming to a close. And I have to wait a whole year to hunt these beautiful animals again.

  20. Well saw 5 doe. Most of them at 200plus yards and one at 70 or so with no lane to shoot. Fun time with the kiddo.

  21. Sat till noon. Saw one big doe on the way out, couldn't hold steady on her as I was shivering, and she kept moving. Home warming up now. Not feeling my best. Will give it another try tomorrow. Did find some fresh rubs and a scrape. Deer might move today before dark. But I got too cold to wait em out. Thinking about dusting off the old TC Thunderhawk Shadow, for next weekend!

  25. Wow some of you have low populations! Here in Suffolk we have many, very high population areas. I did all public this year, some properties simply have much more deer than others. I estimate 35-70 per square mile in some high area's I hunt. It is rare that I do not see deer every outing, this year my opening day was the only day I saw none and it was a lower population area. Often the properties I hunt have at least 30 plus deer in the area of 400 acers, we do a good dent to the population in these areas but outside where private properties are located holds even more deer. I would second that vote for G-Man. Making your habitat suitable and preferred for deer is key to having a good deer population, all my hunting friends who do this have really good success. Like this one.

  30. So, I get up this morning, head to one of my spots ( knowing it's mainly still under water, meaning a lot of ice, but one always has to try ), after not breaking my neck on the ice in some areas walking in before dawn, I take a seat until it gets light. Then I ease my way back out and head for home. I stop to get a coffee to warm up, and while getting the coffee I decide I'm not bailing on the day, and decide to hit another public spot to do some still hunting. Usual slow walk up the mountain, a few steps, look for a while, repeat. I get to the top, and start my slow circle around an open area doing the same, a few steps, look for a while, move. I get about half way around the open area, I look around for some time, and in this area, I always spend more time looking then walking, at least it seems like that to me. I decide to try and get a video clip of the area, I reach in my pocket for my phone and a Doe jumps and bolts from my left into the thick and nasty. I had no shot even if I dropped the phone. Also, I do not shoot at running deer! Period! I looked that area over very closely, I never saw her laying in the med brush, she didn't even twitch. So just remember folks, when still hunting, if you think it's OK to move, take a few more minutes and look closer!

  31. I was using the Hawaiian girth chart. Must be more like NY whitetail than PA. By the way, they also sell meat there by the cubic foot due the water retention issues noted by Wolc.

  45. Thanks guys! I got a big one coming up from that beech I cut down the other day. Took me two hours to roll this thing through the snow 30yds to my carving pit. Suckers gotta be 300lbs or more at least! I got an idea of what I'd like to do with this one, but it's gonna take one more roll to get the fat end on top, and unfortunately I'm a one man show.
