  1. So, ironically enough, the Blink XT cam I have on a tree about 25’ from my door, catches a whole lot of cool videos. I get this doe who strolls through every evening...she sniffs the cam. Friday at 8pm had this little bear walk by, and just last night at 12:06am this buck walked through. Figured it was worth sharing, I have been enjoying this a lot. These are all screenshots of videos.

  4. Requiring a license to own a firearm is unconstitutional. Requiring registration of a firearm is unconstitutional. Why are these laws in effect? Because people have allowed the government to usurp their rights with unconstitutional laws. Bernard Goetz was convicted of having an unregistered firearm as well. He was convicted of nothing else. If these men defended themselves with knives and killed these criminals, they wouldn't be charged. But because they used a firearm, they are criminals. Since when does the use of a particular object for defense, determine whether you had a right to defend yourself from being killed? The jury should find him not guilty because the law is unlawful. It's called Jury Nullification. You cannot be found guilty of a crime when you violate an unlawful, unconstitutional law.

  9. Tonight's full moon is called 'The Buck Moon'. Historically, Native American, and other traditional names were used to track the seasons. At this time the bucks antlers are in full growth mode. Hence the name 'Buck Moon'. This full moon has also been called the 'Thunder Moon' because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month. Being part Native American myself, I like to follow along with some of the"old ways" and names. I use 'The Buck Moon' as a time to really start ramping up my deer hunting preparations. Shooting and practicing more with various hunting implements, to be sure they will be accurate and flawless when needed. Brush hogging, preparing fall plots, moving stands or building new natural ground blinds, putting out trail cams, coming up with a fresh new strategy or set up, and so many other little things to get ready. We are only a little over 10 weeks away from the start of bow season! And the long offseason will be over!!! What are some of the deer hunting preparations you will be doing during the time of 'The Buck Moon'?

  13. The fact I can see reflection of that door in the paint is telling me that a semi or gloss was coated over and they can make for this issue. Unfortunate is that proper prep always takes time and few are willing (even some "pro's" ) to do it. Goose is not a pro but is on the right track IMO. I'd do what is suggested in his post and pull what you can a flexible thin 6" taping knife works good for this, a thick stiff knife will dig up wall and require compound to fill in scratches, sand and remaining coat edges with compound (blue bucket lightweight ok for this) and prime. Benjamin Moore Fresh Start #23......one with green ring around label.....would make a good choice. I use that on almost every project that has issues. https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/interior-exterior-paints-stains/product-catalog/fspip/fresh-start-premium-interior-primers

  19. I didn’t feel comfortable trying to light a fire in the woods. It’s to dry and I don’t want to take a chance. I found some punk wood this morning and decided to give it a shot in my fire pit. I tried the punk wood with the ferro rod. It seemed to want to light, but after a few minutes I added a Vaseline cotton ball one spark and fire. Was lite. I also pulled a piece of rope apart and tried that it took a few shots but I got it going. I’m going to grind up some punk wood and vacuum seal it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. He's legit mid 80s on the gun from four different sources. H.S. coach is telling us at least mid 90s by his senior year. BUT.....he hasn't entirely yet learned to command his pitches at that velocity. But they are working on it. We are fortunate to be in a large school district, with lots of good coaching and resources. We will see where he goes next year as a sophomore. In his junior and senior year, if he's blessed to be good enough, and lucky enough, we'll let the chips fall where they will. But to get a ride to a good university, would be beyond his and our wildest dreams. He loves being left tackle!! Did not allow a qb sack from his side all last year. And opened up huge gaps for a bunch of yards rushing, from that side too. On defence, he has good speed, and was tough on opposing quarterbacks, RB's and linemen. They may start using him this year as a TE on offense. And ILB on defence. But his heart is in being a tackle. Right now, he's just a big 15 year old kid, that loves playing ball. And carries high 80s low 90s grades in class. I just hope he stays happy and healthy. And continues to want to hunt with his grampy.

  25. 35 to 40 hp is minimum i would look for, 2 wheel drive is fine if your fairly flat terrain. Loader is nice but you will need counter weight if your not use to tractor, Geared!!! Not hydrostatic Ag tires !!!! Not industrial or turf.. if you want a lawnmower those are tires for it they dont belong on a tractor!! Look at gallons per minute on hydraulic pump the higher the number the more you can lift. That being said ....If you doing small plots 1/4 to 1/2 and brush hogging you may get by with a Ford 8n. A 2 bottom plow , small disc harrow and brush hog. They are common and are 25 hp or so and low to ground for woods work . They are a good starter tractor. Jubilee, 9n , are new slightly more hp and available. Old internationals if converted to 3pt hitch like the 300 or 400 utility are 30 hp plus and are effective and have wide front ends lower to ground and more stable..if not converted for 3pt the 2 pt quckhitch equipment can be hard to find or you can find deal where everything comes with.. . If your not sure what your looking at the Nebraska test will give you tons of data on older tractors and show true hp tested on. Draw bar and pto... https://tractortestlab.unl.edu/

  26. FWIW, it sounds like the wall wasn't (sufficiently) primed. I would peel off what comes off easily, feather sand the edges of the paint, and prime the whole thing before repainting. If you are worried about more peeling, and don't want to take off all of the old paint, you could prime it with Guardz before regular primer and paint. I am not a professional painter. I would think there would be some on this forum. Listen to them before me, but this is what I think, FWIW.

