Somehow these two strays ended up in our truck for the trip back. The reservation is overrun with them. They shoot them there. Think they are a Lab mix and a Husky mix. Boy won't the dogs at home be thrilled.16 points

Jumped two does on the way in but finally set up on a secluded hay plot next to a huge bedding area. I got my first day light pics of a buck I’ve been chasing since 2017 here last week so hoping he shows up again. It’s all tore up with scrapes and rubs. Good luck to everyone out there! 3.8# weight loss this week, 113# total over 35 weeks, 3.23# average per week. 228.2# After a week long visit to Pennsylvania where I ate steaks and drank copious amounts of wine, I only posted a .2" loss over 2 weeks. I got back on track with the program. With my new job that keeps me on my feet walking most of the day, I managed a significant weight loss this week. Only 11.8# from my next milestone and token award for 125#, 36.8# from my ultimate goal of 150# weight loss that will get me down to 191.2#6 points

Boys got home form school and the 3 year wanted to go hunting......can't argue with that. Setup in the grapes I hunt close to home and I wasn't even done setting everything and making sure he was strapped in and he says " daddy there's a deer"....low and behold a nice doe stepped out 6o yards away.....then after a bit a decent buck. Does jumped back in the woodline and the buck followed......does came back out a few minutes ago and we are waiting on the buck. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk5 points

My cameras have been going nuts since yesterday afternoon. I have pics from one of my cell cams of both of my target bucks hanging in my clover plot for over an hour this morning, less than 40 yards from one of my stands.5 points

Decided to take advantage of the wet and try my hand at stalking. After 45 minutes of step, step stop, I saw a deer about 40 yards away through the dense brush. I started to parallel her movement when I picked up another larger doe behind her. She raised up and eyed me straight off. I froze midstep and we began what seemed like a 20 minute staring contest. There was a large black cherry between us and when she finally turned I sidestepped and put the tree between our sight lines. Took a breath. Unfortunately, there were a lot of small trees between me and the cherry so I couldn’t inch straight toward it. After five minutes I tried to go ever so slightly around a sapling and she blew and took off. Best day ever.4 points

One of my favorite things in the fall woods is watching a flock of turkeys fly down for the day and watching and listening to them set up the days pecking order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

10/17/19 I was contacted last night by a bowhunter that had been out scouting and saw a big buck leave a cut cornfield and go into the woods. He had his bow with him so he parked and snuck in after him. He was able to get to under 30 yards due to a heavy downpour. This is where my lecture begins. I personally believe it’s unethical to bowhunt in heavy rain and I told him that. He agreed that hadn’t been a smart idea and he had let the size of the buck cloud his judgement. Ok, back to the story..... He felt that he had made a good shot and waited 20 minutes before going after him. He said that despite the downpour he still had a good bloodtrail and followed it 200 yards through hardwoods and backed out when it went into a tall weedy area. Kunox and I arrived at first light in the pouring rain, after getting in excess of an inch overnight. There was a deer in the field when we arrived and Kunox went hot almost immediately after starting the track, so we did a restart and got him going in the direction the hunter had marked. We got to the grassy area and Kunox took a trail out of it back into the hardwoods. I pulled him off when it became obvious he was pulling way too hard and the track was way too fresh to be our deer. We went back for a restart and he took a trail into the thick stuff. 20 yards away lay this beauty! I’m sure they would have found him on their own, but I’m glad we had the pleasure of doing that for them! The hunter was very smart to back out when he did, rather than risk pushing this big buck.4 points

Out for a quick evening sit overlooking a few trails and a funnel. Wind made it easy to walk in, but gusting in every direction. They may not have heard me, but every deer within a mile probably got a good whiff. Last likely sit for a bit for me. Closing on a new house tomorrow and likely busy the next week moving. Good luck to all out there. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk3 points
