  3. For those on the fence or those just interested, I am going to give my thoughts on Sitka Gear - at least the items I have used thus far. It is expensive stuff - that's for sure! Is it worth it? All I can say regarding it's cost is that some brands may be less expensive and work just as well - I can't say for sure since I have not tried every piece of hunting-wear on the planet. What I can say...is that it works for me. I have the Sitka Gear lightweight core hoody and bottoms, The heavyweight core hoody and bottoms, the stratus vest, the fanatic hoody, the incinerator jacket and incinerator bibs. The few times I have used the gear I wore my Cabela's next to skin silk-like base layer (top and bottom) with the sitka heavyweight core hoody and bottoms followed by the incinerator jacket and bibs. I have been out in 16 degree temps with wind and was completely cozy. I have also worn this during snow/ice and 25 mile an hour winds while coyote hunting. I typically have to leave the jacket open as the suit is that warm used with those thin base layers. I wouldn't have believed it myself unless I experienced it, as I am usually cold no matter what I wear or layer up. The times out have been approx. 4 hours at a time with minimal activity (usually sitting). The quality of the build of the items seem to be top notch and well thought out. I have found that the incinerator bibs and jacket (size medium) seem to run towards the larger end of small and smaller end of the medium scale (athletic fit) At 5'7" 150#, 27" inseam. The jacket sleeves are a little longer than I like but what you gonna do. The bib legs length seem to be good with any boot I wear. I have not used or have had the need to use the fanatic hoody yet but plan on using it during spring turkey hunting or maybe Monday when we are supposed to have -18 degree temps...lol. I purchased the vest as it has the wind-blocking technology but have not needed it yet with the excursions I have gone on thus far. Since I am always cold no matter what when hunting, this stuff seems to work for me and probably will hunt more now than I have in the past because of it. Maybe it's in my mind to justify the price...lol...or maybe it really works. I truly expected it not to work as advertised but am happy that seems to NOT be the case. As far as durability, time will tell. My other gear was 30+ years old but twice as heavy - if not more. This Sitka gear is light weight, thin, and gives you alot more movement since you are not bundled up with bulky layers. All I can say is I am happy I bought it. If you look around you can save money off the retail prices. I purchased my incinerator jacket on Ebay for $450 not the $599 list price. I did pay full boat for the bibs $499 as I couldn't find my size anywhere in the country on sale and only 3 places had them at all with just 1 left. I purchased the lightweight core and heavyweight core at about 2/3's of the retail price on ebay. The vest $189 retail I bought at Eurooptic.com for $134.35 delivered, and the fanatic hoody I purchased off Ebay for $109 normally $189. If you look around you can find bargains vs the retail price-especially after the season. Even with bargains, the stuff is still pretty expensive. The other thing I wanted to mention and like is that the hoody's have internal face masks built into the hoods which come in handy. If anyone has any ?'s feel free to ask and if I can answer them I will. hope this helps someone!

  4. If someone offered you $2500 on a trade in, take it and run. Let them sit on it until they find the one buyer out there willing to pay $3500 for a 15 year old sled that was $5000 new lol.

  5. So your a mechanic ? Or your just spouting your opinion with no facts? I worked for a school bus contractor (limos fall under DOT inspections )for several years as the lead mechanic and worked hand in hand with Ny DOT inspectors. The DOT inspection process is 10 times more stringent than a standard ny state car inspection. This accident rests soly on the operator, the limo had Failed DOT inspection and never should have been on the road . driver did not have the proper license / endorsements to be driving said vehicle. As usual the typical liberal response is to do something even if it’s right or wrong (never waste a tragedy). So explain to me why you think that a honest transportation company that keeps his pass rate up on his DOT inspection ( yes there is a rate look it up ) has to cut his losses and most likely sell his limo because of one dishonest operator. Makes no sense, it’s not the vehicle it’s the operator..... boy that sounds familiar..

  8. So let’s make more laws when that limo and driver where already not suppose to be operating. Driver had no license and the limo was not registered so they where already breaking multiple laws. I guess breaking even more laws will change their minds before doing illegal stuff. Sounds familiar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. 140yds off sticks. 4 shot group low and then 2 clicks up and just on top of x. Should be on from 0-225ish without adjusting poa for yotes. Shooting better more it breaks in. Pretty happy with it so far. Didn’t want to set up lead sled and table in this weather. But will when weather breaks. Good for sat. Fingers crossed.

  13. Day 3 (1/16) Drove from Fayetteville, NC to Daytona Beach today. Had a good lunch at Shoney's. I tell ya, South Carolina has the friendliest and most polite people you will ever meet. But driving through it on I-95 is monotonous and boring. The drive through Georgia was uneventful. Then we drove into sunny Florida where everybody is going 10+ miles over the speed limit of 70, and no one's turn signals are working. Mrs. Goose let me drive for most of that action. Made it to Daytona Beach and drove by the race track. After checking into the hotel, we had dinner at a restaurant called Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen Homestyle comfort food. But the attention grabber on the menu was their signature drink called "The Painkiller". Limit 2 per person. Mrs. Goose had to have one. She let me have a taste.

