  2. Pretty stretch of the Cohocton! Lots of Hendricksons coming off but we only saw a handful of fish rising. I hope Pygmy got into them after I left. I managed just this one nice brown on a nymph Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  3. the following hunts took place is Pennsylvania on 4/20/19 during the youth turkey hunt including the mentor youth program which allows kids under the age of 12 to participate also under the guidance of an adult mentor. worked a ton of hours to be able to take a few days off to take the grand kids down to camp for the weekend. Gavin and I arrived wed. evening after finishing up with my electrical inspection on a new cottage build I have going on. We got camp opened up, truck unloaded and were off to put birds up for the night. Thursday morning we were back out to listen as best we could with the wind, and then it was off to run and scout as many properties as possible. we were able to find a handful of gobblers through out the morning and had to run to town for early dinner to meet the rest of the gang that was on their way to camp. we were back in time to put up birds on some properties to free up others to be hit Friday morning off the roost. Friday morning was a perfect morning clear, sunny, and fast rising temps and not only greeted with numerous gobblers but even laid the spotting scope on a few of the target birds to confirm locations. Friday evening we hit all but 5 of the properties and I left Scott to put the flock of birds on my place to roost. while Gavin and I headed off to find his bird. We had birds put up to roost and had all the gear ready and kids to bed just after dark. Addison and Scott ( her dad) were off to my hay field where I told them to set up, Gavin and I were off to a different property. we were in and set up well before gobbling started and we had birds all around us except the target bird had flown way down into the stripmine during the night when a massive thunderstorm moved through. we got the text picture of Addison with her 3yo longbeard about 7:15. we had been having lots of response to sporadic calls but birds were being stubborn so we decided to go be aggressive and see what we could do. we walked south about 100 yards stopping a few times to call and got responses each time and finally the bird we had wanted to set up on opened up back to the northeast and we started back and just before cresting the ridge I gave a call to confirm his location as he was closing fast it seemed. we had our hats about blown off with 2 gobbles directly behind us. we sat down quick and as fast as possible got Gavin in position just as 2 white heads came running down the edge of the field right to 20 yards and stopped and stood there and blasted a gobble right at us. I guess the excitement was too much as Gavin completely wiffed the shot. His first miss in 6 years and at 12 years old won't be his last. so back to camp to shed some gear as it was warming up considerably. off to the races again, I drove up to my field and there were gobblers there but decided to leave them and go hit a piece of public land I have killed a pile of birds on. We were greeted with finding 2 longbeards all alone about 800 yards out with my spotting scope and I knew exactly how to enter the block of woods south of them and have had good success accessing from that direction. We parked the truck and as we were trying to hustle to get geared up they gobbled twice, it was 10 am. We had a main deer highway to sneak along with huge boulders between us and the field. We could only go 125 yards without being picked off in the sparse woods cover, I got Gavin set up against a huge rock and belly crawled 20 yards and stuck myrtle on a little dirt mound on the edge of the logging road. Crawled back to Gavin and they gobbled again. got him in position and my first double cluck into a 3 note yelp on the bomber was blasted with a quad gobble. I told Gavin to watch out front I made another call and received no response, I told Gavin they are coming get ready they can pop out from behind one of these rocks in a hurry. All of a sudden 2 white heads appear from behind a big moss covered rock at 25 yards. I could see the birds and could of killed either of them but Gavin setting just to my left couldn't see them.......they moved to our right and he can see them but they wouldn't stop walking and strutting, every time I would cluck they would stop and he couldn't see them, finally they get to a spot in the open at 20 yards and he is on them and as the barrel is doing figure 8's he fires and missed they gobble and as he racks another shell they gobble again and I am clucking and purring and as they stood there I said calm down put the crosshairs on that bird on the lefts head and shoot him. at the shot the bird dropped in its tracks another solid 3 yo gobbler. Gavin was on his feet in a split second and said he is laying right there I can see him. LOL time of kill 10:11 did some pics, filled out his tag and headed back to camp for pics, bird cleaning and packing up to head back to NY so I could get back to work to get caught up so I can head back for regular opener this weekend. pics to follow

  5. Since my son's baseball just kicked into high gear thru early Aug I thought I'd start a thread for him and anyone else's kids or grand kids playing ball this yr. Since I have no friends besides you guys and gals I have no one else to tell. Tonight was his first game playing on the major fields (12u), he's still 10yrs old. He went 4-4, 5 rbi's and to top it off hit a HR on his first at bat and first swing! He made 2 great line drive catches while playing short stop and pitched pretty well. Games 2 and 3 are Saturday!

