My son and I were invited by a friend for a Cayuga Lake duck hunt Saturday morning. My son had never been duck hunting before nor ever shot a duck even though we have hunted fields for geese many times. We decided to let the rookie get the shots and he nailed 2 goldeneye drakes and 1 goldeneye hen. They were the only birds that came in so he was 3 for 3. Out again this morning with one other shooter and my lab. Had a beautiful shot at a pair coming in to the spread. Problem was it was about 5 mins before legal. I let them land and swim around. They were swimming away and at Max range when I pulled up on them at legal. Hit the first after he flew, confirmed by my hunting buddy. He said he saw my pattern hit the water around him. Didn't drop.. wtf? Lots and lots of large flocks. Just flying and fairly high. Not interested in landing. I don't recall ever seeing this number of large flocks. I've only seen flocks this size maybe twice before but nowhere near the number. I'm somewhat awestruck honestly. I was unable to tell what they were as they were not close. Lots of mergansers flying again. Also blacks. Lots of blacks. Most landing 90+ yards. We had another shot finally and one folded and splashed down. It was far but down. My lab began to swim and the damn thing started swimming. Some how it got off the water. It was out of range for a shot plus was not going to shoot over my lab. I called her back with my head hanging low. Not much other action. Chased snows after and my hunting buddy managed to get two.

This mornings came out so much better! I want to swim in this lol yesterday was the first time cooking eggs on top of potatoes, and they cooked through solid. This mornings, I cooked perfectly, the entire yolk was warm, and the whites were solid. I want to make this up at camp for my dad. He makes a great breakfast, but always says breakfast tastes better when someone else makes it. I disagree.

I am not the expert, but tell you what I know. If shipping, the gun gets dropped off at a ffl, they ship it to a second ffl near buyer, that ffl gives gun to buyer. you take care of payment for gun directly, not through ffl. ffl's charge what they want, anywhere from like $35 to $65 each end. Best deal, if they still do it, is to use Gander World as the ffl, shipping from and to a a Gander World store, if that is convenient for both buyer and seller. I did it with Gander Mountain years ago. It was cheaper that way. I would assume Cabela's would also work.

But you will put it back on, your metabolic rate will adjust to the lower calories and eventually you'll be right back where you started. August 25th I started doing a 16-8 thing, with occasional intermittent fasting. Cut out added sugars and sugary drinks, started eating a lot less carbs, especially refined wheat, barley eating bread or similar. I did this more for a blood sugar thing, than a weight lose thing, I found out I was pre-diabetic. I've lost 45 pounds so far. Friends and coworkers keep saying "you're starving yourself!" I have to laugh, because the truth is I'm eating a lot more than I was. It's not really how much you're eating, but what. Calories are not created equal, people put too much stock in them as numbers and the numbers are deceiving. And when you eat can be as important as what you eat.

So many years ago I got it in my head to own and shoot a 458 Winchester Mag, I acquired a Ruger 77, bought a bunch of bullets and cases and had a ball with that rifle, the most fun was letting my friends touch it off. Well back in those days I did a lot of wheeling and dealing and the 458 went down the road for some other shooting implement that caught my fancy. Forward to today and I still have hundreds of 458 bullets on my shelf languishing. I have a model 95 Marlin 45-70 but having a tube magazine the round and pointed nosed bullets would not be safe to fire in a tube because of stout recoil. I decided to get a single shot 45-70 to play around with to fire those bullets and had settled on the new Henry but the darn things are almost impossible to find. After 2 years I got sick of fooling around and went ahead and bought a stainless barrel for my Thompson Center Encore Pro hunter and be done with it. So the barrel came in and I cleaned it up, mounted a TC scope base and used low Burris Zee rings and put a compact Leupold 2 1/2 X inside those. The Leupold for me is perfect for this rifle, the power matches the cartridge, it can handle recoil and the eye relief is very long so I will not be getting nailed by the scope. I have one of these little Leupolds mounted on a Marlin 94 44mag and it is great in the woods. Now I just got a get my hands on some new brass which should be coming in next week sometime. Got some old early Barnes copper jacket pointed jobs in 400 and 350 grain, some 400 Speer flat nose and 500 and 350 grain Hornady round nose. The old shoulder is going to be sore I think, I am hoping that TC flex stock will make things tolerable. Al

OK, my turn. From another web site I was able to have access to an estate sale of a PILE of Geno Denning knives prior to them being listed to eBay and some other sites. I picked out of this one and my wife, stumped at what to get me for Christmas offered to buy it for me. The deal was struck and it came USPS Priority mail from Alaska and sat in the shipping box until xmas morning.