  31. Good Lord, I cant believe 40 years has gone by already. I met Doreen way back in 1976. One of our earliest dates was fishing on the Oak Orchard River in a rented aluminum boat. I think I turned her into an outdoors girl. Two daughters, four grandchildren (and counting). 40 years ago we said “I do”, and we still do!

  32. Anchovies on any kind of pizza, especially white pizza or focaccia. Most people cringe when they see me eat it. When I was a kid a lot of old-timers ate what they called soffrite...brains, lungs, and tripe stewed with mushrooms, onions, & peppers in tomato sauce, I'm assuming it was all beef but not 100% sure. Either over spaghetti or drained a little & stuffed in a crusty roll. I'd eat it again if I came across it, but don't care enough to save all the parts from a deer or calf/steer to make it myself. Beef or bison tongue...a lot of work, but it's very good. Best cold on rye bread with Swiss, raw onions, and decent mustard. Chips, a deli pickle, and a cold glass of beer make it even better.

  33. 10 weeks!? I was out this past weekend doing a little scouting and setting cameras, checking stands, etc. It was hard to see tracks with the dirt being so hard from this drought. I'll check the cams in a few weeks to see what's moving and may move the stands based on that. While I was walking I snuck up on a couple of fawns playing in the field. They walked to within about 30 yards of me. Cute little buggers. I'll probably start shooting next month when it cools off a little.

  34. I just want my daughter to enjoy herself. If she continues to love it, awesome. If she starts feeling like it is a job then I hope she backs off. That is why I am a little nervous about pushing her harder. I think she is kinda at a crossroads now that she is in a U16 bracket. She can either continue being a good soccer player and enjoying herself or decide this is truly important to her, buckle down, and stop relying on her athletic ability and put in the extra work that a lot of these kids already do. I am not really sure what path is the correct one. I have no idea if my daughter will get a scholarship for soccer. Maybe for a lower division school if she decides she wants to go for it. She is an excellent student as well. This is the first year she was not able to maintain a 95 average but she was taking 10th grade level math and science this year in 8th grade. She struggled a little bit in both those classes and by struggled I mean had high 80 averages and did well on the regents exams. She would be upset when we left track practice/meets and it made her later for soccer practice. I am not sure there is a D1 soccer scholarship in her future. In the league she played in this year, she got a first hand look at what a phenomenal 12-13 year old soccer player looks like and they are truly amazing. My daughter is not one of those kids. I assume those are the kids that will be getting D1 scholarship offers for their athletic talents.

  35. have two treestands to move. One just moving it about 10 yards for a better shot window. The other moving to other side of property and will be a whole new setup. Have to do some clearing and cutting (have to get chainsaw working again first!) . Then cams out first weekend of August. BUt all that holds off til it is under 90 degrees! Prob a lot of that work will be done in Sept . But out of 13 stands not too bad of shape to be ready

  40. 15 years old today Not sure how long ago I posted about this pup’s failing health (eyesight, hearing, balance is shot) but we’ve been blessed to have him for so long. Lately he has been having some accidents in the house and is up quite a bit throughout the night but today is a day to celebrate!!! I will try to dig up some old pics later. Soft serve vanilla ice cream cone is on the menu for him today- his all time favorite treat that he gingerly eats off the cone like a child. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  42. Athletic, tall and big = scholarship, especially when he is self motivated. Best of all, I know he has a good head on his shoulders. Nothing wrong with not pursuing athletics, but nothing wrong with using those gifts especially if you enjoy it. Saved me around $80k 30 years ago and I was not nearly as naturally gifted as Zach. Sounds like Apexers daughter and Zach are doing something they love and for which they are talented. Do it when they can!

  43. Gramps - If your grandson is 6-5” and 220lbs at 15 years old, barely anyone will “catch up” to him in size. If he’s throwing a legit 87mph, he needs to go full force for baseball. D1 should be a backup plan. There’s no reason why with the right training and showcase recognition, that he will not improve his throwing speed/mechanics over the next 2 full years. Therefore, he will be drafted and then can decide D1 or take the $ and start in the minors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would bring home worms , rabbits , frogs, turtles , snakes ,fawns, raccoons, kittens ,fish, tadpoles, even had a puppy in my closet for 3 days before they found it . Lol

  45. The biggest part of all this drive, is he feels there are WAY too many that are better than him, and he needs to catch up? And yes, there ARE some better than him, but not "too many" in his age group, as he compares himself to older kids? He is a really big kid for his age at 6'5 220+lbs and soon enough, some kids his age will be starting to catch up with him. Some are this year, weight wise! But no doubt his size advantage plays a big part in all this too. And for sure, some of the coaches (not school) and parents, gas these kids heads a little too much, as only one in a million of them will ever be pro athletes. But for the most part he's still VERY humble, and hard working. Always willing to help teammates, or help coaches with the younger kids coming up. He really enjoys that. Perhaps that will be his calling? Go to school to be a teacher/coach? IDK....maybe I'm just insecure about possibly losing my hunting buddy to athletics, and or growing up? And that is VERY selfish on my part!!! I'm pretty sure he'll make the time for his grampy. Seems like when I was 15, the biggest thing I looked forward to, was when I'd get my learners permit to drive......lol So much different for most kids now days........ My sincere apologies for hijacking this thread about ApexerER's wonderful daughter, and her soccer tryout. Having a talented athlete for a daughter, I'm hoping perhaps you can relate to some of this?? It did help to get some things off my chest.