  6. Daughters Remington 870 youth 20 has fired 2 rounds in the woods. Buckmaster7600 sent us a rifled barrel few years ago. Her first deer was thanksgiving day Awesome day for her n I. Deadest deer I’ve ever seen. From deep slumber sleep , I tapped her on shoulder , she never wasted a second , optics turned on , safety off , I whisper take him , boom before I can finish , 29 yards and both lungs and heart gone. Dinorocks was happy to do the euro and mount the rack. This year I asked her to borrow her gun one afternoon. I always carry ML from day one of regular season on. My chocolate racked 8 point presented himself hour into hunt. 80 yard shot. We’re 2 for 2 Gun since camo taped years back for turkey season. Feeling we both tip over a bird this spring with it. Deer barrel from Buckmaster, Moho transported her deer when my carrier broke , Treeguy just cleaned and tightened saddle mount , Dinorocks did euro for her deer . what a forum ! Thank you

  7. Tacks wasn't back to his truck yet and I got a brown on a dry....My first one in quite a while on a dry fly.....Hooked and lost two others within the next few minutes...Then they quit rising...So I down to the Legion for a snort....<<grin>>… Fishing will be a lot better if we don't get a whole lot more water.... Hendricksons are hatching...One landed on my fly vest...Fly fishing should be good for awhile , depending on water conditions..

  8. I finally took the plunge and bought a used bow off archery talk. It is a halon x pro,35" ATA and 7" brace height. It came with an adjustable grip and I have it maxed at 62#. What an upgrade this thing is from my previous set up,wow. I will post some pictures shortly. I got a drop away rest for it as well and I like it.

  13. My oldest decided to try softball this year. Her first game is May 4th. I was worried she would be a bit behind in skill level having not played anything up until now at the age of 9 but during practice she seems to be on the same level as her team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Not worth the investment any longer, NY is a lost cause. We will never get right leaning leaders again, and if we do, it'll be a RINO. If you figure that you get a good twenty years of living after retirement, the difference in property taxes alone between NY and say, TN, VA, NC is about $250k during that time period (at least for me it is - it may be more or less for your individual situation). I look at the fact that I would be leaving and not letting the NY Liberals get my retirement $$ to fund their pipe dreams of socialism.

  17. That's great! You got a good ball player there! That was a heck of a game! He must really enjoy playing. Is he playing Rec, Travel and Fall Ball this year? My grandson is playing JV, he's 14 and a freshman. Along with A team travel. He's hurt right now with a winged scapula. Doing PT and hopefully will be back next week. He was pitching in the low 80s until he got hurt. (Not a throwing injury). He's also a catcher and infielder. 6'5" and 215lbs. Big kid for his age. Love watching him play.

There were some mayflies coming off.....Tacks caught one and it looked to me like a BWO, maybe a size 18...There were some bigger flies coming off, also, could have been hendricksons..The trout were not eating them however..Never saw a rise...Caught two small trout on a pheasant tail nymph....We are going to try again tomorrow afternoon..

Truly mind blowing Sadly in depicts how much rainforests, ice flow etc disappears every year and longer. No idea how they ever get some footage

  23. New sprayer. Covers 80”. Should make planting some bigger no till plots a breeze. Of course it’s missing one hose clamp so no tests until tomorrow. But pump kicked right on. Might have to fab some deflectors on outer nozzles when doing trails to keep spray 48” or so. You would think they would make nozzles adjustable.

  28. Lots of boring pictures of branches blowing in the breeze, but I am pretty excited about these piebald deer! I saw them feeding in a field last night and noticed they looked weird. I thought it was just the way the sunlight was hitting them. The little one looks like a buck. Hope they stick around.

  31. My little league career. Did not play pitcher in tee ball lol Placed 2nd in WNY Burger King pitch hit and run. Played pitcher and SS. Once beat a team 51-3 before mercy rule in place. Threw side arm pitching and had some heat at 14. 71 mph I think lol. Broke opposite teams coaches kids fingers as he stepped into an inside pitch. Heard his fingers crack from mound. I sucked at batting.

  35. So cool - glad to hear you say you are going to make what you want to make and avoid the pressure and expectation of a client. My wife is quite handy with cakes and decorating. She started a little side business and HATED every cake she was commissioned to make and was embarrassed about charging for “terrible looking cakes” as she would say. My fat ass is evidence she still makes great cakes but now only for family and is never happier or more proud of her stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  38. I love this thread but god it’s killing me. I just started a Keto diet two weeks ago, no carbs for me. I saw crappies picture of the pizza and drooled on the floor. That being said I get to eat all the bacon I want. But still I’d kill for some bread right now, even if I am down 12lbs in two weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  39. Cheating with store bought for Dyngus Day. It kills me too because I have my grandmothers recipe for homemade pierogies but it’s an entire day process because you never just make a couple dozen. It’s always like 12 dozen to share with family. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  40. Great series, I watch it at least once a year. When my grandpa was alive I use to love talking to him about the war. He served from North Africa all the way through the Italian campaign. Participated in two beach landings and the capture of Rome. I have his dog tags and all of his metals in my gun safe. I was thinking of doing a photo with all of them, my M1 and his coffin flag Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  41. I go to Florida often for work. In a current stretch of 5 trips in 7 weeks. Jan to April is nice...the humidity hit last week finally. For those outside of NYC, people in NY can move to several states and experience somewhat similar living conditions or close enough that it's tolerable or possibly more attractive. Florida is an outright change in nearly every aspect. Snakes included. One thing I will say is that bowhunters in Florida who are regularly successful - I think they're pound for pound the most skilled of any state east of the MS. They put up with monumental conditions working against them and do the work to make it happen. Not alot of "easy" bowhunting in Florida.
