Shoot him!!!

Wow this afternoon has been crazy! Got set up around 230 and had a nice but busted up buck come by within minutes. Ended up having three more bucks cruise by in the next 15 minutes and shot a really nice 8 or 9 pointer. I shot him quartering away and his opposite side leg was broken when he was running away so I thought I smoked him. Ended up jumping him about 80 yards onto the blood trail. Looked pretty hurt but couldn’t get a shot. Not sure if I was high or what but I must not have double lunged. Ready to miss with the yote rig. All sighted in. Weighs less than 7lbs unloaded. Tribute to Stormy. One shot zeroing where you aim at handwarmer, shoot them aim at warmer again and freeze frame and move crosshairs to first shot. Worked well. I shot a few extra but 7 shots total and last 3 destroyed warmer at 100. So when I miss it will be @TreeGuy ‘s fault not my equipment. Love this AR. My favorite.

I was so fired up last night. I was pacing my house , @TreeGuyalmost had me convinced to drive an hour and half away to hunt those things down. Funny thing is that the woods where I have that cam hung is identical. Imagine if these guys put that much work and effort into their real jobs.

I feel like I being reverse baited. Got up stand and big pile of corn on my seat. Had to sweep it off to sit. But if they knew me at all they should be using ham sandwiches. At least this stand is productive for the squirrels. Was a pretty fresh set of tracks on way in.

Was just an almost. Walked over to some bedding areas 500 yards downwind where deer don't usually come to the stand I was in. And no sooner step in woods and hear crunching pull up and nice buck in the thick gone like a jet. Was running hard quartering away and real thick stuff. No shot. Not a wall hanger but a solid euro. Would guess seven or small 8. Damn so close. Bedded right between two of my stands. Pushed into a couple other spots and now back on cornfield hoping for something a little slower to come thru. That buck def would've made the season!!

Bacon venison cheezzz burgers. Burgers cooked in a little bacon grease. Phenomenal. I have almost gone all cast iron and the grill has been lonely latley.

Did you notice that the roof of the suv was caved in from the weight of the deer ? Thats the New Hemisphere roof cave weight system , one inch starts at 150# then 10# for each additional ,quarter inch .

Well 2 guys at work saw bucks chasing does last night. The one said his was a smaller body that had already lost his horns said he could clearly see the bases still bleeding. Thought it was early for that. On the way home i saw a big buck right behind a doe step for step. Getting pumped for this morning and tomorrow. Good luck.

Gotta work today, was planning on hunting tomorrow but the forecast sucks! Maybe go out Sunday instead. Then maybe have to burn a sick day on Tuesday? This work thing keeps getting in my way, glad that's almost over! (2 weeks left)

I’ll fess up. Off today , alarm went off at 4:15 this morning. Turned alarm off , woke up at 5:30 and realized what a great morning it was. Cold , sunny and no wind. Oh well. Felt good doing absolutely nothing Couple opportunities left so theirs still hope. Gotta make a birdie down the last few holes.

Farfalle Alfredo with fresh shrimp seared in butter,garlic red paprika and parsley. Yummers

sunfish and venison for dinner last night... poor(smart) man's surf and turf. Caught the sunfish on worms on a hot day and the venison with a crossbow on a cold one. Fish dipped in egg, breadcrumbs and pan fried, deer (just various chunks) sauteed in oil and butter and deglazed with red wine. Doesn't food always taste better when you work for it? Looking forward to Oct 1st.

I need some good juju ladies and gentlemen. Popped in my gifted fireball at 3:25. At 3:45 I see a busted up buck I passed on earlier in the season coming down the trail I walked in. He doesn’t like the Evercalm and freezes up. Not two minutes later I catch more movement and it’s a good buck...I have no idea how many points cause once I know he’s good i stop looking! He likes the Evercalm and comes my way after I hit the grunt. I draw when he’s behind some brush at 10 yards - hard quartering to- hoping he gives me the shot. At 7 he turns away a bit offering a good look and FULL SEND! Shot looks good, tucked behind front right shoulder and trots off leaking. I watch him stumble around 100 yards away and lay down in thick crap. The busted buck follows him (as does another buck?!?) and they are watching him just lay there. I stay until dark(as do they) and quietly back out. Quick look at hit sight showed wet leaves and no arrow(pretty sure i saw it fall out on the trail he took to bed down)Hoping he’s where I left him when I return around 7.... Did I mention it started raining pretty good after the shot- F Me! Don’t beat me up too bad about hunting in rain as I am pretty hard on myself about that already if he’s not there. Thoughts? I went out today for the first time with the muzzleloader. Slow walk in the light rain. Stopped at one of my food plots and stood inside some thick brush for last 20 minutes. Finally saw two deer on my walk back up the hill. I was within 40 yards but with no shot, and after legal to boot. At least I saw a deer! I did hunt last weekend at my cousins hunting camp, we did two drives and an afternoon sit. Nothing. Hope to get out Sunday, and I might take off Monday morning. Tomorrow is in-laws family holiday party and my great aunts 95th birthday party. Time is running out!

Get your blind on the edge facing into your property. so you can watch both where they bed and where they travel too.. I also suggest letting this all grow up because in all reality one should want safe bedding cover before a food source if your looking to see daytime deer activity. Cover 1st, food source 2nd. You could also plant this field into a big seed blend with taller and shorter crops to benefit you and the deer, creating cover and food all in one. But If it were me since this is only 6 acres surrounded by farmland.. Make this all cover, let it grow up and plant 2 or3 "clumps" of white pine trees across this field opening. And maybe create a small opening for soft or hard mast trees the drop fruit/nuts during the season you plan to hunt this.. since its only 6 aacres.. If it were me, keep it thicker for bedding cover, and add food by utilizing trees and shrubs.. not big open food plots. Unless you can privacy screen them in.. then id convert half to cover and half to a food source. Also the key with any property especially small properties is to keep all human pressure off of it as much as absolute possible.

Man i wish i had my pistol permit. Need to get it sooner than later.
