  22. interestingly enough this comes from the discussion where they were attacked by a brown bear. But i think not just the danger part of hunting is important here, but just the unknown. see below. sure it's not just a point and shoot, but you also know exactly what deer are there and the guides put you in the right spots. point being, even with a bunch of trail cams on my property i still get surprised and dont know just who and what might show up that day, and that's not just deer. seeing a fisher was the highlight of my season last year.

  23. there was a good discussion on the meateater podcast that i feel fits well here. 3 things draw most of us to hunting and if you took any of them away, we may not hunt at all. 1. excitement 2. food 3. the element of surprise/danger. Not knowing what's going to happen in the woods that day. For #3, this is where we separate some hunters from others. Some want to be guaranteed success, an opportunity etc. It's not everyone's thing and that's fine, but that's where high fence hunting and stocked small pond fishing resides. If you call me up and say you got a pond loaded with trout i'll try it once, but i probably wont be back. #3 just isn't there for me and would diminish my interest in doing it again. This is of course, to each their own.

  24. This is a great thread , very informative , yeah that’s what I figured with the cotton balls and vaseline, do you know how effective it is? I think I would bring a bunch in a ziplock bag as a backup but maybe also bring one of those little fuel canisters as my primary fire starter

  26. So always see these cheap lures online and thought about trying them. So I took a chance and spent $40. Damn well impressed! Like the colors and the weights of them for casting along the canal. The hooks are certainly not the best but for $40 this was a great deal. Happy with it. Found them on Amazon just searched stickbaits. Site that had a lot was " light in the box" and "Fish USA". There were a lot of stickbait bunches for $25-$50. These will be great for canal casting on 6lb for walleye, pickerel and smallies. If just looking to fill your box or for gifts etc. Pretty good deal. When one rapala costs $7-9.

  27. Some of you are unbelievable. I dont care if the womens team could get beat by trained monkeys. If they bring in more money as phade seems to be showing they shouldn't make less. If that was you and your day job youd be looking for another one. lol what floors me more is the "just shake hands and be grateful for the win". I get some celebrate in poor taste but Wtf! They just won the WORLD CUP! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  36. I truly believe many big bucks just die of natural causes ,never taken by a hunter and seldom seen. I've seen many along the railroad tracks that if they were shot , you would definitely hear about it.. largest ever was in west field bunch of hunters driving a grape vineyard, huge ( 180 plus in ) non typical bases like coke cans belly crawling in ditch next to tracks headed back through the drive. Hunters oblivious and flipped me off when I tried to yell what was happening out the window of locomotive...

  42. Rapinoe is a soccer celebrity, a millionaire, and a lesbian icon. She also portrays herself to be a victim of inequality, inequity, and sexism. She has obviously taken too many sips from the cup of political correctness because she’s intoxicated on her own celebrity. As for inequality, it’s a fact that one billion people will have watched the 2019 Women’s World Cup, but the 2018 Men’s World Cup reached 3.6 billion. This isn’t inequality, just consumer ratings. As for inequity, pay structures for women and men’s soccer are measured by viewership, not gender. Furthermore, the gap in talent speaks volumes. Two years ago, the U.S. women’s national team was beaten badly by a team of boys under the age of 15.
