After early success on the first afternoon with my cousins bull, we set out to get Colby one. Finally on Friday afternoon finally got on a bull. Took about a hr to get it to the edge of the swamp. It wasn't coming any closer. Colby made a fantastic first shot at 275 yrds, then both him and his father followed up with finishing shots. Unfortunately, he dropped in about a foot of water. Took us 6 hrs to quarter him and load it into canoes and get it back to the road. Our feet were numb from the cold water. First pic is the swamp from the road. Bull was off to the left out of sight, shot was taken from the point on the right. EST weight, 680.

So my husband brought home another hunting partner . He is hoping she will be his lol . Daughter already claimed her . Meet Ruby.

We added 22 new bowhunters to our ranks today! What a great group they were. Hope they are all as proud of themselves, as we are of them. Wished them all straight shots and short blood trails. And again, the circle is unbroken.

My plans...Wait until gun season....Climb up into my elevated, heated tower blind...Shoot deer in food plot...Drive truck to deer and slide it up the ramp into the truck bed....Repeat at least one more time during season... Plan B....Drive up to Moog's and sit in Moog's tower blind...He loads his rifle...I shoot two deer with his rifle...Moog throws them into my truck as if they are rag dolls.. I get lost again on my way home but eventually make it there....

Tonight ,prime rib sandwich inside the Redbird Club, Busch Stadium, last night we walked by a Ruth’s Chris so stopped for an early dinner, I had ribeye the Mrs a petite filet . Night prior some St.louis BBQ after open mike night at the blues museum.

I'm getting a little better at grilling...I think. Steak s bit over done but was tender.

I tell my dad who passed away to watch out for me out there and to scare the big one my way .

Had to improvise. My bow cable broke, so I am having that replaced. So while the bow is in the shop, I took my ancient Hoyt out of mothballs and will use that next weekend along with my old aluminum arrows. The bow is slow, but I am happy with how it shoots. The 10pt on looks scrawny compared to the 8pt in the 2nd pic. Had a few pics of bachelor groups still together and also bucks harassing does already!

Final tuneup before opening day. First 3 shots 25yds sitting down straight on. Not turned sideways like normal bow shot. Sun in eyes, very windy. I'll take it! I like to practice odd shots. My plan, leave work early Tuesday. Drive to camp. Shower get dressed (clothes are washed and hanging) walk to blind, get on forum live from the woods. Shoot the shit with my hunting buddies on the forum. Put a arrow through the boilermaker on a 10pt. Have a short track maybe 100 yards. Dress deer, walk back get the ATV. Drag deer back to camp. Take to the processor/taxidermist.(usually process my own but heard good things about this butcher). Drive back to camp, smoke a big fat cigar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got two more spots picked out today for my brother and for myself one pinches down between a meadow and pond farthest shot maybe 20yards. Ive seen them use this to cross the road to a corn field and back. Saw 5 does do it during turkey season so they gave it away. The other spots at the base of thick pines/locust thicket on a stream with apple orchard to the south. Ones good for any north wind others good for any south wind. Both setups are within 100yards of the road just 400yrds apart. Im hoping to sit the pine setup next saturday night.

I'm in. I only have three actual hunting videos up on my channel ( 4 if you count a tree rat hunt I did a couple weeks ago camping at my buddy and I's backwoods camp in the ADK's ). I planned of filming a few hunts this season anyway. No way I can film the actual kill of it happened as I use my phone as my camera. I have a tripod, but learned fast the card fills up fast and the battery dies when I just leave it running. Is something like this acceptable ( not last years, I will make new ones of course )? Not sure how to film the spirit of hunting. One man show here, no film crew helping me out LOL.