  14. My wife and I are bolting at lunch time from Long Island to go up to the cabin in the Catskills. By us outside of Windham they are saying 20"ish. We are 2700' up so if it snows we are getting it. The quads and snowmobiles are ready to go and I cooked my ass off last weekend waiting for this. I already told my boss I'll be sick on Tuesday. I can feel it coming. I have food, booze football play offs. I'm covered. Then next weekend hunting on the island. I can feel the flu coming next Friday too. Bring on the snow

  21. It is about time all you Trump haters start facing the facts. There has been a "wall" in some shape or form since 1990. In 2006 congress approved spending to improve and expand it for protection. The "migrants" have continued to find ways around it or under it and continue to smuggle drugs and illegals into the US which we the taxpayers continue to pay for. Trump is trying to replace and improve the wall to prevent the continued flow of drugs and illegals into our country. Read the following and look at the amount of money we spend supporting other countries and say there is not money to spend to boost our security. This is purely political and the dems. will do anything to make the current administration look bad to improve their chances of taking back the white house. How much does the United States spend on it? Given the many agencies, funding methods, and categories of aid associated with U.S. foreign assistance efforts, estimates can differ. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS), which uses the broadest definition of aid [PDF], including military and security assistance, total spending was roughly $49 billion in 2016, the last full fiscal year analyzed. This accounts for about 1.2 percent of the federal budget. Since taking office, President Trump has sought deep cuts in foreign aid spending, aiming to slash nearly a third of the budget. In his 2018 speech before the UN General Assembly, he said, “Moving forward, we are only going to give foreign aid to those who respect us and, frankly, are our friends.” Congress, the branch of government that sets federal funding, has so far disagreed with the president, largely maintaining existing levels of funding in 2017 and 2018 budget deals.

  24. I have been snowmobiling for 30 years, I am not even sure how many sleds I have owned. I don't meant to sound like a jerk but I think it will be very hard for you to get much money for that sled. I am not saying it isn't nice. Ever since Skidoo went to a rider forward design in 2003 and moved the rider to the middle of the sled and everyone started copying them nobody wants those old back breakers. The way the new sleds ride, I would quit snowmobiling if I had to go back to riding something like that. On top of that, even with the bells and whistles of being a two up, that was an entry level snowmobile with the 550 Fan. I guess it is possible you could find that one specific person looking for a sled like that. I think the $1500 offer was about right. If you can get someone to pay more than 2k for it. I would take it and run. That sled cost around $5000 15 years ago. I would bet if you looked up the average price that sled sells for now it would be less than $1000.

  25. As a mechanic who has worked on them thats a load of crap. They are just another vehicle. You use jackstands if won't go on lift and I have never seen one bend. Perhaps the fool who tried to lift it should know the limitations of their equipment.

  27. I was a young, know it all on Pepacton Reservoir one early spring day. There was still ice on a lot of the water and my buddies and I were fishing minnows under bobbers and night crawlers on the bottom because the water was so cold. A woman came up near us and started throwing a Crocodile spoon, which was a go to bait there in the warmer months. I told her the water was still way too cold for the trout to chase down her spoon, and offered her some of our bait, which she politely refused. She told us, "These are trout. If they are hungry, they will chase these spoons down no problem." We chuckled and let her do her thing. An hour later, we had a few decent browns caught on the minnows, and as expected, she had nothing. Well, a couple minutes later, her real is screaming as line is peeling off with a big fish on. It ended up being a 14 lb. brown. Talk about eating some crow, but it sure was a learning experience.

  31. So whenever we reach a milestone number of deer taken 100,200,300 for example off my property I give a prize to the person taking said deer. Number 400 should be taken in bow or early gun next year and i am thinking a mid level crossbow around $300. Or so. Previous prizes have been a cutco knife, a .22 rifle, and a deer processing kit. Looking for input on a good relatable mid level. X bow as next prize. There are a tone out there but I prefer hearing from someone that has experiance with it what you like / dislike. Thanks in advance

  32. So I am on a six week road trip with the Mrs. Taking an 11-day cruise to the Panama canal and them bumming around Florida for about 4 weeks. I'd like to share some of my adventures, I'm just that kind of guy. But rather than clutter up the General Chit Chat forum with random posts, I thought it might be a good idea to post about my trip in this one thread. Hopefully I will post something funny or entertaining at some point.

  36. You can't change it's age and with that low of miles, some may want it for that but others see one thing: neglect (or the possibility of). At least you have records of some service being performed (i hope) fairly regularly if you say the local shop picked it up every few years.... $2k-$2500 if you can find someone looking for that particular sled in that condition. But at the end of the day, it's a 15yr old fanner so the market is limited and fairly saturated for sleds in this area. Best of luck with the sale
