  1. My cousins wife was was lucky enough to draw a moose tag in zone 19. He was the sub. On our first afternoon, we called up this guy. It was incredible. We heard him grunting back at us a thrashing the brush as he came in. Alan dropped him at 70 yrds.

  2. It's been a while since I have logged into HuntingNY and I just wanted to stop by and say Hello. Some might remember my previous posts about my canoe in wall tent deer camps up at Lows Lake. I did that 5 times, made a few videos and they where well received . I never did shoot a deer there, I tried but age had kinda slowed me down and just getting out there was rewarding enough. I'm lucky to have two sons who provide me with all the venison I want, which I eat once a week year round. Life thru me a couple of curve balls in recent years, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostrate cancer due to exposer to Agent Orange in Vietnam. The VA has done a great job of getting that all cleared up, but the radiation caused me to lose a lot of strength in my hamstrings, climbing a stairs is an ordeal, portaging my gear and setting up camp would be too much for me now. Hunting is pretty much a thing of the past. Besides the update and saying Hi, I want to remind all that getting your PSA checked yearly is really important, had the VA not checked mine regularly I would not be here today. I also would like to remind folks to get out there while you can, I'm glad I did. I'll include a few pics of my camp and a link to some videos. Good Luck this year and stay safe. Youtube channel, my last trip-

  15. Honestly the times I have killed more than 1 in a day I usually regret as it’s lots of butchering all at once. I am good with limiting myself to one deer in a hunt.

  20. OK, not a trail cam pic. It was taken from the kitchen window. This fox went wherever he wanted to in the tree until he finally found an apple. Then it was down the tree and a mad dash to the woods. It would have made an unbelievable video, but alas, I wasn't prepared.

  22. I was in the woods the other day looking for the first rub and to check the distance on a spot i might hide in at the edge of a field for the early days. I walked slow and scanned the area and all of a sudden there was movement 20 yds from me on the ground. I look and thought it was a squirrel at first and it turned out i was half right. It was a Fisher that popped out behind a fallen log and it had a dead grey squirrel in its mouth. Pretty cool sight, only my 2nd Fisher in the woods.

  23. Nah they're skanks. And I'd hunt the whole world not just 3s so not to worry about that. Better off the way things worked out. Life would possibly become easier with that money but doesn't mean I'd be marrying my best friend and the one that makes me happiest in life like I plan to do in June. I've still got my secret recipe and I'm only 30 so there is still a long way to go left in this story. Who knows maybe I'll overtake that valuation on my own. Never know! 24. He reached out to me through the radio show on SiriusXM and then I just blew his shit off. Who knows it may have been even more. The way I saw it was he has 3 flavors mine would make 4. That would really be 25% but I decided at the time I wouldn't take anything less than 10% of the company and at the end of the day I just decided never to bother dealing with the guy. He was extremely interested but maybe due to immaturity, disdain for him and the product, or just stubbornness and possibly a bit of foolishness on my part I never bothered to deal with him any further. And now things are not nearly as comfortable as they could have been, but in the end I never would have met my fiance and future wife which would have been a real damper on my life, so in the end it all seems to work out somehow. Albeit with significantly less money in my bank account. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  26. Thanks everyone. It weighed in at 801 lbs. Took us 3 hrs to rig up pulleys, ropes to the trucks and get him to the road. The blow downs and boulders slowed us down a lot. He took the first shot opportunity he had, and he wasn't coming any closer. We're still at it trying to get my buddies son a bull, but haven't seen or heard a thing. Getting back out shortly.

  32. Hi and welcome back Robin! Count me as one who very much enjoyed your posts and video's too. Sorry to hear of your health issues. Less than two years ago I underwent bladder cancer surgery, and I'm still having some problems popping up. And I have lost a step or two since then. But still kicking! Your experience and advice is still greatly valued here sir. Hope to hear more from you! Thank you for your service, and welcome home my friend.

  40. I started using Milkweed last season, I still carry the powder in my pack. Not sure which I like better as the milkweed gets caught on branches to easily. Although it's very interesting to watch it as it makes its way through the woods. As for the prep, I am soo far behind this year. But I'm still a 10/15 guy and early bow is really dress rehearsal for me. I look forward to 10/31 through election day. Plus after looking at the weather for 10/1, 80 degrees and storms doesn't trip my trigger!

  43. Sure. I never measure but here goes: First, peel 2 eggplant, slice in 1/2" thick rounds. Brush lightly with olive oil. season w salt & pepper. Place on a baking sheet, bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes or until slightly wilted. Meanwhile, brown off 1 lb ground lamb (or deer or ground beef), add 1/2 a diced onion, 3 seeded & chopped large tomatoes, chopped garlic, paprika, a little cinnamon, salt, & pepper. Cook down to a fairly thick sauce consistency, then add some currants, chopped mint, & chopped oregano, and a couple Tbsp of honey. Separately, make a cream (bechamel) sauce with 2 cups of milk, medium consistency. Let cool slightly, add 2 egg yolks & 5-6 oz of goat cheese, but don't heat the sauce back up. To assemble: In a 9" X 9" baking pan or casserole dish, add a layer of the meat sauce, a layer of grilled eggplant, meat sauce, eggplant, and rest of the meat sauce. Top with the white cheese sauce, sprinkle with parmesan, cover, bake 45 minutes @ 350, remove cover & bake 30 minutes more. Casserole should be brown on top & bubbly. Bon apetit!

  47. Well tomorrow I depart for my Maine Moose hunting adventure!!! it's unreal!!! Can't believe I even won a cow tag, let alone was able to trade it for a bull in a great area. Can't say enough good things about OMM outfitters and I haven't even left yet. This is truly a dream come true for me. Moose has always been my dream animal. Leaving the house around 3am tomorrow, should be about a 9 hour ride. Not sure what the cell service is gonna be like up there so unfortunately you guys might have to wait a week to hear about it. Thanks for all the support and I plan on taking LOTS of pics for everybody!!!
