  4. In my vocabulary, passing up means you had the chance to take a good shot and chose not to, for whatever reason... What Bill did, was chose not to take a marginal shot, which is to his credit...

  6. This is not my favorite tune by a long shot, but this young gal just nails it. She has dozens of drum cover videos to her credit and they all just smoke. I played for well over 50 years and taught for several years. I don't ever remember seeing anyone with the comfort and confidence of this young lady. I've exchanged e-mails with her and she is amazing. The only tip I gave her was to keep her hair tied back because a broken or frayed stick that snags it will end the song. She laughed. ;-)

  9. You need a guide/file holder and the correct size file. There really isn't much more to it than that. The one thing I would never do is subject a chain to any sort of motorized sharpening device. They cook the chain teeth and take the temper and durability right out of them. It takes three or four minutes to touch up a chain with a hand-held file. Lots of youtube videos about it. It's not hard.

  11. I would never criticize anyone for owning a lot of firearms, but one day I realized what I need a lot of is ammo. You can only carry so many firearms. When they raid my home, the media will be saying, "Man had 10 firearms and 100,000 rounds of ammo!" LOL!

  12. I don't know of any law that would make it illegal for someone to own 1000 guns even if they weren't a federal firearms dealer. I'm sure there are people out there that may have that many or more. If a person has done nothing illegal with these guns, what's the problem with owning them? Some people have lots of money, like to collect things, so 1000 guns would not be an insane amount to accumulate.

  13. Media sensationalism used for fear mongering. Think they will print the retractions when no charges are filed or the guy, who's an FFL is found not guilty of any of California's tyrannical gun laws? Chuck Michel, a well-known gun rights attorney, said that having 1,000 guns isn’t that unusual for a federal firearms dealer. He said dealers often keep their own private collections and then separately keep an inventory of weapons in stock for the business. As a federally licensed weapons dealer, a person can sell guns elsewhere that are not compliant with California’s assault rifle laws. The state, however, requires dealers to have a dangerous-weapons permit, Michel said. Sometimes, he said, dealers can overlook the correct paperwork and run afoul of the law, noting that sensational search warrants with piles of guns often end up without charges.

  14. Update: went for another appointment that was identical to my last appointment for the research study. I received a text from the co-owner of the office that the prosthetist that has been working with me in the build of the new arm....well his girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer, and he has been out a lot, obviously understandably....well I told her to tell him to not worry about my arm, and to do what he has to do. Also, the electronic parts were ordered for the arm, and some were back ordered actually.... just a basic update for those following.

Probably go Tuesday and call for my cousin on his dirt and never killed a bird. Then hopefully call for a few others on this forum. 16. I had the safety off twice this morning, once on a Jake that walked right by me and then the Tom but he was at around 50. After last weeks miss I was a bit gun shy and he was already way to my left, I didn’t think I was really locked on him. A third Gobbler joined them with at least two hens. They gobbled to everything I tried but wouldn’t move so I backed out. I hope to go back later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  17. On my way home from work this morning i noticed 3 big deer about 50-80 yards out in a meadow noticed one was really light colored and then the back one stepped out from behind the other 2 and the entire ass end was snowball white. Looked like half got dipped into white paint. Couldnt get a picture but it was cool to see. Ill be keeping an eye for now on through there to see if i can get a picture next time.

  21. Haha, you guys are cracking me up! Chains are expensive and last a long time if taken care of! I cut a lot of wood and only go through a chain or 2 a year. Even with a regular old file sharpening is a 5 minute job at most, about the same amount of time it takes to change a chain. And I’m sure you’re running them until they’re dull! 25. The mere ownership of a lot of weapons makes an individual a target for harassment by authorities these days. Their totalitarian thought process assumes if you own that many firearms, you must have broken one of their multitude of idiotic gun laws somewhere along the line. They charge the person with something based on hearsay evidence and force the person to defend themselves against their attacks in court. Then they make a media circus out of the case to make the public think they have done a great service for the public. The worst part is, when the arrestee is found completely innocent of all charges, no retraction is ever printed, no apology made and no financial recourse for damages is available for that person to be made whole. Some of these cases of harassment go much further than that. The Branch Davidians in Waco, TX would attest to that.

  27. I did pass on her, most everytime I saw the big girl she was with a dozen other does, so i gladly selected another deer. I dont know if i could take a piebald. Even with antlers, now maybe a giant mature buck I may think different.. Nothing against them, I just love seeing them in the woods. It is still a deer, and somewhat rare, I just dont think I could do it.. Id rather see a youngster take it, or enjoy seeing it in the future.. Weird.. I know lol

  34. I have posted this before, met the guy in the film. Amazing trackers, its a joy to watch. Fellow in Poughkeepsie area has championed the Bushman cause for political autonomy for many years and sets up visits; they want to be able to travel/hunt/migrate as needed in an area between Namibia and Botswana. You can do a bow hunt with them if you wish. They hunt with little tiny bows with break off tips laced with a grub, nut, and chewed with spit, and thats allowed to dry on the arrow head; after a day of tracking the animal dies. If you search You Tube you can find a video of them cooking a whole Porcupine buried in the ground with coals. I shared a meal done the same way......its "different".

  35. Smoked wild turkey breast wrapped in bacon marinated in Chiavettas. Threw some rich people cheese on it and Weber's garlic and herb into the broiler for a minute. Then sandwiched on toasted 12 grain bread and nundas Caraway horseradish mustard. Damn good! *- rich people cheese- what GFs kids call cheese that isn't in an individual wrapper lol.

  38. About handloading, once you have your brass there will be a decent savings, depending on how one shops for components the savings can be quite substantial as there are very good deals to be had even on high end stuff. As far as reloading equipment it is all made to be able to work and integrate regardless of what manufacturer's items that catches your favor. I have presses, powder measures, dies, and scales among other stuff collected through the years from all the major equipment players out of the past and present and it all works well together to produce top notch ammo. Equipment price is not always an indicator of it's ability to produce quality ammo. Some look down their nose at Lee equipment because of it's price and construction but I can not find any fault the ammo quality it produces or in it's durability, it is a best buy and it works great. The best part about handloading is the personal "satisfaction"!, that one hole group target, or knocking off a crow at near 500 yards or droping a bull moose with ammo you yourself worked up and created, it is "the icing on the cake" of a hunt! 40. We’ve got ,it worked out, I don’t complain when their dandelions encroach upon my, property , and they over look any stray arrows that end up in theirs . Although the one guy once removed a large tall bush, root ball and all. He put it out at the road actually partway in it , as if the town would pick it up, it sat there for a couple weeks, till sometime in the middle of the night it ended up in his driveway right behind his car . I heard it was very heavy and hard to drag .....

  43. This bird had been roosting on an oak ridge about 100 yards off a field....He would gobble a few times on the roost, fly down and walk out into the field to gobble and strut to attract hens...I set my pop up blind on the edge of the field and set out two hen decoys.. He gobbled on the roost at 5:30 AM, about 100 yards into the woods behind me....He gobbled on the roost a half dozen times and I was listening for him to fly down before I called...I never heard him fly down, but suddenly he gobbled on the ground behind the blind and he was CLOSE...He gobbled one more time and I could tell he was coming out of the woods to my right, so I got set up to shoot out of that window... He stepped into the field, took one look at Esmerelda and Henrietta and went into strut...Then he folded up and started walking toward the decoys....I shot him at 38 of my Pygmy paces from the blind...I looked at my watch and it was 5:48...I never even took the rubber band off my box call.....18 3/4 pounds, 9 3/4" beard and 7/8" spurs....He could have been a brother to the one I killed 100 yards away from that spot Sunday morning.. Now it's off to Canada, EH ?.....
